Good morning everyone. Thank you all for the birthday wishes yesterday. Celebrating my birthday without Sam for the first time in 63/years was not easy, but all the birthday wishes here and on Facebook made things a little easier. My sister in law and my oldest and dearest friend brought lunch from my favorite deli in Scarsdale, NY and my friend whomI met in camp gave me a scalding ball and a set of jacks. She and I used to play jacks on the tennis courts at camp because the idea of my tennis racket hitting that little ball felt like too big an effort at the time.

I love all kinds of onions, always wear my sun glasses, well into winter when sun glare effects my driving. I won a free cruise on Maasdam many years ago playing bingo on my birthday. Of course, by the time we upgraded, it was no longer free, but certainly a lot less than if we had paid for the whole cruise.

Have a good day everyone. The delta variant has been found in New Jersey somI will continue to be as careful as possible. It’s also in LA where my oldest grandson is back working in his office. He just moved into his first solo apartment and is busy figuring out how to assemble his new bed frame.

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily report.  Another heat wave is starting here in MA.  I greatly appreciate the ac.  I’ll pass on the crab cakes and we will have steak instead.  We are heading to PA next weekend so am cleaning the downstairs to make it presentable for the pet sitter.  I turned on the vacuum and DH disappeared along with the cats!😂. I hope we will see regular sail always, yesterday was a good day for cruises.

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!  I use all kinds of onions in cooking, wear my sunglasses year-round (my eye doctor says to wear them to help delay cataracts), and the only time I ever play bingo is on a Dam ship.

We're under a heat warning for the next week with daytime highs ranging from +32 to +38 (90F to 100F), so we'll be opening the windows every night to get cool fresh air, but closing everything up and using the A/C during the day.   I've noticed some of the neighbours have already had A/C technicians visiting their homes for units that needed servicing or weren't working properly.  Sure glad we installed central air 5 years ago - who'd think you would need it on the "frozen tundra"?

Today is definitely cause for celebration - it's the 7th anniversary of the last time I closed my office door.  Besides marrying my DH, it's been the best decision ever!

I couldn't believe how great it felt watching the Celebrity Edge at sail-away yesterday.  How festive it was with the fire boats, the constant toots, and the great send-off from folks lining the causeway and condos.  So much noise, and a great send-off for those lucky passengers.

I made Thursday's lemon garlic salmon in the toaster oven on the deck yesterday and DH has pronounced it as "soooooo good!"   It's definitely easy to prepare, and makes a great light dinner on a warm summer night.  I used 2 large salmon fillets, so there is enough that we'll have a re-run of it for tonight's dinner as well.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  Clinking the glasses together to toast all on the celebration list.  Stay safe, be well, wash your hands, and wear your masks!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Good morning from Philadelphia. We spent 2 nights in a B&B close to downtown. My first time touring Philadelphia, and have enjoyed the historic buildings and history on display.

Arrival had to include a stop at pier 82 along the Delaware River to see the SS United States.  The side view as we drove towards her was impressive with the massive funnels. Otherwise, she looks very sad.

Thanks to all who make this post possible.  Spent part of yesterday  watching video of Celebrity Edge sailing.  Report that Captain Kate greeted passengers as they boarded.  Many tears from passengers and crew alike.  Happy tears so all good.

Dinner today will include shrimp and Greek salad. And lots of thoughts about when we can next sail.  Happy Sunday.  Katherine

Blessed Sunday.  Thanks Rich for our Daily. Roy thanks for keeping the Prayers and Cheers list.

I need help. I did a dumb thing last night. Picked up a candle to blow out and dropped it. Now have wax on our new flagstone patio. Anyone know what I should do? I'm not sure if I should scrub it in case it smears? It's a mess..

Today is a free day. No chores except the wax problem.

The crab cakes sound delicious Deb, but Allen wants pork ribeye tonight. With smashed potatoes and corn on the cob. We've eaten so many salads this week I have to admit the romaine will stay in the fridge today.

Ann I think I would enjoy a glass of the wine of the day. I'll add it to my list and look for it.

When I was growing up I played Bingo many times at the Moose Lodge with my mom, and our carnivals had bingo tables. I wanted to play bingo more than ride the ferris wheel.

Wishing all a wonderful day. God bless. Prayers and Cheers.

Here's sad news for Georgetown.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The Delta COVID-19 variant, a strain of the virus that’s spread more easily, is in Williamson County.

The Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) confirmed Friday that testing identified three cases of the Delta variant, the first ones officially reported in the Austin area.

Put some ice in a zip-top bag and set it on top of the melted wax for a few minutes; it will harden the wax enough that you should be able to scrape it off with a credit card or something similar.  You don't want to use anything sharp, or you'll scar the flagstone.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Joy, the trick i've heard about< and tried, for wax is to put ice on it and get it really cold.  It should (and I emphaze should, come up as a hard, blob without leaving a mess.  Now, with Texas summer weather, that could be a slight prolem, as ice just might melt before the wax gets hard enough to put someting under it to loosen it ffom the stone.  If you have some blue ice in the freezer that should work.

@ger_77  Gerry posted about the ice just as I was finishing this.  Great minds?

Just saw your post about the Delta variant.  Be carefue.

Good morning!  The Edge sailaway was pretty great yesterday, wasn't it?!  I wore one of my "On Deck for the Cure" T-shirts and we made pineapple-coconut drinks.  Corny!

🛳️  🎉  🎊  🍹  🥥  🍍

I'm thinking about @Seasick Sailor's wax problem.  That is a tough one.  Maybe something very absorbent put over it and then a hot iron?

I've been to Plymouth two times -- once by land and once by sea.  DH and I are both pilgrim descendants, so we got a kick out of being there.  There are millions of Americans who are, actually.

We have crab cakes in the freezer.  Not as good as Debbie's recipe, but good in a pinch.  I'll take any crab cake any time.  🦀  😋

I hope everyone has a peaceful and pleasant Sunday.  Prayers for those on the care list and a tip of the glass to those celebrating.

Checking in from the warm Pacific NW.  The weather report has been accurate.  We lost power for a couple of seconds yesterday afternoon, just enough to have to reset a few clocks and our satellite TV.  Then last night near midnight it went off for two hours.  I was worried about our two freezers and refrigerator, but I do have a small generator in the garage that I thought I would have to hook up.  This morning, after our walk I had two emails from the power company: one stating that the power was off at our address and another stating that it was restored and they didn't know the cause.  Our power lines are underground and I would expect there would be less used for A/C around midnight, so it is a mystery.  Today we should hit 101F and 108F tomorrow, then it is just something for the history books.

Good morning all!

We survived the first of several HOT nights but even with 3 fans going in the bedroom it was barely tolerable.  Pretty sure I will be sleeping downstairs on the couch the next few nights when it will be even hotter. Even better would be to throw my pillow in the backyard, but the mosquitoes would eat me alive LOL.   This is breaking all records, I read that only 30% of Seattleites have A/C -- I'm surprised it's that many. I know very few who have A/C here.   Our usual temp now would be about 73, not 103.

Love onions in moderation but too much of it doesn't agree with me.  Cannot live without my sunglasses, like the quote and wine.  The meal sounds yummy, I would make a few moderations like instead of white bread I use Panko when I make crab cakes.  Would also do away with the bun or at least half of it.  We played Bingo a LOT in the past, and won hundreds of $$ but then the casino took it over and the winnings became smaller and smaller.  Now we play less frequently.

Darn, I missed the sail away yesterday, thank you to those who posted photos and videos.  It was especially exciting for me because we're booked on the Apex, Edge's newer sister, in November.  I am following a live-from on the Celebrity board.

I can't like that.  Stay safe.

Plymouth England on Rotterdam 2009 - We spent most of the day on a tour through the moors, and not much time in Plymouth itself. Some of these are from the tour. Many of the "roads" on which we went on our tour were rather narrow with the van being rubbed on each side by the bushes. And  then, there is of course, the inevitable food picture.

Good morning all. Thanks Rich and all Dailyites. The heat is not fun for those of us not used to it and being on the river I got to watch alit of people who aren’t using their common sense back boats, jump from bridges, and let kids swim without adult eyes on them. I watch the kids and try not to watch the adults or at least not laugh too loud when the boat they are backing ends up sideways in the bushes instead of the river. I should work outside but no matter how hard my mind shouts to get out there my other senses say why not sit in front of the fan and work on the jigsaw puzzle.

👍Thank You for The Daily, Rich @richwmnand to Roy @rafinmd for both the Care and Celebration Lists. 😊 Your memes are great, Jacqui @kazu.😄

I prefer Ray Bans ~dh likes his Maui Jim readers. 😎

We rarely play Bingo on the ship and will bring cards for Hand and Foot or bring our own Rummikup tiles and holder. The library on some HAL ships had boxed games. With "cuts" not sure what's near the Explorations Cafe anymore?????? 📚

The closest we've been to Plymouth is Portsmouth in the UK.

🙏Prayers for all in need and Happy Sunday,

Katie

If it's too hot to get it really hard, @rafinmd Roys suggestion of doing early tomorrow morning just might be the best time before it get really hot.

It must be too hot already. I don't have a big blob of wax, it's more like spilled across the patio, so it is not coming up well. I'm so mad at myself!!🤬

It will be ok.  Wait for tonight when there is no sun or very early tomorrow morning and then apply the ice to it.  It will work.  It’s just too hot to try it right now.

I have a thought - Have an old rag you don’t care about that is absorbent.  Put it over the mess and it might absorb some of the wax.  When you go to pull off the rag a lot of the wax should come with it, I think.

Wait for someone else in case this could make it worse.

Good morning from a partly cloudy moring in Central Texas.  We are hoping for at least some of the rain that is predicted for the next several days.  Too help insure getting rain, I let the lawn sprinkler run last night, as i just knew if I didn't in anticatatin of the forecasted rain, it would not rain.  😁

We used a lot of onions, as we both like them in dishes, and I often will add extra onions.  In Texas and Arizona, it's hard to be outside without sun glasses.  Even on cloudy days, we often need them because of the glare.  It's been about 20 year since I played bingo on a BHB.  I played with older DD on the Volemdam in 2002, and we both won a fair amount.  After that, the cost to play got expensive, especially when the wins pretty much diappeared.  🤣

The Chesterton quote is interesting.  We have crab cakes that are a combination of the Pinnacle Grill recipe and one from an air fryer cookbook, but not as a sandwich.    I'll pass on the drink and the wine.

@smitty34877  Enjoy your BBQ.

@St Pete Cruiser  Thank you for the pictures of Philadelphia and of the SS United States.  It is a a shame she's gotten in such bad shape.  We lived about ten miles from Kennett Square in the early 1980s, and would go into Philadelphia on Sundays several times a year.  A favorite place, especialy with the DDs, was the Franklin Institute.

We have been to Plymouth tiwice on BHBs.  In 2004 on the Noordam and in 2017 on the Prinsendam.   In 2002, the Navy was holding excercises in the bay, and Captain John Scott was in touch  with some of the ships.  As a former member of the Royal Navy, he told the passengers what some of the ships in the exercise were.

These are a combination of pictures from out two visits.

Charles Chruch ruins, of the 18th century church, has been left as a monument to those who lost their lives during the air raids of the Second World War in Plymouth. The church was bombed in 1941.  We were told it is the only church that does not used the word saint in the name, as it was named after one of the kings.
