Actually not at all accurate. Although our programme is the most advanced amongst European countries, most others have made a start, as indicated on the link below, bearing in mind that it is only very recently that vaccines have been aprroved for use by the EU.

So, 2nd shot administered at 11:05 AM yesterday. Felt fine all day. no arm soreness or anything. Went to bed around 10 PM and woke up a little after midnite with fever and chills.

Fever has subsided this morning but still low grade around 99.2 f and feeling really fatigued today. Asked my physician son about it and he said "Be happy, it's your immune system kicking in because it recognizes the MRNA and is mounting a response". He also said I was in the rare group over 70 who apparently have an immune system like a 20 year old. 

My wife has no symptoms whatsoever. Just a little arm soreness. Go figure.

Regardless, a little temporary fever is a small price to pay for immunity.

Received my 2nd Pfizer vaccination on Thursday morning and have experienced no side effects.  The soreness in my arm was actually less than with the first injection.

My second Moderna shot was administered Thurs AM. FYI  I had slight fever, malaise and disorientation on Fri and today my arthritic joints are aching.  My daughter in law, a State Health Dept nurse,  said this was normal since the inflamation is a sign that the Mrna is doing it's job.  Looking forward to traveling by car in two weeks to see my family.

My husband got the second Pfizer shot yesterday. This morning, Saturday, he had a very sore arm that prevented him from going to our yoga class and he was feeling fatigued. That's all.

 

He said when he went in for his second shot, hardly anyone was there. It looked like many of the people scheduled for the second dose didn't show up for their appointment. There was no bad weather, no snow or. rain, just cold. Be interesting to see how people who decide later on to get the second jab after missing their appointment are treated. Do they have to start all over? Do they go to the back of the line?

First dose of Moderna, today.  Spouse got Pfizer on January 29. Second doses scheduled. Hoping our next booked cruise, Dublin to Dublin, July 3-13, 2022, sails.  Wondering if we will need boosters by then?

Good news re the Russian vaccine.

Peer reviewed results published in the Lancet show similar efficiency as the US & European vaccines.

20 countries have approved it, and key markets such as Brazil & India are close to authorising it.

The more effective vaccines there are around the globe the more the world will benefit.

Well, 25 hours after onset, the fever broke. Feel much better today although a bit dragged out from the fever.  Now two weeks before max immunity kicks in. 

 

Wife still has zero side effects 🤷‍♂️

Yep, not surprised in the least bit. This is the main problem most everywhere. Acting like they are on the 3 year plan for the rest of us. They are still working on first doses for only medical people where my medical center is. No rush at all for them.

There's almost 13K people in my county that are 70+, so that's a lot of shots to do in addition to the 1a1 and 1a2 people (first responders, medical personnel, etc.) The first clinic was a disaster as it was first come, first serve, for 1a1 1a2, and 75+, with some people waiting 7 hours to get a shot. Now there is a website by county to sign up to be on the waiting list. They just finished the first shots for 75+ group Friday morning and started the 70+ the same day. My husband and I lucked out to be among the first in the 70+ group. Our 2nd shots of the Pfizer vaccine are already scheduled for 2/26. I'm not concerned about there being vaccine available for the second shot, which we will both definitely be taking. I'm just not planning anything for the few days following in case either of us have a reaction, as all we had was a slightly sore arm after the first shot.

 

Even with having the vaccine, we have no plans to travel before Fall at the earliest when hopefully far more people will have been vaccinated. Our April river cruise was cancelled - again(was originally scheduled for April 2020) and we have rescheduled our June cruise to June 2022.

Pfizer are trialling a 3rd dose (booster) to increase efficiency against known variants of the virus.

Many twists and turns ahead in our Global vaccination rollout.

 

Hopefully wealthy countries will increase their efforts to get vaccines to countries that need help under the Covax program.

Hopefully, my country will increase their efforts to get vaccines to the rest of us.  The WHO is so enamored with certain countries, let those countries donate their surplus doses to the WHO.  I don't want to see good doses wasted by sending them to countries that lack the minimum storage requirements.

+1 J&J will probably be a godsend for those countries. One shot required and only regular refrigeration.

Ghana just received a shipment of the Astrazeneca vaccine under the Covax program.

The first country outside India to do so.

Only normal refrigeration is required.

That's nice, but how does that help if AstraZeneca isn't effective against the variant which came from the same continent?

I’m happy for Ghana but they aren’t on any of my booked cruises. I can rattle off several countries I hope gets vaccinated soon! 🤞

I think we will find out this year that many of the 1st generation vaccines we currently are using will require booster shots as the next generation ones will have been tweaked to give increased variant protection.

 

Getting vaccinations proceeding all around the world is important in order to protect against serious illness and not overwhelm health services.

All vaccines, especially those which are easy to transport around the world have a part to play.

My state is behind on delivery of vaccine. Not getting first for a week and it's Moderna.

My well educated neighbor believes Moderna means probes will be implanted in my body, and  extremely angry at me for considering it and exposing her to my "probes" in future. I've had to decline her screaming phone calls.
