HBE4 Posted July 24 #126351 Share Posted July 24 I've never purchased the Wi-Fi package but may do so for my upcoming trip for various reasons. 1) Is $20.99 a good price? It's "on-sale" (haha) @ 25% off. 2) Will I be able to access NetFlix and my DVR recordings (Comcast Xfinity) from my laptop? I know while in the USA I can but I seem to remember people having difficulties when out of the country. Not sure if that is still a "thing". Normally I don't watch TV or movies while on vacation. Even the cabin TV is hardly on except to watch the cruise director's show. But this trip may be different so I'm trying to be prepared.

So we took a trip to the Zaanse Schans, which is a unique part of the Netherlands. @FromSea2ShiningSea Thank you, Helen, for the tip. Hopefully, we'll be in Netherlands for the High Holidays, and I was just looking for short day trips when the grands are at school... @taznremmy Pat, enjoy your cruise. Pity we'll not be in Amsterdam at the same time 🌺

We've never purchased it, though it seems to be more and more necessary. If we are in Europe our phone plane allows for most countries when ashore. The best pre cruise price for this current cruise was £14 per device, per day. Gary did succumb and buy a 24 hour pass on a sea day but at on board prices Edited July 24 by sgmn 1
sgmn Posted July 24 #126360 Share Posted July 24 In Honfleur today. We've been before and love the town. Very quaint timbered houses around a small port lined with restaurants. Lots of shops selling Normandy products. I forgot we had our last specialised restaurant booked tonight and we had lunch out, and now I really don't feel hungry 😫 Last day tomorrow, also in Le Havre 27

We don't stream but the last 2 cruises the internet seemed fast enough. My husband and I used the wifi calling and it worked well.

Normally I'm a "disconnect from the world" type person but the friends that invited me are actually part of a much larger - almost Bella2.0 size - group and they are using a certain group text messaging app that requires wifi. So that's the main reason, to stay in the loop & coordinate gatherings. The streaming movies would just be a side benefit. The 3rd benefit would be keeping in touch with family at home & in case of emergency. One of the most heart-warming things that was said to me recently was my step-daughter sorrowfully saying "I can't believe I have to go 9 whole days without seeing or talking to you".💖

We always needed to buy in the past since wife gets business calls and needs computer has spent way too much time on calls on a couple vacations, but will retire in less than two years. Like with kittens is very interesting when I woke up I noticed the place mats , napkin holder , napkins etc on dining room table was all on the floor .

Perhaps @Biker19 is up on whether that is the case. We usually just supplement our free D+ days with extra days we purchase onboard. My wife doesn’t want to be out of touch with our kids at all while we are away. This close to sailing, it is doubtful the price will go down. 4

I don't know anything about it but since I'm basically a Johnny-Come-Lately to this trip, I'll just follow along. As a last time Emerald, I would get 15% off whatever the imaginary on-board price is. So you're right, this will probably be the lowest price I see. I actually already pulled the trigger on it. $167 for 8 days of internet. I've spent way more on food & drinks at a 3 hour NY Ranger game. That's pretty much how I rationalize all my purchases. 😄 8

As far as accessing your DVR from the ship, we have been able to view recorded shows on our DVR while on the ship and also use the FOIS app to watch live Bruins and Celtics games that weren't available on the ship. Not sure about XFinity but worked for us with FOIS.

Rare h20skibum Posted July 24 #126373 Share Posted July 24 After spending some time with Ricky, my California grandson is trying to convince his mom and dad to get a kitten. (A hard sell for those highly allergic) I told him maybe one of these we saw at a restaurant yesterday would work. 1
BonTexasNY Posted July 24 #126374 Share Posted July 24 On Monday night, we felt tremors from an earthquake, epicenter 200 miles from Ft. Worth which is about 40 miles from us. Jack was already in bed, I was on my couch and felt my body "shiver". My neighbor said she saw water in her glass shake. It only lasted seconds. Scary! Any other North Texans feel the effects? Not sure this link will work. West Texas earthquake felt in North Texas
Rare Sea Dog Posted July 24 #126375 Share Posted July 24 Take care of your skin folks it’s hot out there. Had some Squamous cell skin cancer removed. All in all fairly painless with dissolving stitches. Need to be careful with wound care for the next 48. In the fall getting some chemotherapy cream for the top of my head. Should be all healed up by Bella 2. Needless to say when you see me on a cruise I will be wearing a hat most of the time outside.
