Just came off the Equinox, by the way a great cruise, but why advertise Elegance Chardonnay aka Kendall Jackson and not have it!!!!!!!!!

Every day on the TV is the commercial of the collaboration of Kendall Jackson and X. Can't find it any where!!!!! Before hatters come out I read a ton about lobster not being available.

Every bar we went to "no we don't have that" but we have St Francis. I did not see St Francis on the TV!

We have the Premium Backage every time wanting what we desire but my DW has to drink St Francis! Went to the Gastro Bar and they had the bottles lined up, had one pour went back and we have no more! Really!!!??

Just have to say, if you so support Kendall Jackson.....have it on the ship!

By the way the other couple we were with by day 4 out of 10 they ran out of Pio Grigio. Before the hatters come out I understand you can't project how much to supply on the ship..............

Just saying...........

I can sympathize with the OP. On our recent cruise the desert menu featured a desert wine every single night on a 14 trip.

It turns out that they set sail with one half bottle for the duration!

By day 11 Tuscan had ran out of three of the wines our party of six tried to order. They don't do inventory management very well when it comes to wine.

We just got off the Equinox and while we did not order the Elegance Chardonnay we did try the Cab and Pinot Noir and both were very smooth and had great legs. They did offer a Louis Jadot Steel chardonnay that was fantastic, I had that on multiple nights.

I personally would choose anything with the Louis Jadot label over any Kendall Jackson label...but thats just me.

A comment to the OP about the topic of this thread ~ We've experienced the same thing on our last two Celebrity cruises when we've had the premium drink package. About to book again and hoping to see some improvements in this area.

Anne, Thanks for your comments and stepping in. Was hoping X would read this and think about the experience, :)

I was told by the F&B manager on Infinity this past October that the advent of beverage packages is the cause of the dwindling bottled wines.

The hostess in Luminae told him that I was bringing some nice champagnes with me for dinner each night, and he wanted to meet me and have a taste. I asked him why there were no longer any of my faves on the Wine List. That's what he told me.

I'll tell you this: if you have a favorite wine, perhaos you should consider bringing it with you.

Agree, Love Santa Margarita, that is the only one we buy any more.;)

I use the Santa Margarita for my piccata sauce and it comes out perfect every time, will use nothing else. It's funny, because all of my friends tease me about wanting to drink my cooking wine!

I have to agree that the wine offerings are a source of frustration. On our 1/22 Eclipse cruise, a Gruner Veltliner was listed on many menus, but never available. We had the premium beverage package, and I found the white wine options very disappointing.

I agree that it's best to use the same quality wine in your cooking as you do in your drinking. That makes sipping while cooking all the more enjoyable ;p

A couple of cruises ago we felt the same frustration the first couple of nights of the cruise....we had research the wine lists on here (particularly for the specialities)...we would request one wine and they would say not available and suggest another.

After the first couple of nights we stopped asking for the wine list and asked for recommendations saying what type of wines we liked. If they suggested one we didn't know (frequent occurrence as we tend to be quite conservative) we would ask to taste first and ask for something else if we didn't like. Most of the time the choices were excellent!

Last two cruises we have not asked for the wine list we have simply asked for recommendations. We now see this as a real 'plus' for the premium package as we are trying so many new wines - if we were buying by the bottle we would remain conservative and stick to something we knew and trusted.

Perhaps Celebrity should change its descriptions of specific types of wine to 'having a great selection at a range of prices.....' this would then stop people feeling let down when they had boarded with an expectation of drinking specific brands being disappointed.

In the UK we used to have a great TV chef called Keith Floyd in the 80's and 90's. He was always seen with a glass in hand when cooking and often joked that he'd donated his liver for the good of his TV series. I'm sure many fellow Brits on here remember him fondly.

Anyway, he'd always say "If it's not good enough to drink, it's not good enough to cook with.....".

Your post reminded me of him! :)

On Equinox in February we did the same. Always asked the wine steward recommenations.

In Ensemble Lounge we could get St. Francis every, single night. That's one of my very favorites. I also love La Crema but it was nowhere to be found.

We also love Elegance. It is bottled by Kendall Jackson. Celebrity wines have always been Kendall Jackson. Not as good as my St. Francis or La Crema but when in Rome!!

I agree. Celebrity should change their system of only being able to get certain wines in certain bars. This is simply ridiculous. You can get St. Francis at the bar in the casino also.

Now, don't start any rumors but we were told by the wine steward that they are re-vamping the wines and are going to make changes, yet again. Nothing like screwing things up again.

Oh well, drink up folks, no matter what you choose:D:cool:

On our Dec 2016 cruise on Sillouette I ordered a number of different wines off the menu in Luminae and I was never told it wasn't available.

However! In Tuscan I ordered the Raymond Reserve merlot. We love their reserve cabernet and I thought this would be a good opportunity to try the reserve merlot. When the sommelier brought the wine he began pouring and I glanced at the label so I would remember what it looks like and it was a different wine! It was a reserve merlot but not what I ordered and I guess he didn't think it appropriate to mention that. I have to admit it was a bit of a turnoff. Didn't think the overall experience in Tuscan was great and would be unlikely to try again.

Should also note that everything else on this cruise was fantastic including the beauty of the ship itself.

Just out of curiosity, did you return the bottle of wine?

I am very surprised to hear the ship did not have any inventory of the Elegance Chardonnay (KJ). My DW drinks it a lot and it has been on every ship since it was introduced. Prior to it's introduction they used to call the KJ version the Celebrity Chardonnay. She drinks it a lot and although it is not offered in every location it was always available some where. But we have never cruised on the Equinox, but all the other S Class ships multiple times.

The lack of any inventory is very odd. where did you normally dine?

So you "Cant find it any where!!!!!

Apart from Murano where you ate 3 times according to your later post, and the other speciality venues.

I still would choose the other offerings recommended on this thread...even in Murano.
