Cynthia, congrats on your parents getting appointments, I bet you will rest a little easier now :)

Kat, another thank you for your starting this little group, pretty sure you all helped me keep my sanity in the last year :)  It's been great getting to "know" everyone :)

Good morning,  Cynthia, happy to see your folks will be getting their shots!

I am sort of in "whenever it happens" mode.  I have no clue when those of us under 65 will be

allowed to get one.  I am not going to stress over it that is for sure. I am hardly ever around people and I always wear my mask.

Sharon, there is no topic to stick to on here😀......its all about "whatever you want to chat about" (with some exceptions of course.....)

I do have some "possible cruise news".....my TA (who I consider a really, REALLY good friend)

told me a new itinerary came out for a sailing in December.  It is a 2 week Caribbean cruise.

I am thinking about putting a deposit down and if the cruiseline cancels I won't lose anything.

I am deciding........the itinerary is really good and just the sound of the wake makes me yearn

to be back on a ship again........

I've had to beg myself out of "jail" a few times...

I had started feeling bad Saturday afternoon at work - a headache that wouldn't go away and nausea.  There were 3 of us for no work, so I went home.  Felt bad still Sunday, with an added "scratchy" throat.  And, still yesterday.  Good thing I have a boss who would rather me stay home (I had one before that would force me to come to work, even if I passed out - had to bring an ER note!!!).  Well, given that 2 of the 5 of us there had COVID in the past month as well as a few guests and I've made a few trips to the market, I decided to play it safe and get tested yesterday.  A PCR test so I didn't get the results until today - negative!!! Phew!!!  I'm not sure what it is, just enough to make me feel off, but throat isn't raw.  Anyway, with my symptoms and a test, my nice property management will give me "COVID pay" for my 5 days (staying off today and then I have my usual Wed/Thu days off).  We're a sad set at work - me long hauling, 2 COVID, 1 kidney stones...  My COVID co-worker asked me about losing hair - she started seeing wads coming out.  I had to tell her yes, that's a common long haul issue.  I've finally stopped losing quantity and have lots of new "fuzzies" cropping up.  I can tell how much I lost because my favorite hat is very loose on my head (I'm getting some stick-on sizers to help temporarily).  I told her to start with Biotin and find a shampoo/conditioner for thinning hair.  Poor thing - she's 22 and goes out to the bars but she has to wear a beanie all the time to hide the hair...

Lois - I hope that cruise comes off for you!!  I saw 2 15-day ones out of Port Canaveral on MSC.  That would tweek my curiosity.  I could stay at my friend's cottage in Cocoa Beach and then just jump on the ship...

I think I'm going to be a little lazy the rest of the day.   But, my silence just got shattered by a low-flying F-35a out of the AF Base up the way.  One word: muffler...

Lois, that cruise sounds intriguing :)   It's great that you have a TA who looks out for you :)   I'm still holding out hope for our May MSC cruise, probably silly, but final payment isn't till Feb. 18th, so I'll see how Europe is doing vaccine wise in a few weeks.  I have thanksgiving booked for a HAL cruise to Mexico with our younger DD & SIL, it goes out of San Diego, so we could take the train the night before, I feel pretty confident about that one going :)   We were booked for last Thanksgiving, & HAL offered 150% of our deposits to book the same one for this year,  it's cheap, all inclusive & they threw in some specialty dining, so I'm excited.

Kat, so glad to hear that you are negative, & that your hair & brows are coming back :)  hopefully you can get vaccinated soon considering your job puts you at risk

my cousin who had covid pretty bad (hospitalized twice in Sept/Oct)  is now losing her hair in chunks, she's only 60, & of course it's very upsetting.   I think a lot of people who thought this was no biggie are starting to see the long term effects.

Hi girls, not sure if any of you saw this today but starting on FEB 11th, Direct shipments of

vaccines will be shipped to over 6000 pharmacies around the country!  (that is next week).

I will keep my eyes open to see if any of those will be shipped near me.

As for the Dec cruise----it goes to places I have been to but who cares LOL........15 nights on

a ship sounds lovely to me😀  Sailing from Ft. Lauderdale............

The first week goes to to:

Grand Turk

St Thomas

Antigua/Barbuda

Domenica

Barbados

2 sea days in between

Then it goes to

Grenada

St Vincent

St Lucia

St Kitts

San Juan

2 sea days and then back to Ft. Lauderdale

Kat, hope you stay healthy!

Lois, I read in one of my Florida groups that DeSantis is having Publix as his primary destination for the vaccines.  The distribution of which counties will have Publix supplied is suspect.  He said he doesn't need Federal help.

Sometimes a cruise is the destination...  You never know - a little research may find an interesting gem that escaped your eye before.

Thanks for the well wish.  It's really annoying.

Hey, I have not followed what he is doing lately.

I know many of the Publix have vaccinations now but NONE here in Duval County.  And

I know I am not in the group allowed to get one yet.

Kat, glad you were negative

we got our first vaccine today (Safeway grocery). Zero wait, we had appts & actually walked in early. We’re scheduled for our 2nd vaccine (Moderna) for March 2. No side effects yet, may take a Tylenol before bed tonight, maybe not. Melody

We didn't have any reaction to the 1st ones either but today at my pulmonologist's office, the LPN there said after her 2nd one she was achy, nauseated, dizzy, felt weakened.....hope that doesn't happen to any of us....

At our trial center they call that a "robust immune response" ;)

There was an article detailing second jab effects here in Florida...a doctor was one of the lead people detailed in the article. He said that he was having hallucinations...that it was like he had gotten a shot of mushrooms. DH thought that might actually encourage more people to get the second shot...LOL.

Edit to add...here's the link to the article:

So we got our long awaited first vaccine yesterday afternoon at Safeway (a grocery like Publix). Last night both Les & I got an urgent message from UC Health to schedule our vaccines in the next 48 hours. Lots like 1 of our waitlists are starting to give shots. I just thought it was interesting that it was the same day.

‘Anita,I’m burst our laughing at the magic mushrooms.

Lois, fabulous itinerary. Not many cruises go to Grand Turk or Grenadines. What cruiseline is it?  Melody

Lois, the cruise looks amazing! Have you been on Silver Seas before? We’ve talked about trying it, all of ours have been on Royal and Celebrity.  You definitely should book it, after the year you survived, you deserve it!

We got our 2nd shot of Pfizer on Friday, I’m disappointed as I did not experience any mushroom effect!😂😂. I did have a slight HA, chills and muscle aches Friday evening and some on Saturday but nothing big.  My arm was sore for a few days.  My husband experienced a little tenderness at the site and nothing else.  On the subject of vaccines but not political,  a certain grocery chain that is now being used to give vaccines in Florida is a big donator to the governor’s party.  I’m sure it is just a coincidence.🙄

I hope you all are keeping warm, even Florida is having a cold wave, the temp outside this morning was 46, no beach day today!  OOTD: jeans and a tshirt with long sleeves!

Sherri🙂

Hi Sherri,  Publix has been in the news ALOT lately about all of that....from what I have

seen it is only in certain counties right now. Hopefully it will be available to the

rest of us sooner rather than later.

Yes, I have sailed with Silversea multiple times....3 times overall and have 3 deposits down

on upcoming ones.  The ships are MUCH smaller than anything on Celebrity and Royal.  I sailed with Celebrity for many years (nearly 15) but once I went on

SS I never went back to mass market.   I LOVE the small ships!

Morning all.

I'm sitting here watching the snow dump yet again here.  It's going to be off and on for the next week (except for Sunday).  Ugh.  I've got about 3 inches of new snow from today sitting on my fence post so far.    A good day to just settle in and get cozy.  I do have to run to the pharmacy to pick up some refills, but I'm going to wait for the supposed  break in the snow later this afternoon.

Lucky ladies who already received vaccinations.   Sherri - I was trying to figure out a way to say what you said about that grocery chain.   And, I'm looking forward to my hallucinagenic experience!  I missed it with my malaria drug back before I went to Egypt.  Back in the day, I was always the "mother hen" who watched over my roommates/guys when they did 'shrooms, so I never got to indulge.

Did anyone watch the services in the Capitol rotunda for Officer Sicknick last night and this morning?  So emotional yet so moving.  I hope it gave some people who "work" there some pause for serious reflection on their "jobs" and their business to come.

Hi Kat, yes, I watched last night and this morning........it was so appropriate and fitting for him

to have this Memorial.  And yes, it was very moving as well.

Congrats to everyone who's been able to get their jabs, getting my first real one on Friday, very excited, except for the blood jaws & brain tickler, but it's worth it!   No shrooms for me, but I might take a tiny bit of xanax because they take your blood pressure right after they do the nose thing, & my normally perfect blood pressure goes through the roof after that.     Hope everyone who wants theirs can get them soon.  Sounds like the system is very, very slowly improving.

Lois, Silver Sea looks wonderful!  I'm branching out to MSC yacht club (hopefully it will go)  Silversea would be maybe for a special occasion for us though :)

Can't believe that we're slowly headed out of this, I know we have a long future of masks & probably more shots (I think we are going to do the study on the booster shots)   but for now what matters to me is that our grandson says his backpack is packed so he can sleep over as soon as I have all my shots for the 'bad germs' as he calls them, can't wait!

Melody - tell your cousin that the hair loss is extremely common post-COVID.  Taking Biotin and using an anti-thinning shampoo & conditioner will help a little.  Let her know that it does stop in time and starts to grow back.

I timed my trip to the pharmacy just right.  It stopped snowing long enough for me to drive into town and get back out - started snowing as I pulled into the driveway.

My new Tshirts arrived today.  One of the owners had received from this company for Christmas and I loved it.  I had to buy my own.  From "Arm the Animals" - I got Scout Snipurr (top) and Renegade Bunny (bottom).  Perfect for wearing during hunting season!!!

At the rate I'm going, my next cruise will be on one of those casino boats out of Port Canaveral.  I think I can afford an evening of that...

Kat, I want that bunny shirt!  So cute!  May I ask where you got it from?

Had the best dinner last night, my daughter sent over some beef barbacoa that she made in her instant pot, made tacos with it, & it was divine!  so nice to have something that someone else made.

Received an email from L.A. county regarding Mom's 2nd vaccine, sounds like they are trying to make 2nd appointments closer to where seniors live (she lives over the hills from me near the big Buddhist Temple)  her first appointment was in Pacoima, which was a pretty far drive, the email said her second appointment may be a bit closer, which would be nice!

have a great day everyone :)

& on topic, currently wearing PJ's & short robe ;)  Will put on shorts & tee & hiking boots in a bit & go hiking :)  Hair has reached truly unmanageable  state & is in a long side braid.  Made an appointment for Feb 22nd for a real, professional haircut & blowout :)  can't wait to be civilized again!

Arm the Animals.  The one I got is the women's vintage Tshirt, size XL  I think it's really like Men's sizing.  I usually get Women's XL (big shoulders & boobs) but it sure seems like a men's XL  The cat shirt is their women's oversize and I got it in L.   It fits like a men's L that I buy in normal life.  They had a shirt with a deer with 2 rifles as antlers - I really wanted that one, but not my size.  They have some Tshirts that are a tad offensive, but some that are just funny.

Good to know LA is trying to get it's vaccine program more in gear.  It is a bit stupid to have sites where Seniors and those of underserved communities would have issues getting to.   My county just admitted that they didn't check residency of teachers and first responders, only that they worked in the county, which has created a backlog of people who live and work in the county and are eligible.  They've promised that, going forward, they will only give to county residents.  Doesn't help me - I'm still on the March schedule for 65+ folks.

I was supposed to get my hair done again next Thursday, but my stylist's hubby has to have surgery around then.  We're playing it by ear for now.  I can always do like my 2 co-workers and put on a beanie!!

Bored day - just have on my "parts of the pig" Tshirt and my knee-length knit yoga pants.  I'm absolutely going nowhere today - more snow.
