I love looking out, so I always have a window seat. I like total control over the little window slider! 😁

I hate it when people close the shade as I, too, like to see out. I tend to take aisle seats or I feel trapped and I don't like that feeling so I don't have control of the shade.

My first thought was they are watching to make sure people only get the proper number of allotted drinks.

Of course it may also make it a bit more obvious there has not been a tip added.  I would get a lot of people don't tip on thise "free" drinks.

If people don't tip, especially on their "free" drinks, shame on them!

Jim has to sit on the aisle to make it more comfortable for his right knee.

I will still give my usual cash tip instead of writing on the slip.

Me too but I keep hearing of those that don't tip at all.

It will make more work for the servers, as someone tells them they wanted to pay for that lower price drink, and save the voucher for a more expensive one later.   Of course, everyone should be telling them upfront, if they want to use the voucher.

Me too.

Agreed, more work all around.  I had the refreshment package earlier this year and just told them how I wanted to pay for each drink as I ordered up until 1 night I ran out of vouchers, had been at the same bar for a while, and not the 1st night either so bartender kind of knew of.   Drink was handed to me without a slip, I tipped in cash.  Never had anything extra show on our bill.  Fully expected to pay for that drink.  I am thinking this happens a bit, wouldn't surprise me if Royal is aware and trying to stop that.  Bartenders make out as they get more tips, see why they do it.

My DH is a one finger typist.  Watching him type work emails is excruciating.

Back in the day, I did a typing course so at least I type properly on the work keyboard.

In high school, I had to be dragged kicking and screaming into a Typing class.

To this day, it's the class I've used more in my adult life than any other I've taken, including college and law school.

When I was in college I wrote for both the Literary magazine and one of the newspapers .I loved to type.

Agreed. I've seen the most dexterous thumbs imaginable going at it (both hands) successfully composing words faster than I can do it on a regular-sized keyboard with all ten digits. Astounding, really. Worst thing about texting on a phone is the auto-fill (e.g. wrong words that get put in there). Unless proof-reading, I would have sent the most ridiculous (but sometimes also humorous) texts already.

I type very fast on my laptop without looking at the keys.  I struggle on my phone with texts.  My daughter's thumbs fly on her phone when she texts.

I just returned from having a consultation with a doctor who does Nerve Restoration Therapy for Neuropathy. It is not covered by health insurance and there is no guarantee that it would help me.He said that if it worked I could possibly have a 30 to 40 percent relief of pain in my legs .I asked how long it would last and he had no idea. The cost is $3500 for 24 treatments. It involves sitting for 20 minutes wearing something wrapped around my foot.I told him I would think about it and he said that the price he quoted was only for today.I felt as though I was in something other than a doctors office.😀

The doctor sounds like a car salesman.  Once, one gave me us a quote and I said "we'll probably come back".  He said the quote won't be available if we leave.  I said, neither will we and left.

I felt as though I was at a used car dealer.Neither he ,his nurse or anyone working in his office wore masks.Toby and I were the only mask wearers.

The doctor somehow cut  one of my feet causing it to bleed. He used a paper towel that was covering a chair .I was not aware that my foot had bled until Toby told me when we were in the car .

I can't sit on the aisle. When I fall asleep, my foot (either one) tends to wander into the aisle. And I would probably trip people. We were flying back from NOLA, and I had an aisle. I would doze off, and then repeatedly awoken with a very kind "Excuse me" from people trying to get past. ☺️

I'm fortunate, Bill lets me take the window, and he takes the middle seat.

I do the same. Cash is king and the bartenders will remember you and take good care of you if you do.

Wife always gets the window and I get the aisle, I have to tell her to raise window shade sometimes, one of our friends said you have to try first class and after we did once we never went back to coach, I am 6’4” with bad knees , I don’t mind having a old car but we like to splurge on vacation.

My daughter has a Bosch, and I absolutely hate trying to load anything in it,  It seems like the wires on the racks never fit what I try to put in there.  It takes forever to run a complete cycle.

Agreed. The downside to it being so quiet is that is does seem to take significantly longer to run vs  my old Kenmore.

And I thought it was just me with the wire racks. Normally, I like loading the dishwasher. It's like a puzzle. Maybe the Bosch is an advanced level puzzle that's above my ability to load. lol

I bring a hundred in singles and a hundred in fives , plus larger bills , when singles and fives are gone then I will write tip on slip. Got my hundred in singles will pick up the hundred in fives next week. Sail at end of the month.

Good strategy. I also hand my tip to the bartender instead of just laying on the bar. I will look him in the eye and say thank you. You would be amazed what that tiny gesture can do in service.

I agree, my only problem is that sometimes bartender will pour my drink as soon as he sees me walk to the bar , problem is a switch drinks a lot will go to scotch to gin to cognac etc , I never refuse the drink .

It’s very gory and violent though.

True, that it is. I try to tell people that it's not a Zombie show where its all blood and guts and nothing else.  It's a human interest show that just happens to be set in a post-apocalyptic  zombie world. It has a great cast, lots of character development where sometime the good guy is not always so good and sometimes the bad guy has good reasons for being the way he is.  It basically shows how different groups of people interact with each other  and what they are willing to do to survive and build the world back. At some point, the zombie stuff just fades to the back ground & you'll just accept there will be a few bloody killings each episode. But it's usually done to enhance a story line, not to BE the story line.

he old Bosch, and this new Jenn Aire, take 3 to 3.5 hours to finish.  Seems like a long time.  Overall it's not an issue, as long as it's finished by the next morning I'm happy.

The Jenn Aire does have a 1 hour cycle, but they say it uses more water and electricity than the other cycles.

My Kenmore takes under 2 hours to complete the cycle but like you, it's usually late at night so there is really no rush. My thinking was less time = less water & electricity but I guess that's not always true.

I have found that if you run out of small bills the casino cashier will break down large bills for you. No problem.

I usually like sitting by the window so I can stare out the window. A few times, people have asked me to pull the shade down and I comply. On longer flights, I like sitting aisle so I can get up to stretch without disturbing people. But I feel like people walking up & down the aisle are always bumping up against me. And it's not like I'm very broad-shouldered.

I have given up on trying to catch up on my review. To many things to do on the cruise so I'll just keep plugging away at it as I can. Yesterday we were supposed to go to Christchurch, but they closed the port due to winds. We just zig zagged our way slowly to Wellington. I thought at least I can work on my review. Ugh, internet was horrible. I'm guessing it might have been due to weather or lots of people on it. It kept dropping me so I gave up. Tomorrow is Napier and Picton the next day. Will try to catch up on this thread soon, but I'm not even sure how far behind I am.
