That Bundle of Bacon

May I ask - at what resorts you stayed?

IMO - staying at an all inclusive in Cabo is a waste of airfare.  The best part of Cabo and San Jose are the bars and restaurants.  Fine dinning or very local - take your pick, but an opportunity to really enjoy the area.

Ive done it both ways and enjoyed both. You will have people on both sides In PV, Cancun and many other areas as well.

Too many people go to AI and never leave the resort.  Why do they even leave the US?  Too much to see and experience outside of the resorts.

Im not disagreeing with you  as you said "IMO" but it Is there choice.

Also Just because its AI doesnt mean you have to stay on property 24/7

When cruising some people want more sea days and others want more port days. I like both depends on my mood. Right now I want to do a Transatlantic with maybe 2 or 3 ports that I know ive already been to multiple times and another 12 sea days to relax.

But since cruising is halted  We will fly to Hawaii and stay at an ocean front Condo for the week to relax

Wish it was AI but will go to the market(costco) buy food and booze to keep the budget in check. we will still go out for meals and cocktails to the same places we have been multiple times before or maybe try something new.

Who knows, my vacation is my choice on how I want to spend my time and money when it is just the 2 of us

Now if we travel with our friends, then we all agree on relaxing or exploring or both😁

Now back to the Bacon I wish i had food porn from last night

But just imagine Chops pork belly double cut, smoked for 2 hrs with a bourbon  brown sugar BBQ sauce😁

I agree, I don’t really understand the lure of an AI 🤷‍♀️ (I have tried one).

We stayed in Cabo a couple of years ago at a small hotel and made our way through many local bars and restaurants - very fun 😁. I especially liked the smaller taco places.

Each to their own style of travel though!  Sorry OP not related to bacon 😁 😁😁

This would also require the cruise line to include wifi access to everyone for free - removing one of their revenue streams. Unlikely.

Not really... The newer ships and some older that have been updated have limited access to wifi for Royal Caribbean's apps. Also you can reach their website from your phone without an internet package.

I'm working on collecting info that each cruise line is putting out showing how onboard is changing and how they are using your cellphone or tablet for most interactions. So far DCL appears to be the most detailed. Almost everything to do on the ship now requires your cellphone. From daily health questionnaire, to restaurant menus, to reservations, to virtual queue,  to chats with guest services, to the muster drill.

For RCCL, they don't have as much listed, yet.

Hopefully RCI IT dept is working on an onboard app like Princess and Disney.  It makes sense to  me.  But I want to give a shout out to Billy Baltic in post #98 for bacon pic.  That is nice

Shame we don't hear more about this, Your odds of getting Covid from contaminated surfaces is even less than you odds of catching it after full vaccination.

Seems that all this over sanitation the first world has done in the last 75 years actually makes us human more susceptible, by reducing our natural immunity.

55-60 years ago I worked my way thru school in various big city restaurants doing everything from short order cooking, full cook, to busing tables, to making cold sandwich plates, etc. Few became ill.

I can tell you "sanitation" has improved dramatically with attitudes and technology (dish and silverware washing equipment is sooo much better now, for one thing. . But not perfect.

I have a few pet peeves about servers  that I do not want to discuss.

But I do get upset in restaurants or on board when the  server brings out a tray with 4 meals and places it down next to another table and people 2 feet away from our food are talking about our meals.

That said, I was  impressed with the overall  conditions with Celebrity before and it's going to be better (if that's the right word) now. Next scheduled cruise on Oasis with family. We are not overly optimistic, but we are for next years.

PS; I never liked the breakfast or lunch buffets on board, too much tumult. But the afternoon snacks when the place was a ghost town, ....hmmm good.

Our first cruise was on the Enchantment to Bermuda. I am an avid shipwatcher and wanted to photograph our arrival back into Baltimore in the early morning hours. I planned to be awake at 6am and for some reason woke at 3 or 4am by mistake. Without realizing my mistake I grabbed the camera and rushed to the top deck above windjammer to photograph the sunrise. Sadly it was pitch black on the Chesapeake but the entire front of the ship smelled like cooking bacon. I stood there in the dark, alone smelling bacon and not being able to have a single piece.

The Army mess hall  in Basic training when you had 5 AM KP was much the same.

Post your recipe, PLEASE. I assume you are making them from scratch.

The packaged turkey bacon and sausages my cardiologist makes me eat are garbage.

This is why I started my response with different strokes. I enjoy the packaged turkey bacon, and what I said was it is far better than the oily tasteless bacon found on a cruise ship. FYI... if your Cardiologist is telling you to eat turkey bacon/sausage... find a different Cardiologist, as neither pork nor turkey bacon should be recommended by any Cardiologist who has a patient with cholesterol issues.

I like regular bacon, but I get mine corn cob smoked from a market in Bradenton.

Darn, I was hoping you had a great new way of making that stuff. 🦃 🥓 🤢

I like US bacon and pea meal(Canadian) bacon.  UK bacon comes in a distant 3rd.  One time we had pea meal bacon and our son who liked ham didn't want to try it.  We told him it was the same as ham and he chowed down!

Different strokes. I would much prefer the turkey bacon I make at home to the tasteless oily stuff they call bacon on a cruise ship. LOL

The only turkey bacon I ever had was the stuff in the solarium area of the Oasis class.  Reminded me of the carboard on the back of our grade school tablets!   I'll give it a fair shot somewhere else!  BTW, I'll wave to you as we board Brilliance next Sept.  Any good hotel suggestion nearby? @Mikew0805

I only like the stuff I make at home, as I like it a certain way. There are very few places outside of home that I will eat regular bacon either. I like it chewy in the center and crispy around the edges. The only way I can seem to make that happen consistently is by using the oven.

Four Points by Sheraton is a great all suite choice, it is between the airport and the port... about 10 minute drive to the port. I stayed there in 2012 when it was Sheraton Suites, just before a cruise. I didn't live in the Tampa area at that time.

Brilliance is a great ship. I have had a couple cancelled on her over the last year, and hope to make it back on board again.

I'll look at Four Points, thanks for that. I can probably spend a little more for one night, this was supposed to be our 40th anniversary cruise so we sprung for our first full suite.  Gina and I hope to see you on a cruise again someday!

I remember back in… ‘12? Maybe? Burger King had a Bacon Sundae. I remember getting so many of them when they were out, the combination of the salty and the sweet was 😘👌
