@Sea Viewer sorry you can't get to the hospital right now, but try to busy yourself as best you can.  I reorganized the bathroom cabinets while waiting for visiting hours when DH was in for his major procedure.    Good luck to you, girl!

I started to organize my file cabinet, I'm creating a to shred pile. It is a good thing to do as it's keeping me occupied but not too messy!

Carpe diem, my most used foreign expression!  @ger_77, what a beautiful scarf!  Today is a busy-one- day-before-embarking-on-the-Zuiderdam-day. Finishing a bit of laundry, filing paid bills, deciding what to do with the food that might go bad in 35 days, finding more stashed yarn to add to one more carry-on bag, and leaving everything clean and tidy for our return.  We opened our favorite Chandon champagne last evening to celebrate negative Covid-19 tests (taken at 5:55pm, just under 48 hours before we board). Prayers and hope for The Daily readers, looking forward to good internet onboard just to keep up with The Daily

Good morning, Dailyites, and thanks to Rich, Roy and all who post.  Miss Camilla looks lovely in her Valentine's outfit, I imagine all of us would love a cuddle with her!  Tana and her son are very lucky to have you, @smitty34877, they are both in my prayers, and you, too!

What a terrible thing to be happening in Ukraine!  It's hard to believe it could be happening in this day and age.  We are going out today to do recycling, and will stop at the Red Cross to make a donation for the Ukrainian refugees, the Canadian government is matching donations, so that is a good thing.  Love that scarf, @ger_77, do take it on your next cruise for gala nights!  BC is removing all Russian products from our liquor stores.,

We have been to Belgium on road trips, but have not visited Zeebrugge.  I think it was listed on one of our cancelled cruises.  Have to wonder what is going to happen to cruises in Europe now.

Good morning from sunny, breezy and cool Quartzsite.

We've been to Zeebrugge three times, once on Noordam III and twice on the Prinsendam.   Twice we took the train to Brugge and once we did a tour to Ghent.  We have also been to Brussels, but from Antwerp, also on the Prinsendam.

These are pictures from our two times in Brugge.  In 2004, in addition to walking around Brugge, we also took a boat ride on the canals.  Brugge was quite a bit more crowded on June 2004, than it was in September 2016.  These pictures are a combination of both visits.

A couple of pictures of Zeebrugge on the way to the train station.

In 2016, we took the train from Blankenberge.  This picture was taken from the train station looking toward the church were the shuttle dropped us.

In 2016 on our walk from the train station to the walled part of Brugge, we found a smaller gate that lead  us through a part of Brugge we'd not seen in 2004.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

I like Carnivals, but haven't been to one in ages. I think we need to seize the day, if we can, as we don't know what the future holds. Mmmm, pistachios, although expensive lately.

Great quote.

I love Indian food, but have never had this dish. I'll pass on the drink and wine.

I have been to Brussels on a land tour. My pics are pre-digital.

It's sunny but chilly today. Dry weather for the next 4 days, yay!

@rafinmd Welcome home. Thanks for the lists.

@Lady Hudson Prayers for your SIL.

@kazu Please be careful if you do any shoveling.

@Mr. Boston Bon Voyage! Have a great time.

@ger_77 That's a beautiful scarf, all the more significant now.

@Sea Viewer I'm glad your DH is doing well; so many rules and changes that Covid has caused. I hope he gets to come home today.

@aliaschief Hoping that you're starting to feel better. Take it easy for a while.

@smitty34877 Tana is blessed to have you there, but I'm sure it's hard for her to realize she can't be independent any longer. Hospice is a good thing, and most who work in that field are wonderful. Thank you for the smiles which cutie Miss Camilla brings to us!

@superoma I share your concern about all the quick relaxation of rules. I guess we can only look out for ourselves. Glad you were negative and that DGD and her BF are doing ok.

@StLouisCruisers I hate grocery shopping in the rain; probably a hangover from the days of paper bags. Prayers for Jen and DB as he processes all that is going on in his life.

@Norseh2o Bon Voyage tomorrow!

Prayers for the Care List and for Ukraine. Cheers to the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

Good morning from SW Florida, we're getting spoiled down here with another great day in the mid 80s.

Just returned home from a nice breakfast at a favorite local diner.

Pistachio nuts are one of my favorite nuts.

I hope Carnival day doesn't mean we have to book a cruise with Carnival, we sailed with them 1 time and it was a bad experience.

good to know as I am heading to Orlando airport tomorrow for a 3 night quick stay at Universal Orlando.  I had expiring air credit and needed to use.

I never like pistachio nuts when I was younger but i do like them now.

Oh and Carnival newer ships are really good.  Like Vista and now the newest Mardi Gras as well.

Very innovative and creative like RCI and NCL.

Good morning everyone and Happy Saturday!  I love pistachio’s and they make a nice appetizer too. Craig loves pistachio ice cream.  I’m sure he’ll have some pistachio gelato in Italy in June. 😉

Blue says it’s lunch time so I’ll be back later. Thank you everyone for sharing and posting pictures, especially Miss Camilla, what a sweetheart she is.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning and thanks all!   I like seizing the day, it is DS birthday so we hope it is warm enough for a picnic.  Love Bruges where we spent several days enjoying chocolate and Kriek and mussels.

@smitty34877 thanks for the lovely baby Camilla photos, it is so much fun to see how she is growing.  I am sending hugs and prayers for Tana and you,  so glad you are there for her and her son!

nature is helping keep us sane during this crazy period,  and we were very blessed to see some beautiful creatures yesterday.

Good morning again.  I'm finally caught up with the Daily.

My heart goes out to the people of Ukraine.  I saw this morning that the former president of Ukraine is leading a group of resistant fighters against the Russians.  @MISTER 67 I agree with you about Putin being evil, and he is a bully.  Yesterday, a Russian government spokesperson issued a veiled threat to Finland and Sweden if they joined NATO.  I hope the world does a better job standing up to Putin than they did against Hitler.

We have an interesting collection of days.  It's been a few years since we visited a carnival. We usually walk through the one at the Texas State Fair when we go.  The older (yuck) I get the more I realize we need to seize the day.  I enjoy pistachios, but not having to shell them.

I love today's quote by Lao Tzu.

We'll pass on the meal, drink and wine.

@kazu  Hope the cycle of storms is about over, and please be careful when outside.

@cat shepard  Ann, I loved the memes.  I think we can all relate to the one about the extended warranty.

@Lady Hudson  Sorry about your DSIL's heart problems, and sending good thoughts for her procedure.

@ger_77  Gerry, that is a beautiful scarf, and a great story behind it.  I had not thought about cooking hot dogs in the air fryer.  How long to you cook them, and at what temperature?

@Mr. Boston  Bon Voyage!  Have a great cruise.

@smitty34877  Terry, what a hard thing for Tana to know she cannot live independently, but hospice should be a big help.  It must also be hard for her to come to terms with renting or selling her house.  At least, she will be selling at a good time for getting a good price.  IMO, selling would relieve her and your family of having to deal with renters, upkeep and repairs.

@smitty34877  Terry, I don't see how it's possible, but Miss Camilla gets cuter by the day.  She looks like she is a happy baby.

@Sea Viewer  Glad you DH had a good night, and hope he gets to come home today.

@superoma  Eva, great news that you both did not get Covid.  Also, glad DGD and BF are better.  Glad you will be able to eat in a restaurant for your 52nd anniversary Monday.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, I hope Jen is doing better and is in rehab getting the help she needs.  Hope DB is better soon and has his problems solved.

@NextOne  That is good news about your DDIL improving.

I was preparing to go visit him this morning but was told my the nurse not to come at this time as they want to minimize visitors. They will let me know what time I can pick him up or if he's not discharged can visit later. So I'm having a relaxing time waiting for another phone call- NOT.

Oh dear - hopefully you don’t have too long of a wait.  It’s so hard not being able to visit.  Visitors are not allowed here other than DSP (I qualify as one) - so hard on so many - patients and their families 😢

Tana told me this morning that the doctor advised her to continue to stay with us as she cannot manage on her own. We had figured this out already but it had to be so hard to hear. She will either rent or sell her own home.

That must have been a hard pill for Tana to swallow 😔 She is so fortunate to have you to support her and her son.  ♥️

Thanks Lenda for your photos of Brugge.  On our second visit to Brugge we were on Prinsendam too (our last cruise on her May 2019).  We took the shuttle to Blankenberge as well, bought our tickets for the train to Brugge and then back again.  I'll try to add a few photos that are different from yours.

On May 8, 2015 our ship Royal Princess stopped in Zeebrugge, Belgium.  We took a tour from Princess and were driven to the town of Brugge.  We had heard a lot about it but it really was stunning.  I've described it as a fairy tale medieval town with beauty around every corner.  Our tour guide walked us from the parking lot to the edge of the old city.  Right away we saw sights like this.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLFUHskhnZ4k3RfkETer5bR?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1435194358

In 2011 on the Prinsendam, we took a tour to Ghent.  I'm glad we got to see the town, but it is not as picturesque as Brugge.  We were there on a Sunday, and there were not many shops open, so we had more free time to wander around the older part of town than we needed.  The tour included a boat ride on the canal that goes from Ghent to the Scheldt River.

These are a few of the pictures from the boat ride.

Since @richwmn Rich mentioned Brussels in today's destination, I'll include some pictures from our 2008 visit there.  This time we were on the Prinsendam and docked in Antwerp.  After an hour tour that morning of Antwerp on the Ho-Ho that did not have any stops, we took a tour to Brussels.  It was a good thing it was a ship's tour since we were late getting back to the ship.  The weather in Brussels went from bad to worse, with a heavy downpour as we were leaving town.  Our bus driver got lost, and we got to see more of the town that planned.

These first pictures are from the Brussels Expo site which was the place of the 1958 Expo.  The third one is the Atomium.

Brussel's famous statue.  It is very small and almost hidden, and could easily overlooked.

As you can see, it really started raining once we were back in the bus and supposedly heading to Antwerp.

Wishing you both a fabulous cruise tomorrow on Zuiderdam.

Graham.
