Fairsky84 Posted October 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2019 This photo from her refurbishment in Singapore shows her with the light blue hull first used on the Oasis-class ships. Originally it was only to be a special color for that class, but then Quantum debuted with it too. Some of us wondered if RCI would use it fleet-wide. Now we know. It should be interesting to see this rollouts on other classes in the years ahead. Do you like the new look?

Saab4444 Posted October 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2019 It is very strange that they have not started this earlier. Why now when dry docks for many ships are already done?
Hogbay Posted October 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Someone got the order wrong so there is alot of blue paint to use up 🤣 https://cruisepassenger.com.au/australian-cruiser-turns-the-hull-of-voyager-of-the-seas-blue/ 3
Casino Comp Chick Posted October 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2019 It’s an ugly blue. It looks more like a shipping freighter then a cruise ship.

That might be a trend.

Do I recall something about the blue paint on Oasis class having properties that reduce drag and resist certain marine growth? Perhaps this was always going to happen!

Rare Ethanol95 Posted October 15, 2019 #12 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Why take the perfect white pearl look away. It made it classy. Now its just like someone made a mistake and decided to completely cover it up with blue (a terrible shade of blue i might add). Couldn't they at least have chosen a more appealing turquoise-ish blue..

Biker19 Posted October 15, 2019 #14 Share Posted October 15, 2019 So, which is more subjective, taste of food in the WJ or the shade of blue on the ship's hull? 5

Perhaps this was always going to happen! The hull blue used on Oasis and subsequent ships is very subject to lighting. The photo appears to be a very overcast day, where the blue is obvious. I've seen photos of Oasis in bright sunshine where it looks nearly white. The anti-fouling paint, below the waterline, is a dark blue, and yes it has teflon in the paint and produces a very hard finish that marine growth has a difficult time adhering to. 3

wolfcathorse Posted October 15, 2019 #23 Share Posted October 15, 2019 so now all the ships will look like the Oasis class ships, light blue bottom. You won't be able to tell from a distance which class of ship it is unless you look at her aft.
