Ours last much longer than that. What's the difference on a cruise? Why is everyone stressing about towels, they are the least important bit of the nightly service, if ours can be re-used then I will already have hung them neatly on the rails to dry overnight. We normally leave any towels for changing during the morning service. We always shower before we leave the cabin in the evening, and as our bathroom is a wet room the shower area is wet, and also sometimes the floor, and I like that the bathroom is cleaned and dried during the evening service, otherwise they quickly start showing signs of mould. Finally I like that the steward removes the daytime bedding and stores it away, as well as drawing the curtains and leaving bedside lights on for our return. Its these little touches that help to make our cruise holidays special.

grapau27 Posted April 9, 2022 #129 Share Posted April 9, 2022 (edited) I read on another Carnival site(HAL) yesterday that basic onboard gratuities are going up on May 1st to $14.50 from $13.99 and Suite passengers $16.50 from $15.99. P&O gratuities as we all know are included in the price. Well done P&O. Edited April 9, 2022 by grapau27

I don't expect the sweets to return. General feedback was that they were not eaten and were a high risk touch point for transmission of germs. Regarding gratuities: I believe a lot of cruise lines have/are increased their gratuities recently heading into the summer season. The nightly turndown service will be back once ships return to full manning/stop Covid protocols. Their numbers are still slightly reduced/used in different functions at present. 3

Rare Megabear2 Posted April 9, 2022 #135 Share Posted April 9, 2022 (edited) Molecrochip, are P&O making a note of all these little things which clearly mean a lot to some of their passengers? If so perhaps they could use their social media channels more efficiently to acknowledge they know people are missing these things but reassure they'll be back as soon as circumstances allow. It is very much a case that other lines who are following the same protocols and problems but it seems able to offer the little treats and perks their guests like. I always rinse myself at the end of the shower so the towel is damp with water and a few skin fragments, oils and flora. The next day the worse that can happen is some of that oil and flora transfers back to where it belongs on my skin. Too many showers is bad for your skin so unless you strenuously exercise every couple of days or so should be OK which I do at home. On a cruise because of evening socialising I shower every day but alternate days it is just a rinse, no soap.

How many towels do you have in circulation, if you only use them once then put them to wash. Or do you only consider shower or bath towels need to be treated this way?🤔

lincslady Posted April 9, 2022 #143 Share Posted April 9, 2022 I can't imagine why anyone would only use a towel at home once, assuming that they do as most of us do, and have a small one for our face and hands, and a large one for the rest, which are only used on bits of you which are clean. Obviously, each pair of towels only used by one person. And you have rinsed shower gel, soap etc. off presumably before using them. I am lucky enough to have a large heated towel rail as the central heating in the bathroom, so they are always dry when you come back to them.

kalos Posted April 9, 2022 #146 Share Posted April 9, 2022 I don't know about you lot but when I step out of a shower/bath I am drying a clean body that I hope is a bit more hygienic than when I stepped in . Going on this logic if it were not true I would need to change my hand towel every time I washed my hands to stay hygienic Using a towel more than once will not kill you, possibly the Mrs would if I gave her 7-9 towels a week to wash 3

We use several towels to dry after a shower. One each for hands, a fresh towel for each foot and another for the body. We get dressed before we leave the shower cubicle, or at least the butler dresses us. He obviously wears gloves as he does when he squeezed the toothpaste out. Rare Selbourne Posted April 9, 2022 #149 Share Posted April 9, 2022 (edited) I am beginning to wonder how I have lived this long. I survived decades of doing things before they were all restricted due to ‘health and safety’. I picked up germs and developed some resistance before things such as ‘touch points’ were discovered. I have now discovered that I am at risk from our bath towels that we don’t change daily and, worst of all, I have discovered on another thread that my preference for beer at room temperature (not chilled) is a really bad thing. The problem with all of this is that all these things will just make us live a few years longer but, as Billy Connelly used to say, these won’t be years when you are 35 doing all sorts of exciting things (he actually said something else 😂) , they will be years when we are sat in a chair dribbling and smelling of wee 😂 Edited April 9, 2022 by Selbourne 3

Without wishing to be in any way indelicate, how exactly are you using your towels, and where did you pick up that information? In a hospital setting, or if anyone has open wounds, maybe, but ordinarily?
