Ladders are just too dangerous for mature bodies, such as mine.  Haven’t used the pools in a long time because of this.

all kettles sold in the UK have automatic shut offs when reaching boiling and is UK law so would not be a problem to provide one in all cabins on all Princess ships.

Chair hogs are an issue on all lines and I have witnessed it on my very first cruise in 1986 . It's part of cruising that will never change. I don't need to be smack up against the pool it's too crowded there.   No matter what line I cruise on I am always been able to get a lounge chair on the sundeck.

Like the open closet as we are seldom ever able to get an accessible cabin due to their not being enough for all the disabled cruisers. My hubby can fold up his walker and put it in that closet out of the way!!

Where are the card rooms where you could spend hours with puzzles and board games?  Gone?

 

On the Royal class, Royal and Regal had the library, I think Majestic (maybe), but reports are the newer ships do not.

 

Interesting comments about the dress code, a subject that will never go away.  I don't get it with so many food options on the ships, why is this an issue?  I usually don't care what people wear but don't care to see baseball or hats of any kind in the dining room.  Why is this so important now?  Years ago people didn't always dress to the max for formal, but they had nice, clean clothes on, no torn jeans or shorts.

We had an incident with the open air movie on another cruise line. The covered chaise lounges were all occupied but one which had stuff on it. We waited 20 mins and no one came. A person occupying another seat told us that the people had been gone for over an hour. I removed the stuff and just as I did they showed up. A crew member ( junior officer by his uniform) arrived as the hoggers started yelling at me and trying to remove me from the seat. I told him why I had removed their stuff and the other woman backed me up as to how long they had been gone. The officer told me to leave and put their stuff back on the seat!  We went to the customer service manager and after waiting 40 mins to speak to her we missed the movie. She apologized and we were given some OBC and a credit towards our next cruise. 

Bottom line is they do not enforce their own rules for fear of upsetting passengers and having an incident.

Interesting. The open dressing area was one of the best things in the stateroom on my one Princess cruise (Royal P), the thing we often

mention we would like to see on other cruise ships.

Dress code-----we very rarely dress up for dinner but if we go smart casual we wear slacks and a polo shirt with a collar. Never have we seen anyone in the dinning room with a baseball cap or shorts at dinner. If someone did show up dressed like that they must have been turned away. 

Personally  we do not think it is a big deal what people wear but our beef is always that if there is a rule it should be enforced equally.

Maybe introduce escalators  onto ships to avoid /decrease use of lifts. ..especially at this time. I am able to walk upstairs but would cause a queue behind me walking downstairs due to knee issues.

I love the closet/dressing area on the ships, cabin layout is a major plus for me.  I would like to see the casino be smoke free, it is awful, some ships worse than others.  I got into a discussion with 2 ladies not gambling just taking up chair space so they could smoke.  I asked nicely if they were playing and they actually said, there's other machines to play! 🙂  I told them I wanted to play that one.  When they saw me approach a Princess person, they got up.

I hate cigarette smoke, too!  Why do they still have it in the casino?  Celebrity banned indoor smoking years ago and they are even more popular now than ever! HAL is phasing it out on their ships, too.  Smokers have Churchills on Princess to smoke indoors and that should be sufficient.

I would rather have the sofa /coffee table and a larger shower than a walk in closet. I understand why they took out the round end table and chair but it doesn't make for a comfortable environment. I can't imagine being quarantined in a standard Princess stateroom even with a balcony.  This is what I have to take into consideration now for all future cruises. In the past we just booked ocean view staterooms since we didn't use the room much.

And by not enforcing their rules in order to not offend the passenger breaking the rules, they offended you. I hope you reported the name of the employee to customer service. Just as employees who have done extra to make your cruise enjoyable should be mentioned to management so they can be recognized, ones who do the opposite like this one should also be cited by name so that management can train them how to react properly. And hopefully management would want them to do the proper thing in the incident you described.

Thrak, does the change in olfactory sensitivity coincide with your quitting smoking, perhaps? I don't recall your timeline on that, but it seems possible, to me, that no longer having lingering smoke particles in your nose might affect your sense of smell and cause you to be sensitive to smells you couldn't detect before.

100% agree!  All balcony cabins should provide a comfortable sitting area with a small table.  We spend so much more money every cruise because we only book Mini suites now.  I don’t care about the closet, either.
