Will you book another cruise on Princess ?

The short answer is YES. I can't wait until it opens up again. I'm far more fearful of catching something on the plane flying to the port area than on the cruise. I'm betting the safest place to not catch anything is on a cruise ship after this gets behind us. I'm also sure once they start up again the cruise lines will make sure they are as clean and bug-free as they possibly can be.

We have been on over 40 cruises - we go to the buffet all the time - we have never been sick...not a cough  or a cold or a GI problem....We wash our hands and use the antibacterials at the buffet....we have cruised all over the world....

WE love the casino and are not fearful of people.  The Corona virus has shed a very negative light on cruising and it is not justified.......we will cruise again when the ships start sailing.....We are not germaphobes - I think the people that are , are the ones that get sick all the time.

Stay safe and sail safe.

We are booked on the Island Princess for Christmas & New Year the one thing I am looking forward to is no more self serve buffet I am so tired of being behind some one who is eating or licking there fingers as they go through the buffet and then touching the utensils.

eclue,  I like your logic;  G&T Cruisers;  do people actually go to buffet and lick their fingers while they are in the line?  I have not seen this; so am curious about this happening.

Oh yes we were on the Sky Princess and a person in front of us in the buffet line was eating off their plate and licking their fingers and then touching tongs and spoons,I just thought why can't you wait until you get to your table.

It is going to change on cruise ships no matter if we like it or not if you see what Genting Cruises is going to do on their ships I think that will be coming our way.

yes, in fact we just booked 3 cabins & maybe a 4th for a Dec, cruise. we were on the Sky 03/07 cruise & had a wonderful time, no one was sick. Cruisers who were booked to stay on had to leave & were sorry to go. The staff were cleaning all the time & everyone were being reminded of washing our hands. Hands off to the staff. we tipped big as we left as the staff did not know their future. Lets pray for them.

We are long time cruisers but just joined this group.  We are loyal Princess cruisers and have two booked for next year 2021.  Both 2020 cruises were cancelled so we moved those trips to 2022.  So far this website has been very informative and we are enjoying reading others responses to the different topics.

I posted in this thread back in the beginning but here I am again. I'm actually going to paste stuff from another thread as I just put stuff there that likely belongs here instead. It's late. I've been "imbibing". Sorry about that. This was in a light-hearted "butter" thread but I got a bit "off topic". My bad. It happens. Especially late at night.

===================================================================

We really, really, really,  wish this crap wasn't screwing over our cruises.

Yes, I understand that this is a very minor issue in the overall scheme of things but... I am selfish. I believe that unselfish people are mostly a myth. People do act selflessly but they still probably have selfish instincts. They just overcome those instincts. Heck, I overcome them all the time. I still resent my cruises being messed with. We had plans. We had desires. We are people...

I love cruising with Princess - which is very odd as my wife and oldest son pretty much forced me to agree to our first cruise just to make my wife happy and put an end to the "stupid cruise crap" she wanted me to do.  (I totally blame my wife. She created the monster that is my cruise-obsessed person.) We were so totally stoked about our upcoming cruises this November/December. Freaking awesomely excited. It seems highly unlikely they will happen now as the countries involved probably don't want us to cruise to their shores.

I want to cruise! I want the "problem" of trying not to eat the dang rolls with butter. (Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... I love the rolls with butter...........) I want the"hassle" of deciding whether to go to the show or watch MUTS or listen to the music in the Piazza or hang out in Wheelhouse or...  GAH! I freaking love it all. I thought I would hate it all and it would be stupid and "uppity" and all that stuff but I was wrong. I love it and I miss it. Even if I actually had ever experienced the "great butter fiasco" I would still want to cruise. I feel like a junkie who was promised a fix and then had it cruelly yanked away.

I hope cruising comes back soon. I may be an idiot (I know a number of folks who would definitely agree with that assessment) but there really is nothing like it at all to take its place. I know some folks think cruising is now a horribly stupid thing to do. I simply can't help myself. Once the "cruise bug" has gotten you there is no way some other stupid "bug" can take that desire away.

To the folks in Australia and New Zealand: I'm sorry you probably don't want us to visit. I understand but it still saddens us. I don't know if we will ever get the chance again. To the folks we have met from those countries: Thanks for the good times onboard. You have all been great. We hope to cruise again and to meet many more of you. If we are lucky, we may be able to visit your countries some day after all of this insanity is over. Stay safe.

We will definitely sail on Princess again as Elite members but it will be next summer at the earliest because of other holidays already booked.

The crew on our last Princess cruise last November were much better than our previous RCL or P&O cruises.

Yes and we have booked two cruises for later this year.  If you study what Princess has done and will be doing for those that have booked voyages that have recently been cancelled, you would see that they are being very fair.  Remember they are also going the extra mile for all their employees and crew during this difficult period.

According to a recent Carnival filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, half of customers who sought cancellations between March 2 and March 15 for upcoming bookings opted to take credit for future cruises instead of a full refund. Almost all the passengers interviewed for this story say they’d cruise with the company again. After all, Carnival offered many of them free vouchers for future trips. “The more you travel with them, the more goodies they give you,” says Courter, a survivor of the Diamond Princess. “It’s like rats and cocaine.”

We have done 25 cruises with Princess, 2 with Carnival, and 3 with Celebrity.   Probably would never sail again with Carnival as it's just not a good fit for us.  Would definitely consider Princess again and also Celebrity.  But I'm really getting frustrated with Princess.  Be honest with your customers.  Tell us when and where you plan to be sailing.  Don't wait till the last minute to cancel cruises.  And don't take 60-90 days to provide refunds.  You took our money very quickly, give it back in a reasonable time.  And do't tell us that because of all the cancellations and requests for refunds that it takes longer.  It literally only takes a few keystrokes to input info into a computer and for the refund to be automatically generated.  Yes there are governmental restrictions on when you can sail again and how it will be done, but please be more upfront with your customers.  Otherwise you are going to lose many of them and I would hate to see that happen.  We are loyal Princess cruisers but as noted are getting very frustrated with them.

I like your positive attitude, you rock, but Jan should be working for a buck until all refunds are completed.  Instead she has chosen to make the workers walk the plank while she is getting rich.

I can not blame her, she should fill the treasure chest to the max before she is thrown overboard.

Sadly, yes.  We are buffet people and rarely go to the MDR, and sometimes some people exhibit really poor habits.    Most people are decent but the finger lickers are disgusting, carrying their plates of food around while scouting out other food stations, popping a deep fried shrimp into their mouth here and there, or eating fries while perusing other food stations, then picking up tongs with licked fingers.

My personal favorite is those who bring their used plates back to a food station for seconds and touch the spoon to their contaminated plate.

The article really doesn't offer much proof as to which crew members are effected and by how much.  At this time I haven't heard of any crew members completely laid off which is important since there are very many that have nothing to do to earn a wage during this crisis. Those that have no job to do are being returned to their home country without cost and still being paid.  Corporate wise I haven't heard of any reduction of compensation but rather they are working exceptionally long hours week long to work their way through the logistics of ship positions, planning cruise cycles, voyage cancellations and the issues regarding refunds of fares, additional compensation, new ship construction delays from shipyard closures and the impact on upcoming voyages, etc.  All this and more to get past a problem that Princess did not create but they get most of the press because they were upfront with the situation as best they could.

Jan has done a great job according to my sources on the inside.  Yes, she is ultimately responsible for the bottom line, but not at the expense of throwing the employees under the bus.  She needs to keep the team intact and that is what she has done.  I've met her and she doesn't appear to be someone to take the easy road to a solution.

On a different note, we all need to take care of our own patch on this planet and work with each other to solve a problem and not spending time on looking for someone to blame.  We are doing our part by continuing to be part of Princess by booking two more voyages for later this year which will bring us to 49 with Princess, buying more CCL stock and praying for a quick safe end to this pandemic.

Since no one has received a refund from cruises that Princess canceled I would hardly laud the Princess Corporation as an exemplary organization and think that they are not really doing anything that is benefiting it's guests but only denying that they are keeping the money owed to passengers to pad their own corporate pockets.......all the other travel corporations we have dealt with have been very transparent and issued refunds within in 14 days or provided valid and viable travel vouchers with in the same amount of time.....not Princess......why not?????

My refund of miles from my June flights on Delta took less than ONE DAY!  I'm sure no actual human being was involved.  It's all handled online or via computer.  This was for a nonrefundable, nontransferable ticket.

Back to topic - I'll wait until there is a vaccine or effective, low cost treatment for Covid-19.
