I am wondering how long it took for Captain and HD to present all those medallions and get  a  photo of all the recipients with Captain and HD taken.   Must be close to a record number given on a single cruise? 

 

Do you happen  to  know how many days  that cruise was?  which ship?  What year?  2019 ?

It maybe the 209 WC as they gave out a lot!  They moved pretty fast, probably thirty or so minutes.  Seems like it started at 10:15.

May 2013, the last 15-day segment of a Prinsendam Grand Med from Barcelona to FLL.  The medals were given out in the main showroom, which was about 2/3 full of medal holders or new recipients.  IIRC the copper/bronze recipients didn't go up on stage for a picture while everyone was there, but were welcomed to go up afterward if they wanted to.

I still cannot figure out what happens to this {Star Mariner} Program after  eing a five star for years already, still sailing, getting more 'worthless   day credits'.  There is no future to a program that has already  maxed out.

 

Does anyone know o f additions or substantial continuation plans?  Days I   earn    now have  no value.   after Five stars, then w hat?  Stop sailing?  hmmmm,  nice way to treat their most loyal guests.

We got our first & only Medallion 4 yr ago...maybe it was Copper. We tossed it in wastebasket. Thought it was dumb. I rather have a perk worth something like 50% off for internet use with **** status. Although, I love having free laundry!

What was 'dumb' was taking it in the first place, then tossing it in a wastebasket. There's enough going to the landfills as it is. 
You could have just not accepted it in the first place. It could have gone to someone who wanted it, saving a little money for the company, and a little space in the landfill.

How would you know if it was recycled or not.  The Medallion isn’t dumb, what is dumb is accepting something you have no interest in and then throwing it away.

Nobody said this piece of plastic was to be cherished like a family heirloom. I had no idea where we were going to put them.... back of the closet in a box never to be seen again. I didn't see the point. We have great pictures in a digital frame on the kitchen counter that I glance at & they give me more memories than a "copper" medal. As it was, we moved a year later & downsized a lot. The "medal" probably would not have made the cut.

Another benefit to attending the ceremony is they give you a free drink of your choice! When we got our 100 day medal I asked for and got a gin and tonic and Mrs. DD had a lemon drop. I got the old style medal and Mrs. DD got the new style. The Captain presented them. After the ceremony we were all escorted to the dining room and we wore our new adornments.  Various people asked what they were. We enjoyed the ceremony and liked the medallions. But, please don’t ask us where they are now! I think they are in the infamous “safe place”!

Don't forget, Sail, that there is the President's Club level after the 5 Star has been reached.  But, I believe one needs 1400 actual days at sea in order to qualify for that Mariner Society recognition.

That is by invitation and  not officially part of Mariner Star Progam to the best of my knowledge.  It is NEVER listed when Star Mariner  information charts are distributed.

 

Same as the Mariner Medallion Program only actual days on ship or Alaska tour count.. not spending or bonus days for occupying  a  suite

When we got our medallion there was a man there that had 1625 days, I think.

🙂  Maybe I should  give that idea some serious  consideration?   Yikes !  Now there's a profound decision to make.  I wonder if a permanent 'live  aboard'  gets mariner days?

Sail check with HAL as I believe there is some discount for living on a ship. Long time ago, we met Mama Lou on the Statendam. She only sailed on ships out of Tampa as it was close to her home in the Villages. I believe you can sail on any ship you want to. Go for it!

The Medallions really are not that heavy, nor are they especially bulky.  I pack mine inside my rolling carry-on, usually in one of the tiny inside pockets that line the inside-edge of the bag. It takes up space that would have been filled with air, and the weight is negligible.  Between cruises they, along with pins and other HAL doo-dads, are on a shelf in my study.  They, along with my pics, help remind me of my many wonderful cruises.

 

There was a period of time when I was racking up shipboard 20 - 30 days a year.  It's been a long time since I had my feet on deck, and I miss it.  Perhaps I'll cruise more in the coming few years.  I've got a long way to go, however, to make it to 700.  That's ok ... I hope to live a lot longer, too. 😄
