The issue with shrimp, as with most shellfish, is cholesterol. Three ounces of shrimp contains around 160 mg of cholesterol. The recommendations are to keep daily cholesterol intake from all of your food sources to under 300 mg. 4

Rare Sea Dog Posted September 9, 2022 #70506 Share Posted September 9, 2022 39 minutes ago, h20skibum said: The second “and then……” from our somewhat normal day. I had just fallen asleep, when Susan woke me up. She said our daughter just called, and said she tested positive for Covid. She wanted us to test right away to see if we had it. Now, I don’t function the best when awakening from a deep sleep, but I managed to find a couple of our tests, and tested both of us. We were both negative. So our daughter wanted to go to the ER to have everything checked, probably because of everything else she has been going through. 10:30 at night is not the best time to visit the ER, although I don’t know if there is ever a good time. The one person they were just getting around to seeing, said they had been waiting 7 hours. So she called some other hospitals to ask them what their wait times were. “Oh, we aren’t allowed to tell anyone that!” They checked her all out, wrote her a script, and at 3 am, we got to see the heard of deer that visits our yard. So much for our dreams of a good night sleep. The good thing, is that her symptoms are mild, but the bad thing is her next treatment is now delayed until the 26th because of Covid. So where did she get it? Probably from a teacher who dropped off something our grandson had forgot at school. About two days after she dropped it off, she called our daughter to let her know she just tested positive. and then…… Like I said when it rains it pours. I'm glad her symptoms are mild. Hang in there my friend. 29 minutes ago, Ocean Boy said: The issue with shrimp, as with most shellfish, is cholesterol. Three ounces of shrimp contains around 160 mg of cholesterol. I've never met a shrimp cocktail I didn't like. 😉

And to make things worse, shellfish (and fish in general) often contains enough mercury that it's recommended to eat no more than 12 ounces of shellfish a week to avoid mercury build-up in your system. I love all forms of shellfish (will probably have mussels tonight for dinner), and really love tuna, but I try to limit my intake of both. 4

Rare aussielozzie18 Posted September 9, 2022 #70511 Share Posted September 9, 2022 Got a text msg on Thursday from the specialist confirming my appointment for next week. As it’s booked a year ahead, I had understandably completely forgotten about it. Did not want to have to reschedule so it sent me into a minor panic. Very lucky that the GP could see me that afternoon to get a referral, the private hospital could give me a next day appointment for the scans and my very understanding boss permitted me to have time off at very short notice. So off to hospital yesterday. Took photo of car in multi-story carpark so I could find it later, watched a lovely video of somewhere in Europe during a short wait, had wonderful staff attend me during the various scans and finished off with a superb lunch of a salmon bruschetta with a large coffee in the very nice onsite cafe. In the afternoon, we drove over to dads, sat in the sun and chatted on dad’s deck then wandered up to dad’s veggie patch and DD collected some delicious snow peas. Now, it’s early Saturday morning here. Overcast but sun is expected to come out. DH has left already for his 40km Walk Bondi to Kirribilli. I have plans to do a bushwalk hoping to see more Spring Wildflowers. Hope you all have a lovely evening and day tomorrow. 10

Rare h20skibum Posted September 9, 2022 #70513 Share Posted September 9, 2022 The third “and then…..” is not specifically one from yesterday, but just one more thing my daughter’s family has been dealing with. I know there are many pet lovers on here. Their “Lucy” has been with them for 16 years, and now shows signs she is reaching the end of her life. Lucy I am afraid the grandkids will soon be dealing with the loss of the only pet they have ever known. It is hard to tell how they have been processing all the changes they see taking place right now.

We were planning to go up to London this weekend to visit friends and my friend has said she wants to lay flowers at Buckingham Palace, so we will be going there tomorrow. I feel almost that for our boomer generation that have lost our mums, almost like I'm reliving a second maternal death. She was so much the Mother of our country My mom has felt the same these last few days. The Queen was very much like my mom’s mother; from looks to mannerisms. Just no jewels and titles. I also feel like I lost a grandmother. 10

Also our favorite football team Buffalo Bills had a great win against the defending super bowl winner . But super down my mom is in the hospital for last few days and sick to return to her apartment since she will need around the clock care , she is 96 and had no pain before recent problems, I doubt she will be around much longer , luckily my sister and her family are there . She will be extremely unhappy with nursing home or hospice which she will need . Happy to hear nothing has changed with your brain tumor. Sorry to hear about your Mom. Hopefully she is not in any pain now. 🙏

Me: I'm sorry, I don't HM: Can you drive me to Burger King? Me: No, but you are more than welcome to take something out of my bags HM: I WANT BURGER KING! Me: Sorry HM: F*** you, as he walks away. Many years ago, when I was late teens or early 20's I was on the Atlantic City boardwalk early evening and had my first run in with a homeless person. He kept following us and demanding money to the point I was getting scared. I had been told my parents prior to this experience to never give Money to a homeless person as it will just feed their drug habit. So I asked him if he wanted a slice of pizza or just then I saw McDonald's or Burger King was just down the block. He was so thrilled I offered so we all walked into whichever place it was and I bought him a bunch of items (as much as I could afford at that age). He kept blessing me and I felt sorry for him and was happy that I helped. I try to help someone when I can but if they are rude and obnoxious then forget it.
