Lois - I did not mean to diminish what you have gone through at all.  My apologies.  I"m just in a really down self-pity day today and it got the best of me.

Hi there Kat,  totally understand where you're at...  I think we all have our "almost at the breaking point" days....I know I seem to have one almost every Monday ;(

hope things are looking up for you :)

Hi Ladies,  just checking in :)   Kat, hope your eye is doing better... & hope you get your camping trip!   & everyone else if you can get a shingles vaccine, please do it, DH had shingles twice on the top of his head, not fun at all....

Cruisemom, good to hear from you, your work hours, yikes!   I'm still working from home, trying to catch up, but honestly, I am not at all as productive as I would be at the office...  for example...  I'm on here right now ;)

Lois & Melody:  so glad you are both on the road to recovery & health!  & so fun to hear about your dining out adventures....  we still haven't really gone much of anywhere, still more or less sheltering in place, but we did take our paddle board out on Sunday, & it was so wonderful!  Stopped at Gelsons market on the way home & bought fresh poke & ate it in the parking lot in the truck like animals...  first time having something "out" since March 6th, it was glorious :)

& also, Lois, scary to hear about the new outbreaks...  in Orange County here they are no longer requiring masks,  so I won't be going to any O.C. stores anytime in the near future...  there is some talk that they will start to require them again, but for now, I stick to L.A. county when I go to the market.

Sharon, the in & out burgers near us always have insane lines...  I feel like in & out is the taste of my childhood,  my dad would sometimes take me with him to work for a day & we'd drive through on the way home....  best milkshakes :)

& speaking of zucchini,   the squirrels have made their home in our zucchini patch, luckily we have plenty to spare :)

Hi girls,🙂 well, tonight was a "cold dinner".....I chopped up some of the chicken from what I baked yesterday

and made chicken salad with it. I had some cucumbers and then put a fresh orange, some blueberries and

strawberries on the plate.  Sometimes I really like this kind of dinner---a change up from "hot meals".

Cruise Kitty, that squirrel is cute😃

Kat, hope your eye is feeling better by the day.

fashion wise, I just got back from a good, long run & am wearing sweaty running shorts & a tank top... time to shower & veg out on some tv

Yeah - that antiviral I'm doing is  HUGE blue pill and the biggest dose they make for it (Valtrax), 1gr.  I mean, the pill is 7/8 in long!!!  The eye goes back and forth, it seems.  I may be trying to do too much with it.  I need to go back to sitting for awhile with my sleep mask on to keep light out as it is definitely sensitive to light.  It feels better in the evening after the sun goes down.

Melody - that mask looks like it's neoprene (just based on that center stitching).

Cruise Kitty - on the top of his head????  OMG.  I can only imagine how excruciating that was.  I know in the winter, we all walk around scratching our heads because it's so dry - I couldn't deal with not being able to scratch!!!!

Lois - definitely be careful going out!  Florida just posted the highest number of newly confirmed cases in the US.  They are trying to say it's just because of increased testing.  But, the testing/cases is actually counterintuitive:  Things are under control and going down when the more you test, the less positive cases you find.  The positive cases are always out there, so testing helps identify them.  Remember - someone said that testing is irrelevant - the less we test, the less COVID we'd have...(OFF SOAPBOX)

OOTD: it's cool again today (got down in the low 40s last night).  Lounging attire of yoga leggings and another long sleeve Tshirt is in order.  Bare feet, but I have my fleece throw on the sofa to dive under if they get too cold.

Have a nice day ladies!!!  And, dang, now I want to scratch my head!!!!!

Hi Kat, it is not just in Florida....18 states are having numbers increase.  We have such incompetent folks (that is

being kind) that won't listen to the SCIENTISTS and to the SCIENCE........I shake my head every day.

This virus is not going away....we are still in the first wave.  Too bad the idiots are pretending it is going away.

Kat,  I don't know how you're getting those pills down... I have trouble just with my calcium pills...

& yes, case numbers are scary,  for myself I'm sticking to outdoor places as much as possible as that seems to be safer,  we have a farmers market on Fridays, & I think tomorrow I'll do my shopping there.

Sending good thoughts for fast healing of your eye & future camping trip!

I totally agree Lois...  we can't just wish this away....  interesting read here, interview with an epidemiologist:

fashion wise, it's 1 here & I"m still in my pj's lol....  however, I'm going to put on my black cotton Amazon dress & go pick up an RX for Steve :)

Have a great day :)

Oh, I wore jeans today with a cute top of purples/blues and some silver bling that runs down the front. I took a good

friend out to lunch today---she helped me during my health issues and I wanted to do something nice for her. We had

a great lunch......I had a lovely salad of mixed greens/beets/almonds and fresh grilled shrimp🙂

She had a kale salad with fresh salmon.

Hi Girls-catching up on all the posts. Kat, I hope your eye is clearing up, those large pills seem like a pain to swallow but if they clear up the eye shingles I guess it’s worth it. Have you decided on any of the packet meals for your camping trip?

Melody, hope you are healing and feeling better. I bet you will really enjoy the more solid foods when allowed.

cruise kitty, today Newsom has ordered everyone to wear masks, with a few exceptions. Unfortunately he did not say how this will be enforced. It is a step in the right direction. OC was specifically mentioned in the LA Times article. BTW that little squirrel munching on your zucchini is rather cute.

Lois, yes it seems cases are going up everywhere. I keep hearing that FL could be the next epicenter. I just don’t understand how anyone can ignore the scientists who are trying to keep us safe. If everyone would just follow the guidelines we might have a chance of getting this under control. Now masks are required state wide here. Some cities and counties had relaxed the requirement but no more. I still expect to see those who won’t comply, unfortunately.

We still haven’t eaten out.  We do curbside but always transfer the food to our own plates and throw the containers away. Am I too paranoid?

Saturday is  DH’s birthday and I’m going to order dinner from one of our nicer, local restaurants. We are doing a family Zoom “party”. Then for Fathers Day on Sunday, i’m  packing a breakfast and a bottle of Peach Bellini and we will take it over to our daughter’s to enjoy in her shady yard. Wish it could be more of a celebratory weekend but it is the best we can do. Hopefully it will be different next year.

Today I’m wearing an older tee and ankle pants. Even put on a bit of make up! Oh and I made an appointment for a hair cut in 2 weeks. I will color my hair before I go and will also blow it dry after I return home. That should minimize the risk somewhat.

Stay safe everyone😊

Sharon

Sharon - I came up with an old Girl Scout standard: "hamchees".  Ham steaks with a pineapple slice on top and a piece of cheese on top of that.  But. then I remembered my BFF is Jewish 😮 so I'd have to change the ham to chicken paillards (it has to be thin to work) and add a little sauce to it. Eat as-is or out in a campfire-toasted bun. I also have an idea for a cold entree - California Roll Salad.  Faux crab (too cheap to get real), diced cuke, diced avocado, rice or ramen noodles, and a sriracha mayo sauce.  I could have that all prepped at home and take in containers.  I could even do the ramen noodles there - boil them, drain them and let them cool.   Last time we camped, I brought a Caprese Salad and it was gobbled up.  For dessert, I had them make themselves "banana boats" - split a banana almost in half, stuff with chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.  Wrap in foil, banana skin on, and let it turn into a gooey mess.  Add more decadence with caramel sauce.   I just did the banana and added a little peanut butter.

Kat, on my mask it’s a very lightweight polyester, very breathable.

boy I haven’t made a hamchee in years!  Gold Award Girl Scout here. Also haven’t camped in about 45 years!  Melody

Good morning all!

Lois - I could ask her if she eats pig, I guess.  I'm one of those who prefers to err on the side of caution.

Melody - I didn't think of polyester, but that makes sense now.  I do like it!

I loved Hamchee!!!!  My mom was a lifelong Girl Scout - she actually had her 50-year pin, given to her by the ED of GSA at the time.  Frances Hesselbein was actually from the same council as us.  Our council put a huge emphasis on camping.  My mom was also one of the council trainers for the 1965 roundup - I went to all the sessions with her.  If we hadn't moved that summer, she and I were going to be part of the Talus Rock group (I got permission to be a "special" Senior Scout, even thought I was 12).  I know all the goodies food-wise.  Ever make "pot of gold" soup? Tomato soup with little dough balls rolled around chunks of American Cheese.  Loved it!

Kat,  just ask if she eats pork........many folks who are Jewish eat it.  Unless she is Orthodox/keeps kosher.....or if she

just doesn't like it.   I love a good pork sandwich.......roast pork, pork loin, etc........😃

Well I'm back for my once a week break, lol. Still working long hours but this particular project that has had me so crazy wraps up July 1st.

Today I went in to the office for the first time since late February, just to get a few things I needed. No one else was there -- entire floor empty. It was a little eerie.  While up that way I also got a car wash. :classic_laugh:

I have no idea what I want for dinner.  I am so tired of the same basic options and no energy to try new ones right now. I am craving some big, delicious summer salads. I also love gazpacho -- we used to have a gourmet market nearby that had the best gazpacho, but they went bust a couple of years ago and now I just can't get the same version anywhere else.

My OOTD looked a lot like this but with black crochet-look espadrilles:

CM - I know how you feel about the same old, same old for food.  I'm also craving a big salad that someone else puts together for me.   I forgot that I had a container of pulled pork in the freezer (a pint size).  It's defrosting so I've got something a little different for dinner.  Cauliflower mash for the veggie.

Just saying hi on this Saturday.  We are having multiple food trucks tonight.  One of them has kabobs and salads to

go with them. Meat and veggies sound really good to me. And one of the trucks is called "THE HAPPY GRILLED CHEESE"😃

all different types of sandwiches with different cheeses and other items.........I know there will be a dessert truck too

but I will probably pass on that one.

This is the menu for the Grilled Cheese Truck........omg....some of these look DELICIOUS to me😃

Cute pants, but for me, they'd have to be longer.  I just don't like that length.  But, I like that outfit overall.

My carwash here just opened up.  Have to wait a little longer to go - the line was INSANE.

Last night, I had the pulled pork that I bought from Pig of the Month Club.  OMG!!!!!!  It was soooooooo good!  And, only 14 carbs!!!  It went well with my mashed cauliflower I had in the freezer (I buy the Birds Eye sour cream & chives one).   I'm not going to be sad to have the leftovers for dinner, let me tell you!  And, I'll be putting in an order to PotMC for more pork!!!

OOTD: my tropical crop leggings with my faded black Salty Dog Cafe Tshirt.  Not going anywhere, not doing anything.  Thank goodness I only have 2 more days of the antiviral!!!  Maybe I can get back into the swing of things.

Hi Kat, I am surprised the pork even had any carbs......14 is great but for some reason I would have thought it would

have been almost 0.

My outifit of the day has been a pair of bermuda length jean shorts with a v neck tye died top. Colors

of blues/lavenders/etc and a pair of sandals.

Cute pants. Probably looked better with your shoe choice; I don't think I'd make a line at the ankle with this strap wearing these pants.

I have been to my office twice since March to pick up a few things. I have to get permission, be escorted in, and leave in around 15-20 minutes. It is eerie.

Today's outfit: a Chico's Off The Rack tank top and some black shorts. What I wear just about every day, unfortunately. Although I did go to the mall yesterday and out to lunch with a pal, so I had cargo pants and actually wore eyeliner and mascara. No point in lipstick or powder with the mask! 😷

Good Afternoon ladies!  @cruisemom42  I get you on the food topic, we still haven't done take out, & I feel like we've put it off for so long that it's not even appealing.. what I really want is to sit down & be served something gooey, delicious & fattening that I did not cook ;)

Your office experience sounds like mine, rather surreal, right?   I haven't been back for at least 6 weeks I think, but when I went, it was creepy.

Lois, the food trucks sound like fun!   We have some here, but, well, we're doing baby steps :)    Going to have our younger daughter & SIL over tomorrow for Father's Day,  we might do our first take out from a local BBQ joint...  We'll socially distance on the patio, & we'll hang out on separate sides in the pool,  sounds crazy, I know, but baby steps...  it will be the first time we've had anyone over.

Kat, I bet you can't wait to get off the AV & feel a little more normal again,  at least whatever the new normal for you will be, right?

My OOTD:  baggy running shorts with a paint stain, & moisture wicking tank top,   long socks that go over my knees, & big sun hat ;) ....  going to work on the pumpkin patch which has gotten completely out of control!
