Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Our first cruise was my brothers wedding cruise on Carnival Freedom (pre- multiple fires 😜).  We were hooked and been cruising as much as possible ever since.  We went to NCL for several cruises following that one then began with Royal.

First Royal was Navigator.

On our very first cruise, Celebrity Horizon NYC to Bermuda, Empress was docked in Hamilton with us. The Pacific Princess, Love Boat, was out at the Dockyard.

Our very first cruise was back in 1988 on the old HomeLines.  We sailed from Manhattan to Bermuda and docked right in Hamilton for two nights.  It was great being right in the heart of things. We rented a moped there on Front Street (I think?) and toured the island, went to the beaches, etc.

Not lots of choices in 1970’s for 7 day cruise it was either Bermuda for a few days or Nassau for one day and Bermuda for one day , we sailed mostly Hal but did home lines also. Love docking at front street , did a hal cruise about 10 years ago from New York docking on grant street.

Our first Royal ship was Majesty in an ocean view in 2000.

Our first cruise was MS Seaward on NCL in a tiny inside near the forward anchor in 1989. Golf balls and skeet off the back and flaming baked Alaska in the dining room. We still have the list of passengers they used to give out from that ship.  Times have changed. Mostly for the better!

Had some time to go through pictures from our family time last week.  Have many pics but daughter doesn't like to have kids here too much.

First a roadblock I came across on the wayback from grocery shopping.  This was just around the corner from our cabin.

We have also done mopeds on Bermuda. They give you a lot of freedom to get around. I'm not sure I'd recommend them for everyone but I ride motorcycles so I'm pretty confident on them. Though doing traffic circles counterclockwise and driving on the wrong side of the street can take some concentration!🙃

I am too old for mopeds now but loved them in Bermuda in 70’s, 80’s etc , I discovered since I was wa bigger than everyone else I needed a moped for two so I could get up the hills without needing to pedal.

@DaniDanielle How is your granddaughter doing?  I hope she is improving. 🙂

She isn’t much better.  Her doctor just prescribed a second antibiotic and we will see how she is tomorrow. I am getting worried she will end up in the hospital, so praying second meds work. Thanks for asking

I used the wrong terminology previously. We rented scooters not mopeds.

Thanks for the warning. I probably need to schedule with my shuttle lady soon. I asked her but dont have the dates confirmed in writing.

I was planning on sitting on my lazy butt until the oct 6th harmony but I was looking to see if wonder price dropped and happened to see there are only 2 more cruises from florida to see Bermuda which I really wanted to see. I picked sept 13, but it's going to crowd harmony. The other is august 16 very very soon and we have lots of rain coming in then a heat wave by next weekend, though that could be orlando as I see orlando not local beach news. We are too small to get local news.

Only insides and OVs were left. Hard decision. I am not crazy about low decks but I did book a quad OV deck 2. Deck 3 on adventure doesnt go thru. Only see quads left, most all are connecting, but managed a quad not connecting near aft elevator. I really prefer s higher deck for Idk why but I also like to see out. So I will be cruising out of PC before xmas after all. Royal has quit going from florida to Bermuda after this cruise and I said go or fleever hold your peace. We overnight in Bermuda so 2 days. I have no idea yet what I'll do or see. Royal excursions mostly sold out, and I got a arrival time of 12:30, I was after the 45 day check in. Just booked. Some said 2 driver taxi cabs show you the island. Idk ..solo would rather be with a group.

Because we stayed overnight in Bermuda on a past cruise, we hired a local tour guide waiting for passengers to disembark in Hamilton. Best tour ever.  No fear of missing sail-a-way.  We toured the island at leisure, maybe 3 hours. If I could, I would book another cruise to Bermuda over any other port stops.  Maybe you can get someone from your roll call (if active) to tour with you.

Roll call not active. I'll wing it when I get there. I'm sure surely someone will be selling tours of some kind and I saved the post above with some kind of ferry and bus.

They checked her for pneumonia.  She didn't have it.  She has been to the emergency room and urgent care many times over the last several months.   Last month she was diagnosed with RSV.  They are saying her lungs are still weak from it.  They let her go home a little after noon today.

They want her to blow bubbles and on pinwheels to strengthen the lungs.  She will be seeing a Pulmonologest.

Happy to hear she is home and hopefully feeling a little better.    Never easy to see the little ones sick.     Seeing a Pulmonologist is a great start and personally I wouldn't mind blowing bubbles and pinwheels all day.  It will help strengthen her lungs.

Our youngest, Chris, had severe asthma as a toddler/young boy and we spent many nights in the ER.   The poor guy went through numerous tests and medications until one was found that worked best for him but then he dealt with constipation on a regular basis.

Noone in either family has a history of asthma and we changed household cleaners, laundry detergents, etc. and none of that seemed to make a difference.

It was difficult for him to standby and watch other children play, run around and partake in various sports.  But he always kept a great attitude about it and could beat everyone in card, board and video games!

He did really well whenever we were at the shore house.  We found that swimming and bike riding really helped build up his lungs.

Luckily enough he has pretty much outgrown it but still carries an inhaler with him especially during allergy season.

I hope that Finnley feels better soon and everyone can get some much needed rest ❣️
