Husband is now a cruise ship snob! Doesn't want to do 5 day Majesty.

Has anyone here had their spouse turn into a cruise ship snob? Saw the 5 day cruise in Jan. 2018 on Majesty for a great price! We even live about 4-4 1/2 hours away from Port canaveral-so short drive. We just got off Oasis in May ( our second time) we are going in December 2016 on Freedom (my third time-his second). We have mainly done Voyager type years ago -and the Freedom classes , Oasis classes in the last 10-12 years-except for a short Bahamas cruise-Sovereign-maybe 6-7 years ago. He thinks the Majesty would " be a let down after Oasis! I agree that the ship can not compare to the larger ships- but it is still a cruise ! Anyone else had this problem after going on "nicer ship" cruises:(.

We did the Allure TA last year, disembarked and then went straight to Majesty for a 3 night. We actually much preferred majesty!!

I'm with him. I wouldn't let a good price sway me on it, either. My vacation time is worth more than a trip on Majesty!

 

She had her day, but there are way too many better options to justify it now.

I have not been on the Oasis family. We have been on the radiance class and Voyager Class. We prefer the Radiance over the Voyager. So sometimes bigger is not always better.

We're the same way. If the ship isn't voyager class or larger, DH is no longer interested. I'm ok w/smaller if it's a port intensive itinerary but probably wouldn't go back to Majesty no matter how cheap.

I hope you are in a suite...did you see the size of the interior (114 sq ft), OV (120 sq.ft.) and Sup OV ( 155 sq. ft.)....the only balcony cabins are the suites! YIKES!

My DH has also turned in to a cruise snob...he only wants a suite, but I keep talking him into a balcony because I find deals for half the price of a suite! We only go on voyager class or larger.

We did 11 days on Monarch over Christmas and New Years in 2012 and to date that is still one of our favorite cruises. I would not let the ship alone sway my decision.

If it's Majesty or no cruise, I'd definitely do Majesty.

I Felt somewhat like your husband at first. I was spoiled by the big ships. I just got off Majesty a couple weeks ago. If you try to compare the two ships you will be disappointed. You have to temper your expectations. Like you said its still a cruise. As long as you don't stress the little things wrong and just enjoy it for what it is its still a good time. I already made reservations for the day in January 2018 so you see my feelings on this.

With me its more that I'm not excited about anything less than a week. Also prefer larger ships but not a deal breaker. With shorter cruises the packing and traveling to and from port : Actual sailing/vacationing ratio is not good enough. Seems like you just get to the point of being able to really relax and you have to pack and go back home. I guess a B2B would be an option.

For me, it's not the ship size that's the problem, it's the cruise length. B/c we have to fly, we no longer take any cruises shorter than 7 nights.

I agree with your husband, neither the wife or I, want anything to do with the smaller ships. I'd rather spend a little more money and cruise on a different ship.

1. Only a Five Night cruise :(

2. Small ship with even smaller cabins :(

3. 4.5 hour drive (each way) :(

We haven't sailed an Oasis Class, but have been on Radiance Class and a Freedom Class, I would not trade down to a smaller ship, plus having to fly from the West Coast & back so we do the longer cruises. I do hope we can do an Oasis Class.

I wouldn't call it being snobby, but I have the same problem. Although we've sailed on HAL's smaller ships, we've only sailed on Oasis and Allure with RCCL. Hubby is tired of the same old ports that the Oasis and Allure go to, but I feel as though I would be disappointed if I sailed on Royal's smaller ships. Now, I don't mind booking HAL's newest ship which is much smaller, but that's a new ship and we both like to sail on new ships.

I have cruised on every class, and on almost every ship in the fleet.

 

I would (and will) cruise the Majesty in a heartbeat.

 

Lots of good memories on that ship, and I plan to make some more.

Old, expensive for what you get and tends to break down.

Lol My DH is, too, but for him it's more port ratio and length of cruise. Anything less than 10 days and under 70% port to days ratio he scoffs at; it's a tad annoying to this "I'll do any cruise" girl. [emoji5]

I'm with your hubby. I personally only do Radiance-Freedom. I did Sovereign in 04 and I said never again. I felt the interior room was small even for 2 ppl. If anyone fits four ppl in those rooms it would look like a Tetris game :p
