Yes, I saw the 11 day. That doesn't mean the 13 day connoisseur cruisetour will make the list. Princess can get pretty specific. Of course I will check to be sure but I won't be surprised if I find my cruise isn't included.

You might want to wait on that to see how much the prices get jacked to cover a free drink package :)

 

That is the first thing I thought of, unfortunately :(. I guess I'm getting cynical in my old age. Or just realistic.

I wonder if a solo would be able to take advantage of this? I know it says for two but usually a solo pays double or close to it.

 

The fine print says "fares do not apply to exclusive occupants", but I would check anyway if there is a cruise you are interested in, seeing as the way policies can vary on Princess.

I don't drink enough to make the all inclusive drink package something of value to me. I wonder if I could opt for the value of the drink package as OBC instead. That would be of much more value to me.

 

They would never do that. The cost of the drinks package to Princess is far less than the value of the drinks package to you.

 

We have a Celebrity cruise booked where I opted for the drinks package which is valued at AU $1316 for the booking (2 pax). That package would not cost Celebrity anything near that amount - the package is valued at retail price not at cost. The alternatives were free gratuities AU $253.52 or some OBC which I think was up to AU $300 and varied by cabin type. I believe the latter two give a reasonable indication of the cost of the drinks package to Celebrity.

The $49/day (+ tip) of the AIBP does not cost Princess anywhere near $49.

 

$49/day OBC will cost Princess the full $49.

 

 

You are absolutely correct. The cruise lines know that even the thirstiest passengers can not consume more than $8 to $9 per day at the ships alcohol price so they make at least $40 per day when they sell the AI. If they pay your gratuities that costs them $12 per day so they are not eager to give you a choice.

We don't either. Wish Princess would give you a choice between paid gratuities, drink package or OBC.

 

We also don't drink enough and would love the option of tips or OBC for tours and things. We are booked already for the Baltic in May 2016 so will have TA look at this anyway maybe rebook if I can get the same cabin.

Deal sounds good - wish it was available to us in the UK. The prices quoted for a balcony on the Alaska cruise are similar to what we are being charged - without any drinks package or specialty dining ! Maybe one day ..........

Exactly my thoughts when I saw the prices, we pay the same figure for our cruises but in sterling :(. I doubt we will see any 'Sale' here in the UK. Pity I have a FCC waiting to use.

When I was searching for cruises, and other cruise lines, besides Princess a Free Beverage package would be in included, however, you had to pay gratuity $68. Doesn't sound free to me. Is that what Princess may offer as well? Never have done the packages. Is that Soda or Beer? Doesn't seem other alcoholic beverages are included in any of the packages and you can't purchase Whiskey to have in your cabin. Sort of confused.

The free package reflects the beverage commodity so you aren't paying for what you drink, so yes the beverages are free. The add- on covers the server gratuity so that's a service charge.

I received the Casino discount rate. I don't know why as I am not a big casino spender ($20-40/night on the slots). The Casino rate is attached to your Past Passenger Number. You can only book a cabin with the Casino Rate for the person it is attached too. I booked a cabin for myself with the Casino Rate but not able to get a cabin with the rate for my daughter. Not everyone gets it and each cruise only so many cabins for each rate.

 

If you look at the rates under search for cruise, it will show the rates for everyone, log in, continue to where it shows the ship and difference categories, if you have the Casino Rate, it will show a different rate. If not, call Princess and ask, sometimes it will not show. My Agent said sometimes they have to call to get the rate.

In my experience, Princess offers in the UK are borderline fraudulent.

 

We booked on a free drinks package at £969, at the end of the offer the price went down to £749 with additional room credit.

 

When they advertise free balcony upgrade they have simply increased the ocean view cabins to be the same price as the balcony ones. At the end of the "offer" the ocean views are reduced again and the balcony stays at the same price it always was.

 

To give them some credit, they do allow you to change offer when you realise you've been had.

Hi Michelle… I will definitely call and ask her about this one. You do realize though that I would have to move to a balcony :D If the price was the same as it was on Sunday but with this special, I would definitely go for it.
