Correct me if I am wrong, but don't children pay when they sail?Shouldn't they receive points just like any other paying cruiser. I realize it is not their money most times but they are still a paying guest. There are no children discounts that we are aware of. Anyway I guess they earn their points like everyone else.

Most children pay the 3rd/4th person rate in the stateroom which is a much lower cost than the first 2. Some cruises as low as $299 pp.

When have you seen a $299 rate in recent years for 3rd/4th person? Even back when our son cruised with us, we paid between $700 and $1,000 for him as the third in a balcony.

You should give X a try. We went on our first Celebrity cruise in March because their particular itinerary worked best with our daughter's college spring break. They had some nice promotions going on, even better if you booked a suite, which we did. Being recognized as Elite in their Captain's Club (their C&A) gave us even more perks, including a complimentary bag of laundry for each of us. Their suite restaurant was top notch. I can't say enough good things about it.

Thanks Jules. I believe I was spoiled by the Haven but this seems a bit better then what Royal is offering now. It is worth a try.

I'd also like to see more CKs added but think they work best when combined with the SL as on the Oasis class. It is nice just wandering from cocktail time into the CK.

Could not agree with this any more!! One thing that was so nice about the Haven is the private restaurant, bar and pool area all within eye distance. The concierge team readily available in this area from morning until night.

I believe it is like that on Oasis-yes, minus the pool area??? Or-are the concierges only at the desk during those few hours a day/night on Oasis?

This made a huge difference with the concierge services offered in the Haven that Royal has not quite figured out yet. Early escorts to shows, meeting one of the team at the theater for reserved seats and the one really nice touch was stopping in while you are having dinner to check in on you.

With regards to the link up with RCI and MSC does anyone know what benefits upper tier crown and anchor members get when travelling with MSC?? thanks

Scroll down to Member Benefits

Keep in mind each benefit is per person, not per cabin, so if you receive a dinner, you actually get two. If you get a gift, you actually get two, etc...

Oh boy, I would like to pay $299! Anyway, thanks

I would have paid $299 for my kid on Royal too! But he was priced at about 80% of the 1 and 2 fare (way above $299 for sure!), and full gratuities too even though he can't use most services.

Jumped to MSC; Kids sail free and No Gratuity charged under 6 years old. Net results was about $1000 in savings compared to Royal.

I didn't say they were all low, as some as low as.

We never booked balconies when we traveled with our son. We were always in an inside stateroom. I know on Celebrity when they have their deals they will lower 3/4 person rate and sometimes they even sail free. Today and tomorrow there is a 7 night Alaska cruise on Millennium sailing June 3, 2016 the 3/4 person is $399.

So would 3/4th adults pay a discounted rate.

3/4 discount rate is never age dependent on Royal. So does not matter if they are 18 months or 88 years; if they are the 3rd and 4th in a room there is a discount. But in looking recently it is not a very big discount at all.

And I didn't say you said they were all low. I have never seen a $299 fare on any cruise we booked with our son, even for an interior cabin. If you were able to get low fares like that on Celebrity, good for you, but as you see from the posts here, those rates are not common on Royal Caribbean.

We have noticed that overall Celebrity's prices were usually lower then RCCL's when we were pricing out cruises. Not sure why.

Wasn't the original bogoho preceeded by kids or 3rd and 4th sail free?

I haven't read the whole thread, but as far as I was aware everyone who sails (whether a child or 3rd/4th passenger) receives a point per night. Nothing changed did it?

For example, when I started cruising in 2003, I was under 18. I should have the points for those cruises on my account, correct?

Not sure that your logic holds up. When I book on a BOGOHO, my wife technically pays half of what I do. So she shouldn't get points either? Not that it would matter because as husband and wife we share points. I know a couple that had never cruised together. She made Pinnacle. A few months ago he cruised with her for the first time. Guess what level he is. All according to Royal's rules. But by your logic he would be only gold.

I thought Pinnacle was the only level you couldn't marry in to? I guess I was incorrect on that.

You can marry into Pinnacle, but kids cannot get Pinnacle by virtue of their parents.

As Bob said, you were incorrect in that. However, the case that I stated, they were married the whole time that she was cruising. He had many job commitments all over the globe so she traveled alone.
