Rare aussielozzie18 Posted May 27, 2022 #58578 Share Posted May 27, 2022 We have had beautiful deer photos and one big black bear roaming the neighbourhood, posted this week. I will add my encounter a wild Wallaby.. It’s not tame. It’s wild and lives in the vicinity of my workplace and is rarely seen although we know of its existence. After a week of rain this week, we have beautiful sun, so I decided to walk to work. As I was walking across our grassed lunch area ,this morning, it popped up from behind one of the bushes, stopped and listened as I tried to chat then shaking its head at my inane greetings, hopped away. No photo but nice to have seen it. 🦘

It's really getting closer, and with yesterday's baking, today - visit to our single boy (details below) and the birthday celebration tomorrow, we'll get to the less than 2 weeks margin 😉 So, our single son is renting an 1 bedroom flat in a very old building in Tel-Aviv (circa 1950). DH helped painting, repairing and updating the characterless space as much as possible. Lately, the "kid" asked for a reading lamp, handmade of course by dad. This morning we travelled to Tel-Aviv and were very lucky to find a parking spot quite near the flat (being such an old neighborhood, all the buildings have no in site parking). Here's the reading lamp, freshly installed -- A corner picture and a piece of furniture made from their old childhood one.... Dani, your DH is so talented

We didn’t see him but these were shared in a neighborhood group text. Andy took the cover off the pool this morning. Yuck. It’s looking better this afternoon but still a long way to go. Lovely back garden and the pool will be amazing during summer. It is sunny and 56°F currently here in North East England. It takes me 3 cups in the morning to get going. First cup to get the heart beating, second to get the brain going & number 3 is to get the body in motion. By that time, it is almost lunch. 😆 EDIT TO ADD: the posts I was replying to were from 10 pages ago. Perhaps I need to drink more coffee to keep up. Lol. I'll have to join you from my bed if it's going to be USA cocktail time 😁 2

Love the hardscape brick work around the pool. Was that all there when you bought the house or did you have that put in? During the summer rain storms do you get alot of the trees blowing in the pool?, hopefully wind always blows away from the pool for cleaning issues. Shock that pool and you will be in , in no time. 🙂

Many thanks. They taste amazing too. 🙂 They all get a quick coating of extra virgin olive oil. Lisa and Owen get salt and pepper on both sides. Mine get Keg Spice (Steak House up here in Canada) and salt both sides. Cooking time; 1.5 minutes then a half turn for another 1.5. Then flip and follow the same procedure with a temp check during the final 1.5 minutes. 9 hours ago, Sea Dog said: Medium rare? Medium rare, only way in this house. Do you have a food saver? I use mine all the time. I definitely see a difference when freezing meats. I don’t have one, but might look into it. What are the differences you’ve noticed? We have a second fridge/freezer in our lower level. Even though there’s only the two of us here, the freezer comes in handy for large items like turkeys and when I stock up on sale items. The fridge is essentially a beer fridge during pool season.

We do get a ton of those brown stringy things in the spring which is why the cover just came off. It was heavily shocked yesterday, then a bunch of other stuff added, I think stabilizer is one, and finally the salt once it’s clear.

Arzeena Posted May 27, 2022 #58592 Share Posted May 27, 2022 Thanks to all the Debs/Debbies I am going to look into that food saver for meats. We are also just two with two refrigerators, and I do not stock pile but this could be a good idea with sales.

Arzeena Posted May 27, 2022 #58594 Share Posted May 27, 2022 We cannot install a pool but my "major" garden project will be installing a small maintenance free solar bird bath.😄That is as far as my gardening skills will go. 5

The fridge is essentially a beer fridge during pool season. With the food saver you can store meats, fish, etc for up to 1 or 2 years instead of 3 to 6 months. Food taste fresher, no freezer burn. I use for produce too. I.e. if I buy celery and just need a couple stalks I will put the rest of the stalks in a vacuum sealed bag and stays fresh for a couple of weeks. When my peach tree is ready for picking I end up with soo many peaches so I slice them and store in sealed bags. In the fall when I make a big pot of spaghetti sauce from my garden tomatoes I store sauces in vacuum sealed bags in the freezer then just grab a bag when needed. It came in really handy during the beginning of covid I stocked up on various meats and put in vacuumed sealed bags and was well prepared when food stores had hardly meats on their shelves. We definitely can taste the difference if we just put a pack of meat into freezer vs one that has been vacuumed sealed. Once you have one you will find yourself using a lot more than you thought you would. 3
Rare aussielozzie18 Posted May 27, 2022 #58597 Share Posted May 27, 2022 Ken Done is a well known Aussie painter. His designs were huge in the 80s. We had a doona cover with one of his colourful designs on it for years. His installation is projected on the facade of Customs House at Circular Quay during the festival.
