Embarkation day go to

It obviously varies a lot by ship. Beyond lunch somewhere - it depends on if I've been on the ship before and if I'm sailing with a group. If I'm sailing with a large group we're usually hanging out somewhere in the sun getting our drink on regardless of if it's a new ship or not. If I've been on the ship before I usually go to wherever I previously liked to chill with a drink. If it's a new ship I'm usually roaming the ship trying to get a lay of the land...with a drink in my hand.

Hmmm....seems I have a pattern 😂

Lunch, walk around, then check on if room is ready.  If not ready, then drinks somewhere scenic 🙂

note, we are trying to not duplicate ships yet.  Once we start doing ships a second time it will be: lunch, drinks by the pool till room is ready 🙂

I'm usually not even aboard by the time the room is ready. I'd just rather not queue up to check in, then queue up to board, then queue up for food, then fight through similarly queuing passengers to get to anyplace with carry on bags when by simply having a late brunch someplace ELSE, I can show up at the port 90 at about 1:30 or 2:00, walk straight up to counters and gangways, and my cabin is almost certainly ready before I actually board.

I wear my bathing suit under my clothes....so I don't have to find someplace to change!  I hit the pool, get a drink, call my friends and gloat a bit....and enjoy the warm Florida weather until the cabin is ready!  We eat a late breakfast, so I don't have to be part of the feeding frenzy that seems to overtake people boarding a ship!  I'll grab a cookie or something later, if I need to!

We would get lunch, wait for rooms to open and drop off & unpack our carry on's then go out  and look for people we know and return to the room around 3 PM to see if our luggage was dropped off, unpack those and wait for Muster. Most recently I have gone with a carry on so not waiting for my luggage.

Question regarding this topic. What do people do with their carry on bags if their room isn't ready?

I used to carry too much on. Now I limit myself to a small backpack with camera, swimsuit and t shirt.

Have your carry on with wheels...wheel it around with you.  Think airport as you are waiting to board the plane.

Back packs are a pain in the butt, and usually end up smacking someone when you have it on and turn around in the elevator.  😮 😞

We wait in the CL or DL reading, enjoying some coffee, checking emails, and calling specialty restaurants to book reservations.

On Oasis class it's the SL...nice!  We drop our bags in there, then have a nice quiet lunch at CK.  My favorite!  😄

I carry on my backpack and a small tote with our cruise documents and the all important wine 🍷, DH also has a small backpack with his necessaries.

We board, then go to the casino to take pictures while it doesn't stink of smoke, then hang out near Cafe Promenade with specialty coffees and snacks until time to go to our room. Usually, just an hour or so from boarding to the room being ready.

Windjammer and pool deck are the most popular and crowded, so not where we go. We learned after our first two cruises just how crazy it gets.
