Michael's Club?

I have seen so many references to Michael's Club and am very confused. This is apparently reserved on S class for suite guests only. What advantages are there to being allowed in this venue? There are free drinks, but is that at certain times only?

Michael's Clubs are on both M- and S-class ships. It is a venue open to suite passengers and also Zenith level members of the Captain's Club. Depending on usage patterns on a particular cruise it generally opens about 7 AM and will be staffed until midnight.

The MCs are staffed by a concierge and additional servers. Alcohol and non-alcohol drinks are available (no charge) throughout the day. Tea forte and coffee drinks are also available, as are sodas, juices etc. Additionally, in the morning there will be fruit plates, Danishes and so forth which will transition to an afternoon tea (generally from 3:30 to 4:30 PM) to canapés in the early evening. There is no charge for any of the beverages or food offerings.

Others will elaborate on their own experiences, but we find it an important part of the suite life and a wonderful Zenith perk.

Nice description, great place to meet people and relax. Concierge can help you with reservations, etc. we had a transfer to the airport and were told to meet there, we were escorted off the ship by the concierge.

Thanks. We love the suite/ Pinnacle debarkation escort on RCI. Good to know suites get this perk on Celebrity. If drinks are free all day at MC and with the suite escort debark, we may just go for a suite next time. I was under the impression that alcoholic drinks were only for a short time in the evening in MC. If no need to buy the drinks package, we could just opt for a one perk of gratuities and the price would not be so much more than a suite on RCI,

As of late, suites generally have been getting the Go Best package....free grats, premium drink package, free internet, and $300 OBC. So unless you're taking a trip where that promotion doesn't apply, then it's a good deal. I have shopped other offers from several different lines but with that package, I've found Celebrity to be cheaper than most. This has been the case over the past 2 or 3 years of looking.

True for some sailings but on TA's and other repositioning cruises only Royal Suites and above gets the Go Best package

No, Royal Suites and above do not get the Go Best promotion. On transatlantic you do not get included gratuities. That is an additional $17 per person per day.

You do get the Premium Beverage Package, Unlimited Internet, and Unlimited Specialty Dining. We also received a $300 per cabin credit but I think we would have had this with any Suite.

I stand corrected...the gratuities aren't included...but the rest of go best is....for Royal Suite and above. It is NOT included for CS or below.. I know this because we have been in CS for 3 TA's and have one coming up in April. The only perks we received were because we booked on board and the free gratuities and OBC were the perks offered. No beverage package, no internet.

We were in Michaels Club for disembarkation today on the Reflection. Previously, we had been allowed to wait there until 9:30 or 10 am enjoying Bloody Mary’s. Today the concierge forced us out at 8:30 saying she had to get the lounge ready for embarking passengers. She also stated tha t th custom and immigration people were leaving (not true). We were escorted the few feet to the gangway, nothing more. I hope she is not expecting a glowing review. It can be a great place but not this cruise.

Since when did they stop using the palanquin?!? Don't they know who you are?

It used to be open to all. We loved watching Perry Grant on the Eclipse do his shtick. Now it's mostly for the suites & Zenith members. It is a nice club to have a relaxing drink & socialize before heading off to dinner or a show.

Not sure when (of if) it was open to all. I think it used to be open to CC Elite and Elite+ members in addition to Zenith members. Now it is only Suites and Zenith.

The change came when the new levels were announced. It was phased in from ship to ship. Bryan from Corporate and Lucy went ship to ship to train the MCC.

They often do a Coast Guard inspection when a ship arrives following the TA. The ship must be cleared ASAP so they are ready for the new passengers. I once had to wait 2 hours for boarding due to the inspection. That's probably why you were rushed.

Sorry, but that is very unfair on the concierge (dependent upon how they performed the rest of the trip). It is always a challenge when the ship first arrives into the US from a season in Europe because the US authorities want everyone off ASAP. As Orator says there maybe inspections in the morning too. It's a tough day for the crew.

We received a note from the MC concierges that we had to be off the ship at 8:20 AM for a transfer that didn’t depart until 10:00 AM. This was after we had originally been told we could stay on board until around 9:30. We were off the ship and through Customs in about 20 minutes and spent over an hour sitting on the bus waiting to depart.

We had a number of issues during the cruise which were a result of what I will chalk up to inexperience with the MC concierges on the Reflection TA. Thank goodness for Bogdan who had been promoted to the Suites Manager and sorted everything out.

Michael’s club when suites only were for Celebrity suites, Royal Suites and the Penthouse suites. I believe it was a cigar bar prior to suites only. Michael’s was then extended to include sky suite and zenith guests.

I find it a great perk. The host in michaels helps suite guests in a variety of ways including priority disembarkation.

Zeniths were included when the program started. On Century, the Century Suite was also included. The Cigar bar was on the M Class ships. They went through several transformations before the Suite and Zenith venue.

Best perk is the club concierge will get assist with getting you

off the ship for private shorexs and also ship excursions. You wait in Michael's Club until called. They escort you down to the transport. No crowds. Makes a big ship smaller and more personable.

So true. The unfortunate thing about Michael's Club is that so many people have restricted vision and simply remember it in the incarnation that they liked most. However, during our (relatively short) cruising career, it has been many things.

It had stopped being a Cigar Bar before we started cruising in June 2006. At that time, I remember it being used as a venue for small organised activities. By our second cruise, it had morphed into a piano bar plus a venue for Elite breakfast and cocktails. Elites had outgrown the room by our third cruise. In 2012, Michael's Club was reserved for higher end suites. In 2013, the new suite perks were introduced during our cruise and, I guess, at that point the new Zenith's were given access. By out 2014 cruise, the new suite perks had been introduced and Michael's Club took on its present form except that Sky Suites were not yet admitted. That came by the time of our 2016 cruise.

Thanks for the history of MC. Excellent summary. I think the name Michael's Club is interesting. Does anybody know who Michael was??
