Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Didn't say people weren't doing it, here in the US they said at one time get any brand of shots if that is all you can find.

That’s what happened to many Canadians as of our supply issue. People scrambled to get what they could.

We never had any kind of reactions from any of the shots, not even a sore arm where injection was. Maybe it was or maybe it wasn't because we stuck with the same brand vaccines. No one knows for sure why people have different reactions to the shots.

If differs for everyone for sure. Lisa and I have only had Pfizer.  In fact we just got our second boosters. With each shot we have had some tenderness over the first few days at the injection location. The first 12-24 hours we have had enough discomfort that we did not sleep on side of the needle. For the last two, Lisa’s lymph nodes on her collar bone shot side has been swollen. On this last shot for me, the nodes in my armpit are swollen from the shot.

Another scorcher here today. We have a joint birthday party for my SIL and MIL. Table is set and the house is ready. Dinner tonight burgers, salads, and ice cream cakes for the masses.

Lucy was inspecting my flower watering this morning.

She has assumed her position until the kids arrive.

I've missed a few dozen pages so hope everyone is well and enjoying the Summer.

We've started regular child care for our first grandson now they have moved closer to us and my sons partner has gone back to work part time.

My other DIL is in her final few weeks of pregnancy and it's hard going in this hot summer we are having. Her mum lives abroad and is arriving tomorrow to stay for a month.  It is their first anniversary of their wedding, seems like a wonderful dream now. They are celebrating by staying in The Shangri-la in the Shard in London , a last Hurrah before baby comes

Busy day today with emotions. This morning we said goodbye to the mother of one of my life long friends Ron. This afternoon we will attend the wedding of one of my coworkers for 40 years son who I’ve seen grow up.

Greg,

Sorry for the loss of your friends mother.

Congratulations to your coworkers son.

Definitely a day of mixed emotions.

Thanks Joe, Yes it was a weird day for sure. I cried at both. I think that's a first for me a funeral and wedding all in one day. Today I'm really tired but that may because of the really good rum punch cocktails they had last night at the reception.

Malibu Sunrise.

Malibu Rum with Cream of Coconut

Captain Morgan Dark Spiced Rum

Orange Juice

Grenidine

Cherry garnish

Very tasty.

Pineapple Juice

Enjoy your Baltic trip on Voyager!  Hoping someone will do an update on testing in Copenhagen and the ship in general. Was last on Voyager in 2002.

I'll let you know. Plan A is to see if they still have the free testing at the Airport and if so we will test there when we land.  Plan B is a proctored test that we have scheduled for 8pm (only $20 for the 2 of us so not concerned if we lose $20 if we can get tested earlier.  If both those fail there is a clinic about a 10 minute walk from our hotel that is open 24/7 for $20pp.

Ingredients look really good. I can see where you wouldn't want to stop having them. Hence, the tiredness.😂

Yes they went down real good. Not hungover at all today but just tired. I did a lot of driving as the wedding was an hour away.

Also since the puppies were in their crate the whole time they had a lot of energy when we got home. Went to bed around 10:30pm but Lizzy woke us up at 2am wanting out to do her business. Had a hard time going back to sleep.

Good thing John's on the trip, I'm horrible for taking pictures.  I will try to post though.

Check out the weird dream I had on Johns thread. You were in it too.

I had 3 ears and did 10 minutes at 390.  Rubbed them with butter and sprinkled salt and pepper before cooking.  I could have gotten 1 more ear in, but that’s the limit.  Three is just right for the 2 of us.

I definitely am going to ask for a larger air fryer for Christmas. I can only fit one ear in.

Really?  First thing you are going to notice the weather is hotter when doing the Southern Caribbean because it's closer to the equator. Probably be a eye opener for you coming from Canada.

We’re sailing on the 20th to Aruba and Curaçao. Here at home I go from AC to AC, so the heat doesn’t bother me.
My favorite part of cruising is called Balcony. I don’t know how much of it I’ll be comfortable with this cruise.
Why did I pick August!!!

Thanks, Dave, and Jim ( @Jimbo) for asking.

As of yesterday afternoon, we're under missile attack alert. The radius of the alert is 80 km (from Gaza strip). We're in the 75 km zone, so quite far, but not far enough.....

We're invited to a very dear friend's birthday this evening, they live southern than us (40 km from Gaza strip), but we decided to go.

We're taking with us a big blanket, in case we'll need to stop the car and lay flat on the road...

Having to worry while going about your daily life is so awful I can’t comprehend it.
It’s true in too much of the world.
Please keep safe. We all care.

Yes, In August temps will be high 80's, low 90's but that isn't the worse part. Humidity will be 75% or higher most days.

Didn't think they recommended mixing the different kinds of vaccines.

I have known several people that have mixed pfizer and moderna.  At one point I recall reading mixing might be better for you.  Personally, we have boosted with same as our original doses, Pfizer.

Felt a lot of ship movement middle of the night as we hit open waters in Alaska but getting more smooth as the morning goes on. We are 1 hour behind Pacific standard time or 4 hours behind East Coast.

In case anyone is interested in following along with us, go to www.cruisemapper.com and type in majestic princess and then click on "position" and you can track us via live GPS.

Today is day 2. We are scheduled to see Hubbard Glacier at 3 PM Alaska time. Heading for breakfast soon. No need to rush as it's a sea day.

Getting 2 mbps upload and 4 mbps download this morning. Not as good as southern part of the globe but just enough for texts and email.

Hi, Patti,

Still enjoying the retirement life?

Yeah, in laws with us on this sailing as we got 3 cabins together.  Princess willing to sell me 3 cabins with 2 of them being connecting. Royal wouldn't assign me to a triple room with 2 people in each room but princess was ok 4 of us in 2 triples that were meant for up to 6.

See our dinner pic at MDR tonight as well as what I had for dinner.

I love Princess dining. Our last cruise before COVID was a 27 day and the menu never repeated.
Having your balconies open sure makes a cruise extra special!
