Cute! I had to think twice about what you were saying. I wonder if the Daily Pursuit will be renamed?

Maybe there should be three versions: Daily Pursuit, Daily Quest and Daily Journey.........

Just a thought!

Nice to have a wider choice of destinations to choose from. I suspect that if Az want the new ship to be the same as the existing two then a lot of work will be required as the Adonia has no 'Club Continent' suites on deck eight it only had standard veranda cabins.

This would be a good opportunity to gut the entire 8th deck and make it ALL Club Continent suites [and then follow through on Journey and Quest in their next major dry-docks]. This is what the Oceania and Princess 'R-ships' are like, and it offers a nice proportion of roomy cabins and (especially) bathrooms.

Thank you all for the response. I knew this community would be over the moon with the news of a third ship and more destinations! I got up at 4am to post this, so you'd be the first to know

Now I'm going back to bed for a couple hours...see you in a few!

Maybe while you're asleep you can dream up a new name. Pursuit sounds like a board game.

This is such fantastic news that I had to take time from my Italian holiday in Lake Garda to express my joy! Let's hope that we will get some interesting new Med itineraries on Azamara Pursuit. Maybe a cruise and stay from Lake Garda or Lake Como and a Croatian and Greek Islands cruise departing from Venice? My idea of Heaven. 😄

I echo Hazel's thoughts and hope that Ryzhard and Tony get their own ship. They surely both deserve it.

Lottie

I would love to see Ryzhard and Tony have their own ship. The big question would be who would they bring in for Captain, Staff Captain and the second of both for holidays. Matt and Lee can not sing or dance. I am not sure they could become a CD base on that. I do not think they can jump to 3 ships. So the big question is who that we know or do we get newbies from Royal to help out.

I know Royal been hiring but the top people i hope is someone we know for deck 4 and on bridge.

Thank you aussie travel bird :*

October will be perfect timing...we expect to open the Pursuit for her 2018 bookings in October 2017.

Early October, I hope - we depart Quest on the 21st! So happy to see another ship in the fleet and hoping that there will be some decently priced itineraries on all three as a result.:D

If the handover is in March ( see post # 30 ) but sailings don’t start until August 2018, that is a very long time in dry dock.

I like the idea of a very long time in drydock. Given that Journey's two week reimagination was completed during revenue sailings and Quest had to shorten our cruise in order to get her drydock started early, more time is way better than less.

Captain Jose?

he has a ship. Captains work about 12 weeks and get two months off. I think that is right. no matter what each ship needs two captains and two of everything else in top officers. Some work 4 months but most work less. his would be the time to give German his own ship vs jumping. same with Lee or Matt. But I have no idea for Land or Future Cruise. those contracts i think are 4 months. Thabi could have her own ship. who knows?

Carlos Ojeda was LCV and Future Cruise on Quest new to Azamara and a real action man, put together some impressive video presentations for the big screen on deck 4 featuring his travels around the world to top adventure destinations. Gina Lashley was assisting having worked with P&O (UK) and Oceania previously.

It was obvious to anyone who had been with Azamara previously that staff were being trained with an eye to promotion, there were also some obviously very happy people onboard[emoji6]

Thinking about it 3 Hotel & Cruise Directors can cover two ships but adding an extra ship will require more than the addition of one of each to cover the rotation.

Wonderful news and, as usual, a lot of thoughts from Cruise Critic members (mostly very well thought-out). I may as well join in and hope mine are not too far fetched.

I assume that the current configuration has two captains per ship that are equally vested. But for now, The Journey has what I will call one "legacy Captain" (Johannes) plus Magnus who is great , but a relative new-comer. Quest has two captains that I would consider as "legacy" so one of them could take Pursuit and two new captains brought in (or staff captains promoted, if ready). That would give us three captains with long histories with Azamara and three newer captains.

Our first Azamara cruise was on Quest about 6 months after she joined the fleet (first transatlantic and first officially sponsored Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle). We'll be on Celebrity most of October and I am hopeful that we can find something on Pursuit with a decent promotional fare and itinerary that we like.

Not sure if staff captain Dario is still with Azamara but he would be a great Captain

Yes Staff Captain Dario is currently on Quest we had the pleasure of having dinner with him last week, a charming man.

Thabi has left Azamara.

Phil

Honestly i am not surprised by this. I saw her in July. She was not happy then. She did talk to me but i thought she last to end of year. She had just arrived and we had dinner twice plus drinks.

So who replaced her? We are short great people in several key areas. when we have 3 ships there will be new hires or pulled from RCI.

Michelle Graham is now manager and Richard, a former photographer, is her assistant.

Since all the other ships and companies have a name for each of their daily info and since Azamara ships have no home port what about the DAILY PLANET on Journey or what ever ship it is on. They cover the planet and we could all feel like Clark Kent

I like that. I would also like to see one of the experienced captains from the Quest moving to be Captain of the Pursuit.

Good news (tho I had preferedr a new build). Azamara finally getting a 3rd ship - they've waffled for years between existing tonnage vs. new build. Then punted and did nothing. I'm surprised they didn't buy the Pacific Princess; it's been for sale for a long time. And on Fathom, we were told the P&O folks were over joyed to be getting the Adonia back - they love that small ship!

We were on Fathom Adonia twice this past year -- Cuba in October and Dominican Republic in April. And on her in '08 to the Amazon when she was sailing as the Royal Princess. Styling very much like orig Renaissance -- will need total re-do to make it look like the current Journey and Quest. And it needs deck 8 gutted to incorporate the mini-suites, and to return the casino (P&O took it out). Don't know about mechanicals below deck that were mentioned previously (she ran fine on our two recent Fathom cruises).

We'll be on the Quest in April, so will find out details first-hand. Looking to see what new and unique itineraries the Pursuit will sail.

Obviously thrilled by the arrival of a new Azamara ship... At the moment not that excited by the name. Perhaps there could have been a CC post "If there was a new Azamara ship what should it be named?"..

Pursuit to me sounds like chasing something, of course this could be a dream or the pursuit of happiness.

I would have suggested Azamara Venture which I think is more in line with Quest and Journey....just my thoughts.

Since P&O and Princess are both owned by Carnival Corp, I assume this was the one they preferred to sell. There had been strong opinions on this board that Carnival would never sell anything to RCL, so this opens the hope that Pacific Princess could someday become the 4th Azamara ship. If they keep getting charters, it is sure easier to swap ships when they are all the same!
