Port taxes and fees? "Mandatory" gratuities? Drink package? Bundle of extras? Internet access? Specialty dining? Airfare? Shuttle to/from the port? Are you a gambler? And what cruise lineis this? The more that's included, the more impressed I'll be.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted February 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2023 As a solo, I'm impressed even if nothing is included. Generally we get charged 200%, so I'm used to paying a minimum of $200/night just for an inside cabin with no extras.

Are you sailing in a balcony for that amount?
jsn55 Posted February 2, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2023 The quality of the cruiseline will determine how good this is.
Rare Mary229 Posted February 2, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2023 If cheap is what mattered then you found it. When, where and which line?
9tee2Sea Posted February 2, 2023 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2023 doesn't matter if the cruise was cheap enough. That is the value you put on it, so it is good enough for you.
navybankerteacher Posted February 2, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2023 $484 total - for a single is extremely (almost unbelievably) low for 7 days — unless there is an unmentioned gimmick - such as a known casino high-spender being subsidized.
ldubs Posted February 2, 2023 #9 Share Posted February 2, 2023 In the old days, we thought anything under $100/pp/day was a pretty good deal. So yeah, that is bargain price for a 7 day cruise, IMO. For a solo cruiser, that seems like a terrific deal. Since COVID, everything seems topsy turvy. Time will tell if our old $100/day test is still reasonable.

There's a big difference between an interior guarantee and a "deluxe" verandah (OP, I very much doubt you got a suite for what you were charged unless you're a known gambler). crusingrightnow Posted February 2, 2023 Author #14 Share Posted February 2, 2023 Price was with taxes and port fees! Yes it was a inside room but I did not care.

davecttr Posted February 3, 2023 #16 Share Posted February 3, 2023 It happens over here as well. I have a 7 night cruise on P&O Iona and decided on an inside as balconies have limited use IMO in the North Sea in February. Received a free upgrade to an Ocean view yesterday and those cabins are larger than a standard balcony. Cost £502 plus £150 OBC including shareholder benefit for which I have already had more OBC than the cost of the shares. I will spend the OBC on speciality restaurants and drinks.
gerryuk Posted February 3, 2023 #17 Share Posted February 3, 2023 Costa Toscana 22 nights Barcelona to Dubai in November £1.156 sterling, inside solo price. There are deals out there, not many, but they are there.
Toofarfromthesea Posted February 3, 2023 #18 Share Posted February 3, 2023 Yes it is, objectively cheap. Whether it is good value is a whole different question.

crzndeb Posted February 4, 2023 #20 Share Posted February 4, 2023 Since your post left out details, it’s hard to say. You didn’t say what ship or itinerary. On paper it’s a good price, but as a solo traveler, cheap doesn’t equate to good.
George C Posted February 4, 2023 #21 Share Posted February 4, 2023 You get a great deal, enjoy your cruise . When I started cruising almost 50 years ago the cheapest I ever paid for a 7 day single was 600.

For some just starting out cruising, and not really caring about ship or itinerary, it’s a great value. Lots of deals out there on old ships to the Bahamas and Caribbean. If you were in a badly maintained ship, with a dirty cabin, on an itinerary which only had a tender call at Freeport and the tenders were cancelled due to heavy weather, and the food was poorly prepared low quality sloppily served swill - it might be said that you would not have received “good value” even you had only paid $25 for the week. Low price does not automatically mean good value.
