I know it's bending the rules but go cash them out at the casino (tell the cashier you want cash to go to the tables).

How does this work?  I've never played at NCL casino before.  You just go to the casino cashier and say I want to cash out all my OBC?

The way I approach it is go to the cashier and say that I would like to take out $100 in cash to use at the tables so I don't overspend on my account while playing.  I think you get charged a 3% fee, so they charge your account $103 and hand you $100 bill.  At that point you can do whatever you like with your cash.

Oh, they charge 3%!  That's not good.  But if that's one way to take out at the end of the cruise and not lose it, I guess that's the price to pay.

I remember long ago, on Carnival we'd put the OBC to a Casino account and you can play a quarter or a dollar for a slot machine, then go cash out the rest of that Casino account.  Don't know if that still works at Carnival.

I mean, 3% of 100 on a 7 day cruise is nothing, and 3% of the max reward is 7.50, I don't think that is a lot to pay to have 242.50 back in your pocket if that is what you are hoping to do.  Again, I suppose everyone is different.

You're right it's still pretty good.  The way it worked with Carnival was better, could just move to Casino account and withdraw 100% (but a slot machine plays make it to sound a little better).

In the past I'd put it toward buying CNC, but too bad NCL's not allowing that.

Let's hope that known loophole isn't going to get shut down next.  I've mentioned this elsewhere before, DW always "raid" the duty-free gift shop early in the cruise week, before their stock or inventory of select items run low.  She never "buy" enough cosmetics using those "unused" non-refundable OBC that we used to get piled up.  Now, I am going to suggest that other CC'ers become duty-free cigarette "runners" - you can buy, bring them him & gift them away, within the limits of US CBP or your home country's duty-free.  Ditto for liquor but yeah, we stopped spending $$ for those pricey "photo" package deals ...  Perhaps, just need to think outside the "box" on the possibilities.

On our next booked cruise, it seemed like we will partially used up some of the OBC to upgrade our WiFi minutes to the unlimited plan, so that will take a good bite out of the pie.

I am in the UK, if I buy 100 NCL shares in my LLoyds Bank stockbroking account they will be held in nominee name, its an all online account and I do not get paper documents, will a printout of my account holding be enough evidence?

So I went ahead and bought 100 shares today, they are clearly stated on my portfolio now so I can show the evidence, I have no cruises booked at the moment, waiting for the Black Friday sale to book for February 22, can someone advise if you have to apply via submission of the evidence for the OBC for each cruise you book or submit it just once, i.e. now before I book? Will it be added automatically in future?

We could not use Shareholder OBC for CruiseNext on October 24 Bliss cruise out of Los Angeles.

After I returned I talked to NCLH about this. They said that Shareholder OBC cannot be used to purchase promotional items. CruiseNext and CruiseFirst are considered promotional items. I asked them to update their web site to reflect this so no one is surprised.

Thank you for this information.  As I mentioned I am on the Bliss now.  Figured that that $100 had to be spent somewhere else.  Then I check my bill again.  The stockholder OBC didn't even cover the additional tax on drinks purchased in San Pedro.  Even with the drink package everyone was charged an additional 9 percent tax.  My charges were $6.60.  I went nuts.  Well let's just say persistence and maybe cruise history pays a big part.  Surprise Surprise. Stockholder OBC applied cruise next purchase.  I now have a $6.60 bill that I am more than willing to pay.  Thank you NCLH and the guest service crew on the Bliss.  You have always had my back.✌️😁

See link below for NCLH shareholder benefits, request form & instructions/how to and FAQ, etc.

https://www.nclhltd.com/brands/norwegian-cruise-line

You submit your request after booking, prior to embarkation & allow time for processing as you need to provide the reservation/confirmation # so that it can matched and credited to the stateroom's onboard account for the non-refundable OBC to be issued.  It is not and will not be automatically issued for the next or subsequent sailing, not a submit once & then profit arrangement.

You will get an email confirmation of receipt within 1 business day for the submission, and usually upon processing (timeframe varied ...) & posting to the linked stateroom booking, a follow-up email to inform, and, upon embarkation, posted to the onboard account, sometimes by Day 2 (or sooner).

Just curious if anyone is waiting on their shareholder credit?  I submitted Tuesday morning and haven't received a response as of yet.  I'll give it more time but wondering if anyone else is experiencing a back-up.

I submitted my request by email this morning at 11:48AM and it posted at 1:50PM

I cruised solo several times but always received 100% (f.e. 100 USD for 7-day cruise). I see that NCL probably started to limit this benefit in different ways.

I have always received the 100 as a solo, whether in a solo  studio cabin or a balcony.

I was very annoyed by this as well. I did not know they had stopped it and forgot to check my account on last night of Epic. Left the shift with 150 of obc unused.I definitely would have gone and bought a stuffed animal or 2 if I had known.

So I can no longer use it for cruise next or for tips. They need to add it to the  advance system so you can use it for on line in advance purchases like shore excursions. RCCL did it finally so it can't be that complex as RCCL has the worst website by far.😃 I guess Ill try the casino route of asking for it for table play. I think you can just do it in slots also as described as the Carnival way.

And unrelated, but I have never received an email notifying me of the obc, it just appears in my account.🤷‍♀️

anyone had an issue getting the benefit for a last minute booking? We just booked Saturday for a sailing on 12/4 on Escape. Submitted the form this morning, fingers crossed!

Wow! far from a problem. Emailed the form at 9:30 this morning, received the amenity confirmation showing the OBC at 3:30pm. Fast!

they might decline it because they require you to to request it at least 15 days prior to the cruise

Where would I see it posted? I sent my request Thursday before 11am ET. (I did receive the automatic reply that NCL received my email.) Haven’t seen another email. TIA!

Check your eDocs - it should be listed/posted there as additional amenities (wait till next Monday or Tuesday, as that office is on a M-F work schedule ...)

It is usually posted on the summary page on MyNCL.  Note: if you have other OBC credits it might not show.  Doubtful you will get any response on the weekend.

For an upcoming cruise in February I already have a $100 OBC (non-refundable) that was part of my booking perks from earlier this year. Others have stated that NCLH will not issue further OBC for our shareholders benefit if one already has some above mentioned OBC credit for this cruise.  Other OBC should have nothing to do with a shareholders benefit.

That said, not sure if I should submit the request for the shareholders bene or if it is a waste of time. Don't want to waste their time or mine if it's a no go type of deal.  Thanks for any input or clarity to this.

By all means, submit it.  It's not difficult and NCL in the past has been very unpredictable (at least for us) as to whether they apply the OBC or not.  Definitely worth a few minutes of your time.

As far as I know, the shareholder benefit is applied regardless of any other obc.  I've always gotten it.  But the way their website works, you might not see it on your summary page.
