dfish Posted May 24, 2021 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Good morning, everyone. Well, we didn't get the needed rain yesterday, so the next chance is Wednesday. Happy Victoria Day to our Canadian neighbors. I'll wear a tiara, but someone else can have my escargot. The drink of the day sounds interesting and I'm looking forward to the wine description. I'm heading to the pool shortly. My back is really crying for it. Today's recipe looks wonderful. I may just have to stop at the store and get some shrimp on my way home. I'll put it over riced cauliflower to lower the carb count and it should make a wonderful dinner. https://damndelicious.net/2019/02/04/garlic-butter-shrimp-scampi/ 29
Rare puppycanducruise Posted May 24, 2021 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Good morning. Happy Victoria Day! I don't have a tiara to wear 🙁. Wish I had some escargot. Amusing quote that's also true. Thanks for the recipe @dfish That looks great. Looking forward to reading about the wine and drink of the day. Another port I have not visited. Thanks in advance for the pictures. Sending prayers for everyone on the Care List. A toast to all who celebrate. Stay safe.

Rare kazu Posted May 24, 2021 #6 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Thanks for the Daily, Rich and our morning smile 🙂 Happy Monday and a very happy Victoria Day to everyone who celebrates! Escargot day? YUM 🙂. I absolutely love them. They do a pretty decent job of them on the BHB, too 😉 That quote of Crichton’s is so true. Love shrimp scampi but it seems strange that’s the meal for the day when it’s escargot day. Well, one can always have both 😉 It’s a BRRRR-Y cold morning here. Glad I covered the planters I left outside and brought the others in. It looks like our rain has finally stopped so I can put the pedal to the metal today and get started outside. About time. I’ll focus on what can tolerate another cold night though and then, hopefully, it is clear sailing 🤞 Today’s Care List: Kakalina and prayers for possible surgery Welfare of furloughed crews Garlictown recovery from arm surgery StLouisCruisers’s DS surgery recovery & DB’s struggle with insurance to pay for operation 57redbird’s DH’s recovery, rehab and she as caregiver St. Louis Sal’s drug trial Sharon in Az’s ear Mary229’s 2 sisters with lymphoma. Use Soil Moist. It helps the earth retain the moisture and releases it back to the plant. I have a lot of planters and this makes a big difference for me. A jar can do a number of planters. Just under $20 here in New Brunswick. If you can’t get it locally, it’s well worth ordering IMO. Rare rafinmd Posted May 24, 2021 #7 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Thank you for the Victoria Day Daily, Rich. I think this is my "outsider" day. While I will salute Tiaras, I'll pass on both the Escargot and the Shrimp Scampi. As a first generation American with family in Canada I will salute Victoria Day and love the quote by Crichton. I've been to Osaka twice, most recently on the Amsterdam in 2017. My alternate dinner suggestion is Chilled Apple Vichyssoise, Fruit Cup au Natural, and Linguini with Prosciutto and Gorgonzola as served on MS Prinsendam May 24, 2015. Mr. Boston Posted May 24, 2021 #8 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Good morning and thanks for the daily report Rich. If I see someone wearing a tiara today I’ll know why. The escargot lover’s will be happy today. Happy Victoria Day to our Canadian friends up north. Totally spot on quote today. Todays recipe sounds delicious and I like dfish’s substitution. Can’t wait to see the photos of today’s port as I’ve never been there. Prayers to all those in need.
Rare Crazy For Cats Posted May 24, 2021 #9 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily report. I’ll pass on the escargot and the shrimp. I like today’s quote, seems very true. I’m feeling more confident that our November cruise will happen. We booked air and hotel for that cruise on points. The plus is that should things change I can cancel without penalty. I hope everyone has a good start to the work week.
cat shepard Posted May 24, 2021 #10 Share Posted May 24, 2021 (edited) Thank you for today’s Daily, Rich! Sitting at my dealership waiting for my routine maintenance appointment. Just enough time to research the wine du jour. They were really quick checking me in this morning only four other appointments. They are still being careful. Just three of us in the waiting room. Thank you Roy & Jacque for keeping our lists! Morning Dailitrs& my Sisters. I actually have a tiara that was a retirement presentation. I might even have a picture of me wearing it. I will look. Love escargots and when paired with the meal during jour, my garlic gene will be very happy. Happy Victoria Day to my neighbors up North, hope you get to celebrate it a bit more this year. Debbie, love today’s meal. And I might substitute zoodles for the pasta. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating. Stay well everyone! ******* Today’s white wine is available from several online distributors with a price starting at $15.49. There seems to be a bit conflicting opinion about the body, but I would like to try it. Winemaker Notes #57 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 of 2020 Medium green yellow; pure pepper on the nose; hinting at typical Grüner spiciness; aromatic herbs and yellow fruit; dense and complex on the palate; great promise for the future. Goes best with fish e.g. with trout or salmon; also very good with spicy food; especially asian cuisine. WE92 Wine Enthusiast: A subtle tone of yeast on the nose has a bright edge of lemon zest. The palate also combined savory, textured yeast with tingling, zesty lemon, resulting in a lovely combination of richness and tangy freshness. The body is slender, concentrated, dry and vivid. JS90 James Suckling: A fresh, bright white with sliced-lemon and green-apple aromas and flavors. Medium body. Creamy finish. Drink now. Screw cap. summer slope Posted May 24, 2021 #11 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Good morning. I'll have to dust off my Tiara. Do not care for Escargot. Happy Victoria Day to our Northern neighbors. The meal sounds wonderful, will save for another day. Going to be a hot and sunny day. Sister and BIL are here for a week, so will enjoy family time. Prayers and toasts to our lists. Stay safe, social distance, and wear your mask. In a cocktail shaker, add the mint leaves, simple syrup, and lime juice. Muddle well to release the essence of the herbs. Add gin and fill the shaker with ice. Shake well. Strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice. Double straining is recommended if you don't want any hint of small particles or torn herbs in your beverage. Top with ginger beer. kochleffel Posted May 24, 2021 #17 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Sasha will wear her tiara if she can find it. She hasn't worn it since watching the last Royal Wedding. (Sasha is a cat, but she thinks that she's a leopard.) Grüner Veltliner is the typical white wine of the Danube Valley. It's also grown in this area, so I could drink a local one. In general, varieties found in Austria and Germany grow well in the Finger Lakes: Lemberger (Blaufränkisch in Austria), Riesling, Grüner Veltliner .

StLouisCruisers Posted May 24, 2021 #20 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Good morning everyone! Happy Victoria Day! Thanks to Rich for this edition of the Daily. The list keepers, Jacqui and Roy, did a fine job as usual. I am glad you are recovering well, Roy. I have not been to Osaka before so will enjoy photos of it if any are posted here. We didn't have any photos of yesterday's port, Luanda, did we? Hoping for more luck today. LOL on all the retirement tiaras! Congrats to all who received one. Escargot Day is not my cup of tea, though DH loves them when on a ship. It's a special event for him. The menu today of Garlic Butter Shrimp Scampi sounds great. Thanks to Debbie for her recipe suggestion. Jacqui's gardening tip of the day makes a lot of sense. So "YAY!" from this cheerleader! Congrats to all on the Celebration List today. I'm sending my own congratulations to my DGS's soccer team who is #3 in the country this week in his age group. They keep advancing along to the soccer finals. We're planning a trip to Missouri to see the US Youth Soccer Midwest Regionals later in June so we can watch him play. Kids from about 16 states will play in the tournament. At the same time we can visit all of our family members who are in hospital, rehab or nursing home. At the rate we're going that will take a lot of time! For those on the Care List I hope and pray for improvement for all of you. Let's get that list pared down to practically nothing! Nothing would make me happier.🙂

smitty34877 Posted May 24, 2021 #23 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Good morning everyone and thanks to Rich, et al for the Daily. I am partial to escargot and tiara's and the recipe today looks great. I hope our Northern friends are enjoying Victoria Day and that the fireworks were not too overdone. We have not been to Japan but would love to go. My status as the family princess started when I informed my children that my camping days were over. I had done enough sleeping on the ground,in the rain etc in my twenties and would not agree to more. DH found a plastic tiara in a card store which I drag out on holidays to avoid having to do dishes! It works! DB gave me one on our first cruise together and I wore it every night with dinner. It has been tough to be a princess during a pandemic. Terry 26
ger_77 Posted May 24, 2021 #24 Share Posted May 24, 2021 Good morning, thanks for the Daily! I do have a real tiara - a small one that I wore for Grade 12 graduation in 1971; my parents purchased it at the small jewellery store in our town. I truly felt regal wearing it. Love escargots and usually have them on a BHB, but have made them at home - I have a dynamite recipe that a friend of ours created, one that will definitely keep the vampires away. Happy Victoria Day to all Canadians - some say we still celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday because every month needs a long weekend. I say it's because - especially for people on the prairies - we like to experience 4 seasons in 3 days. Its great for those who like to go camping, it really tests their skills. LOL So let's see, this past week we've gone from record breaking high temperatures to snow, and now we're under a rainfall warning. Ah, this must be spring. We've been to Japan twice and have been escorted around various places by our DDIL's parents, but have not been to Osaka. I'm sure that like other cities in Japan, it has a myriad of beautiful places and things to see. I'll be anxious to see photos here. Love the menu suggestion for today and I just happen to have some shrimp in the freezer, so I think I'll get them thawed out and put together the dish for us tonight. When it comes to the garlic, I'll use the "measure with your heart" way of adding it, and see what happens. DH loves the lemon aspect, so we've got a dish made in Heaven for the two of us! And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Extra healing prayers for Roy. Raising the glasses and toasting all on the celebration list. Stay safe, be well, wash your hands, and wear your masks! Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry
garlictown Posted May 24, 2021 #25 Share Posted May 24, 2021 😎83° (28°C) later today.👍 Thank You for the daily, Rich @richwmn, Jacqui @kazu for the Care List and to Roy @rafinmd for the Celebration List. We live in the Garlic Capital so like most foods with the bulb.😊 🚢The cruise planned for 2022 on the Noordam doesn't seem to have Osaka on the itinerary so I'm looking forward to seeing photos. We did have three ports in Japan the last time on a HAL ship but sadly no Osaka then either.....just Naha, Nagasaki and Fukuoka.🇯🇵 🙏Prayers to all in need and Happy Victoria Day to my good friends to the north.🇨🇦 Katie
