I have both swollen ankles which is normal for me after cruise, but also swollen feet which are painful and never happened before , have doctor appointment tomorrow.

I will be very interested in what he thinks is going on. The top part of my feet are still painful.

We are headed to Port Canaveral today.  Internet was horrible yesterday.  Lots of clouds and windy yesterday.  Now it is Beautiful warm sunny day.

Chris and Donna are thinking about heading over to Kennedy space ctr today.   Eric and I will stay onboard or maybe walk over to one of the restaurants at the marina and grab some sharlk bites and oysters.

We went to the game Majority rules last night...lots of fun.

Then to the casino.  So far they are ahead for me but Eric is doing good.  He was up $625 Sunday night and another $400 last night.

Better thank you for asking. Swelling in my ankles and feet have gone back to normal. My itching is almost all gone. I still don’t know what caused it. Knees feel better. I think all that walking as you know how big a cruise ship is contributed to the soreness.

How about alcohol consumption? 🤣

I need some suggestions.   Does anyone use a lightweight Transport Wheelchair to fly and cruise?  Is it a challenge to board an airline with?  Any problems using them with a Lyft service?  Any suggestions on which to buy or not tobuy?
Also my PT suggested to get a cane that has a small tri base.  Any suggestions?

You might want to ask these questions on the CC Disability thread .I have found many helpful suggestions there.

We didn’t know about Featherdale, or I would have been there.
Your birds are a feast for the eyes!

I was fascinated by Australia’s animals, but plumb gobsmacked by the birds!

I’ve been ill with pneumonia and off the internet. Trying to catch up a little today.

Take care of yourself.  Charlie is still feeling out of sorts since he had it.

Im sure that didn’t help. Body rebels after only drinking about 4 cocktails a week to about 5-8 per day.

Your body was out of it's routine. I'm sure it had something to do with the alcohol. None of us are getting any younger either.

Good luck with your new kitchen.  If I were still a homeowner and redoing my kitchen, I would only have slide out drawers, even deep ones for large pots and pans, plus large double width drawers for cutlery.  I would also have a faucet installed over the stove.

When we sold our houses, both in NY and TX, I was amazed at what I found in back of the lower cabinets; stuff I forgot I had and hardly used because the items weren't visible.

I fully agree about the slide out drawers.  We have them in a couple of cabinets meant for pots and pans but plan to add them to all lower/base cabinets with doors.  So much easier and frees up the "hidden" space in the back of the cabinet.

We have a pot filler over our stove but rarely use it.  It dispenses cold water.  Not sure if it's plumbed as cold water or if it's plumbed as hot water but if it's plumbed hot, the pot is full and we turn it off before the hot water starts coming out.  Unless we want to leave a big pot of water on the stove for a while before it boils, we're better off (i.e. it's faster) filling the pot with hot water from the sink.  Maybe we'll use it more as we get older and heavy pots of water become harder to manage.

Solution is easy , you don’t drink enough while home . While I drink way more than most daily , I rarely will drink before 6pm last week we would have a couple of Bloody Mary’s in suite lounge after breakfast, maybe a beer or two for lunch , need a large scotch or gin and tonic before 6pm show , bottle of wine with dinner and need a cognac after . My age and weight doesn’t help , but I have done this on most of my cruises in last decade or so . Will definitely return to gym as soon as foot gets better.

I would suggest going to a medical device store near you and try some out.  You can get them at Walmart and Amazon too but if it is something you are going to need a lot, it is better to have one that is comfortable and fits you well.  You likely can get one prescribed for you by your physician so insurance would cover it.  One of the big issues with transport chairs is going over curbs and thresholds.  The little wheels don't always handle bumps very well.

My Dad had ALS as well as Parkinsons.  He did not do very well at all in a transport chair because he couldn't balance himself very well in the chair.  I almost lost him once going over a bump as he wasn't able to brace himself well.  We transitioned to a wheelchair after that.

You will be able to gate check the transport chair for the plane and it does not count against you baggage quote and does not incur a fee.

Thanks so much .  Very helpful.   As of now I can still get around but by the afternoon it gets to be a challenge.   I would not be able to walk a long distance without some help.  I didn't think of checking them out at a medical device store.  My DD, who is an OT and has been able to get medical stuff setup, is going to see if she can get a chair prescribed.   She already got two doctors send me the paperwork to get handicapped parking.  She's good.

Made follow up call #2 to C&A his afternoon to see if there were any updates on the crystal block we should have received on EX in January.  It is still “in progress” and will ship as soon they have back in stock.  I won’t hold my breath.

Don't lose hope. I was supposed to get a block on Adventure, just before the shutdown, but they ran out. Sure enough 4-5 months later it showed up at my home. I did email C&A about it once to follow up just in case the LA on the ship screwed something up.

I never really understood the need for a pot filler over the stove.  I find it easier to carry a pot of hot tap water from the sink to the stove than to carry a pot of boiling water back from the stove to the sink.  I'd find a pot emptier more useful, but I don't think anyone's invented that yet.

I wonder if they are behind on them due to so many that built up points when they were offering double points during the restart.

Speaking only for myself, any bloating, swelling, etc caused by alcohol is usually very temporary.  I tend to over-indulge a bit while on vacation whether it be a cruise, Jersey Shore, camping, whatever. Most of the swelling and bloating will be gone within a day or three once I'm home.

Also, I can hang with the best of them (the drinkers) on the Bella cruise & then not touch a drop of alcohol for weeks after I return. That might have something to do with it as well. Again, just my experience, I certainly don't recommend anyone follow in my footsteps. 😇

But I do agree with you about not getting younger. Recovery does seem to take longer such as trying to shed the weight gain on such vacations.

EDIT TO ADD:  Most people don't realize just how much more walking they do on a cruise. If it's a lot more than usual, that will certainly add to the achy joints.
