Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" ​ 😁 ​day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Had a maybe last outing of the season on the River yesterday. 

It was between 13 and 16c but sunny and not too windy. Moored up again in Windsor and crossed the bridge to Eton for a late pub lunch. Hubby had fish n chips and I had a fishcake starter and helped out hubby with his chips 😉

First rain of the season is looming at sunrise, just on the eve of a holiday spent traditionally outside [in short -- Sukkōt is the plural of sukkah, "booth" or "tabernacle", which is a walled structure covered with s'chach (plant material, such as overgrowth or palm leaves). It is 34°F this morning with a feels like 29°.  We get the grandkids this afternoon, for an overnight stay.   It looks like cookies will be made and decorated.

 

We have a hotel room reserved for the night, so they can enjoy some pool and hot tub time.  Indoors, of course.  We already had a change in plans, because we were both supposed to watch them tomorrow (no school for Columbus Day), while SIL took our daughter to her chemotherapy, but now I will be taking her and Susan will be entertaining the kids on her own.

 

Off to look for some more LIVE threads, since some have been winding down.

I'm on Explorer right now.  This week was the first week that masks have been completely optional for crew on this ship.  

Most of the crew is maskless (at least the crew that are visible to guests, no clue about below decks).  Bartenders, bar servers, and dining room crew, I'd say probably 98% aren't masked.  Casino workers seem to be about 75% unmasked, and spa workers that I've seen out on the pool deck giving massages have all been masked (but they work for a contractor, not for Royal directly, from what I understand -- not sure if that makes a difference). 

Our sailing was the first week on Mariner that crew could go maskless.
 

We maybe saw a few more crew masked than your experience. On Thursday morning we saw more wearing them.  Late Thursday the Captain made an announcement that a percentage of crew have tested positive and that masks would be mandatory for them for a period of time. They reported 1 guest had tested positive. 
 

The crew on Thursday night and Friday were in KN95 masks.

Good morning and Happy Sunday on this beautiful sunny frigid cold morning.

 

Now, let me update you on my current crisis.

 

It is no secret that I am techno illiterate and every so often things just happen that I have no explanation for (aliens) and then when I try to solve it only gets worse.

 

So my latest adventure is:

 

THE IPHONE FROM HELL.

 

To begin with I think I have an IPHONE 10 or 11.

Cannot remember but it is newer, DH got it for me and set it up and it worked fine for first 2 years no problems.  I use it for texting and calls as well as taking pictures and posting to CC. The DH says I should be using it more, and get with modern times with all the functions it provides.  But I still keep a daily planner on the desk and use index cards taped to refrigerator so I do not forget to do things as well as hand write shopping lists.

 

Lately it does what it wants to do, and sometimes does not do what it should do.

 

If I am home and it is  good day for WIFI and I get a text, it rings on my IPAD and not on my phone which is turned on loud setting. (The IPAD is off, usually low battery, because I forgot to charge it).

If I get a message my phone  does not alert me.

And I currently get updates from the weather channel and I do not have the APP on my phone or IPAD.

Then when I am driving and have Blue tooth, I can hit a button on my steering wheel and make calls or send texts.  

But now my car hates me too, it says function disabled. So DH goes in car, nothing wrong, how could it be, there is nothing to check..............then he looks at the phone and the thingie is on, but something on next page is off...................Like I would know to go in there!!!

Oh and the best is when I am charging it on the desk and I am in the next room, no where near it it calls random numbers......Try explaining that one to people on the other end.

 

Then on  this past Friday

So, as the leaves turn golden and the DH walks in the door from work and I have the look on my face, he just goes "what now, what did you break...............where's the spider..............is it your phone..."

I go ' DING DING DING, we have a winner, its the phone..."

 

So once again he mumbles, takes the phone goes into settings.

Yup I did not screw that up, it is the way he set it up.

Then he shuts it down and re-boots it..........................and problem solved.

 

So now on this glorious Sunday at 6am. before the DH awake and I am getting the  slow cooker ready to do its thing and cook a roast all day the phone 'TINGS'

Yup, a new one today.

Only one problem

Yup I do not have the app

If this continues I am sure I will have a new IPHONE  14 by Thanksgiving, when he is as frustrated with me as I am frustrated with phone.

 

 

So lets do a new project today and see what trouble we can get into.

Today we are building the elevated garden boxes, which were supposed to be done in September  and did not happen.

I stocked up on band aids, peroxide neosporin so I am prepared for war injuries.

It was a very good night for the Phillies. Their pitching really kept their Number 2, 3 and 4 hitters off stride. They were just 3 for 23. That was the difference.

 

Now on to the Braves, Phillies have to take 1 of the first 2 in Atlanta I believe to have a chance. Much rather play the Braves then the Mets. Season series was close with the Braves, very one sided with the Mets.

You will enjoy the garden beds when done.  We did elevated boxes and my back appreciates it at weeding and harvest time.  It is also easier for us to flood the beds when they get dry.

Was quite a surprise The Blue Jays couldn't even win one game in their home park, just goes to say in these short series it's not who has the most talent that always wins. It's who is the hottest at that time.

 

Seattle had a great finish to the season  to even get into the playoffs, So they are just riding that high.

Well that was traumatic. Kylar the cat went missing last night and we could not find him this morning. We knew he was still in the house but somehow the door to the garage was left ajar. We looked out there last night but could not find him.

 

Then this morning we looked all over the house and then went back into the garage. We heard a faint meow. Now grant you my garage is a total disaster but we eventually found him under our large rack shelving that houses all my Christmas stuff. Of course he was scared and would not come out.

 

Finally he did but then ran to another part of garage where we lost him again. Eventually we found him under an old chair. It took over 4 hours to coax him back into the house. What a pain in the you know what that was. Our fault for not properly closing the door out to garage but he is now safe inside the house.

That was traumatic.  So glad you found him and he is safe back inside.

I predict a Braves win.One of my nephews married a woman from the Philly area.She and her family are huge Phillies and Eagles fans.My nephew is a huge Mets and Rangers fan.It makes for very interesting discussions at times.

I always tended to root for Toronto .When Springer joined the team I no longer wanted them to win.
