Not an ECG in the usual sense - an echocardiogram, which I know some of you will have had.  I  I had a 24 hour ECG a few months ago ,which did show up all sorts of things, mostly not important, but they were concerned about atrial fibrillation, which many of us have , and that is being treated with the usual medication.  The echo test is more complicated, a bit like a baby scan I believe and takes longer and needs more special equipment. (I know many of you already know this).  It  is all a bit confusing when you have been lucky enough not to have heart problems.

Yes echocardiogram, that’s the one I meant. Hope you can get it sooner.

An echo is much more involved LL. They look into the chambers of your heart and also the valves to ensure they are working properly. You are right in that it's like a baby scan - completely painless and actually very interesting if the technician is kind enough to point out what he/ she is looking at. Good luck when the time comes. Jane xx

Morning all, so much to catch up on so I’ll just say hope all are well.

My mum had a fall at her Home on Friday and had two cuts on her face, the home called an ambulance, phoned me and said she’d phone again when they’d been. We decided after not hearing anything to just go up there . She was fine in herself, bit fed up of the fuss! I’m really glad we were there because when the three(!) paramedics arrived they were quite happy to not take her to hospital whereas the nurse at the home seemed to want her taken in. It was now about 4.30pm on a Friday, we really didn’t think anything would have been gained by taking her in and having a long wait in A&E.

I said as her family we supported the decision to not take her in. She had too small dressings on her face, her BP was fine. She didn’t even have a headache! Anyway off the paramedics went and so did we a bit later.

Went to see her yesterday and she’s got a lovely black eye! Still laughing and joking with the carers. She’s a tough old bird!

John and I both have the day off today, fed up with this miserable dull weather so it looks like a day of chores and sorting out some of mum’s admin. Have a good day all.

I'm sorry to hear about your dear mam's fall and subsequent black eye Sue.

Sending her a hug.

Thank you Jane.

My late mam was  very kind to me and a lovely mam and mother in law to Pauline.

She bought me my first car in 1974.

It was a 1972 Ford Escort.

I hope you are fully recovered now after your fall.

Graham.

She sounds like a lovely lady Graham - and how lovely she was a nice MIL to Pauline. My first car was a Ford Escort too! Unfortunately I'm not yet fully recovered. GP says 6-12 weeks for the fractures to heal - I'll get there soon - it's only 3 weeks ago so early days. Thanks for the beautiful card Graham. Jane xx

When Frank was in hospital he had 3 over the course of 15 days. It was the same technician each time and he pointed out the slight improvements as his condition improved during his treatment. He was lovely and answered any questions I had. Frank bless him, wasn't interested at all, he just laid there and let him get on with it😁

Me ... I'm nosy😉

Yes, thanks Jane.  I did know what it involves, as I took my husband for one some years ago, and went in with him.  That is really the reason I hope to have it soon, as it shows up so much more than an ECG or any other simple tests.  I am going to ring the surgery to see if he will refer me to this other hospital with a view to having it done sooner.

Good news that we have the cabin we want for our cruise to Iceland in August 2026. Pre registering and booking direct with P&O has worked really well. 😊😊

Went to get my car valeted today after our Yorkshire trip, found the valeting place was closed due to lack of water, after all this rain you would have thought it would be the last thing to be short of.

Apparently builders of some nearby houses have gone through a marked water pipe with their digger, I suspect the builders will be getting a repair bill for the damage from the water company.

So still have dirty car, but did work out the mpg for our break in Yorkshire, returning a figure of 68.7mpg, more than happy with that.

Just home from a lovely meal out with my sisters and niece who doesn't usually get to come out with us because we usually go out for lunch when she is at school. The niece was mortified when her maths teacher came across to say hello.

Hi all,

Just had a very quick skim through some of the posts on here and sorry to read about all the falls/accidents that people have had and hope everyone involved is on the mend.

Been a busy week after getting back from Arvia last weekend. I don't seem to have stopped.

This weekend I ended up looking after my granddaughter and dog.

We had a good time, although with 1250 children on board it was busy.  The good weather was good the majority of the time too. The first couple of days were cool and breezy with the Bay of Biscay a bit choppy on the way out, but calm and foggy on the way back. The rest of the time it was warm and sunny.

Discovering that your maths teacher actually has a life and eats food must have

come as a bit of a surprise 😄😉

My maths teacher was lovely but I was crap at maths myself.

I wish I had a £1 for every exam I failed . I would have £9.60 by now 🙃

Have a good day everyone 🙂

8c and partly sunny here. I redid the washing up liquid method of moss killing on our patio yesterday on the forecast prospect of 2 days of dry weather but woke up to damp ground, so we must have had some light rain overnight😪. The same happened the last time I did it a few weeks ago, I drenched it more this time with the solution so I hope that it has worked. I also pencilled in today for cutting the grass so I hope that it dries off in the sun and breeze.

Morning everyone,

Hope you're all well or on the road to recovery.

10c and overcast down here, but dry. We've been spoilt the last few days with sunshine😲 and it feeling warm.

Our 48th wedding anniversary today so going out for a meal this evening, but not sure where.

Enjoy your day, whatever you have planned.

A lovely sunny morning but a cool 8° at the moment.

I have just dropped the children off at school but while I was waiting for them to be ready I noticed this book that the girl bought for dad last week, it really is funny 🤣20240424_081009.thumb.jpg.e7bbf20e3927fbbdda57f6a6e834ab37.jpg

I tried the Fairy liquid method on removing moss on a slabbed patio a few years ago, it killed the moss but left an orange stain on the slabs, which took some effort to remove. I now just use a long handled scraper, a brush and jet washer.

We are on Arvia from Sunday. The weather looks pretty dreadful. No bovvered. It will give us something to complain about when we get back.
