I may just have to get a new one, but nowadays it is really difficult to get rid of the old one.  No one wants  battered old luggage.

I don't know if you have a foster home in your area, but ANY suitcases are appreciated.  Foster children usually carry their belongings in a garbage bag so the suitcase would be welcomed.

Today's alternative menu is a mixture of the Modern and Traditional menu pages for September 5, 2016:

https://aroundamericabitbybit.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/menu0905.pdf

My choices were Beef Consume with Pumpkin Royale (Modern), Grilled Black Angus Ribeye Steak with Horseradish Mashed Potato, and Pear Caramel Cake a la mode.  Here's the Ribeye:

And the desert:

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

Interesting days. I'm late posting, so I'll count that; otherwise I'm always early or on time. I like cheese pizza, with pepperoni, lol. We should try to be charitable every day. I do have a few rocks collected on my travels, but don't consider them pets!

Very true quote.

I like the chicken, pass on the drink. I'll take the wine.

I haven't been to today's destination.

Not much going on here. We've had some rain showers of and on today.

@ger_77 Great news on the mammogram result.

@Vict0riann Glad DD is feeling better.

Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

Stay safe and wear your mask if need be.

I have a favor to ask.   Would anyone be willing to post the recipe links while I am gone?   It would be from Friday, September 10th through Monday September 20th.   Let me know if you would.  You can reach me at chebble1 at yahoo dot com.

Unfortunately, Donna has had to cancel.   She had new back x-rays taken and the orthopedic surgeon called her in and wants to do her hip replacement this week.  He said her hip is very unstable and she would probably suffer a break and fall in the very near future.  We don't want that to happen on the cruise!   Also, she occasionally uses a portable oxygen concentrator, but only for flying.   She wouldn't need it on the ship, but if she brings it, they would not let her board.   So, she will be staying home to get a new hip.

Tried to email you but it was rejected.  Message too big for the system?  It was a very short message.  I’ll flip it - if someone offers, good but if not, I’m happy to help.  My email is in my signature 😉

that’s sad on Donna.  I know you were all looking forward to this 😢. But health is first.  Hope her hip replacement goes well 🙏🏻

I never had a pet rock, but was a rockhound as a teenager.  Where we lived in central Washington there was a lot of agate and petrified wood in the hills and the big thing to find was an Ellensburg Blue Agate.

My parents bought me a lapidary outfit with a diamond saw and polishing wheels, so I could try to make jewelry settings.  After college I lost interest in it, but I still have a wooden box in the garage with rocks I collected more than 60 years ago.  Worked at my log house today after stopping at Costco and buying a replacement light fixture for the one I broke yesterday.

Also bought a new filter for my shop vac today.  Opened it up and it looked like there was a cat or a raccoon in there with the big ball of dog hair.

Sorry that Donna won't be on the cruise with you, but her health comes first. With the new hip, she should be ready for next summer and cruising.  Best wishes for Donna for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Good Evening All,

We’re having heat ( upper 90s) and yuck in the air. I’m feeling lazy. So I’m posting late to recognize Be Late for Something Day.😊

@Sir PMP Nice picture of Statendam. We saw her in Bergen on Prinsendam’s farewell.

Have gotten half my wash done, my tent cleaned and about half my stuff put away. Got home around 3:00 yesterday. The trip was great and I highly recommend North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We had rain on and off the first 2 days and lovely clouds the last 3 with a few sprinkles.

Heres a few pictures from our rides:

Some of the single track went along the rim, and it was a great thrill. Other parts were through forest and alpine meadows. It was surprising how many wildflowers were out. I really prefer the North Rim.

Thanks to Rich for the Daily, to Roy for the care and celebration lists, and to everyone for the humour, photos and information.

We have sunshine today, 19 C.   Dead headed  the Hydrangeas this morning, they look so much better now.

@ger_77 good news with your mammagram result.

@dfishsorry that Donna has to cancel, best wishes to her for successful surgery.

@cat shepard had not heard of the "Three Brooms" wine, sounds as though it is all exported.

Stay safe, take care everyone.

Interesting  days.  I actually prefer cheese pizza.  I know I am wierd!

@ger_77,  congratulations on your  “normal” results.  Surprising how wonderful it is to receive normal or negative results.  I will be so happy to have my subsequent tests and hopefully good results on Wednesday afternoon.

Pictures of Grand Canyon are wonderful.  For someone living in the West for many years, I have never seen it.  Don’t think I have even flown over it.

Cooler day today,  but warmer weather is expected later this week

Have a good evening.

I got my flights to Mobile Alabama to see my son. He’s already making plans about all the things he wants me to see and do. Long flights but you get that a lot flying out of small airports.

We are in Bend and the air quality is horrible

(hazardous is what I'm reading!😯)...will cut short our stay here on the Deschutes River and head to the coast. No agenda just enjoying a get away from home in Northern CA.

✈ Have a safe trip to Mobile.

Good Evening Everyone!  Sorry I am so late, and it's not because it's Be Late For Something Day.  I am beyond frustrated at trying to post using my iPhone.  So here I am using our desk top and we had to reboot it, probably should have shut it down while we were gone.

Anyway, we are home now but very tired after a very long yesterday.  Our flight wasn't until 6:00 pm so we decided to do a city tour which was nice because Craig got to go up the Space Needle.  Not Me!!!  We got to the airport about 12:30 pm and spent the afternoon eating, drinking and watching our downloaded movies.  It made for a very long day sitting in various uncomfortable seating.

I won't be able to post any pictures until I can figure out what is going on with my phone and CC.  I really thought it was the weird internet on the ship but noooo, it's happening at home too.  So very frustrating to compose a post and then not be able to post it.

All in all our cruise was very normal.  We are so used to wearing masks that having to wear one wasn't a big deal.  Embarkation was super easy, however I missed the sign for Neptune Suites and were in the regular lane.  It really didn't matter because we got on the ship so fast.  The food did get redundant after a few days but I had expected that based on the "limited menus" we've had previously at restaurants locally and when we went to Las Vegas.  Hopefully that will change over time.  I think the best thing I ate on board was the Cheese Souffle at Rudi's Sel de Mer on Wednesday.  We are not 4 star just yet (although should be based on our history prior to the Mariner point changes) so we were not invited to the Mariner get together.  We got a note that our tiles would be mailed to us.  We didn't really use the Neptune Lounge.  I was supposed to have some casino cash from my HAL credit card but it never appeared so I need to call them about that on Tuesday.  The concierge at the lounge couldn't help me with that.  We were just too far away to utilize the lounge.  Also, I'm not sure I would do an Aft Wrap Around Suite on an Alaskan cruise again, it was just too windy for us.  We have Aft Vista Suites scheduled for our next 3 cruises so it'll be nice to compare.  However, Mr Craig kept asking how we could switch to a Neptune Suite!  He loved the space.  And, oh my, that bathroom was wonderful.  Reminds me that we met an officer named Craig (I believe from Scotland) in the elevator so I said Craig meet Craig, then I made the mistake of telling him what our last name is and I don't think it went over very well.  If you know any Scottish history (the massacre at Glencoe) you'll understand.

Have a great evening everyone!

@Sharon in AZ  Welcome home and glad you had a nice cruise.

Just a suggestion.  You might try clearing your browsing history on your phone.  When we were having CC problems a few weeks ago, I had to clear my browsing history several times on my android tablet to get CC to work.  That might help with an iPhone too.  I imagine you've tried rebooting the phone by turning it off and back on.
