cdn.cruiser Posted January 26 #1 Share Posted January 26 Someone on a different board said that ships have a drink card available for $99. good for 10 alcoholic drinks. This is suppose to be available on the first day. It is a drink card that gets punched after each drink. Has anyone heard of this? Is it true? Thank you.

JeffT237 Posted January 26 #3 Share Posted January 26 Our last Royal Caribbean cruise was last March on the Wonder and did not see the card offered. Pre pandemic we saw it all the time, usually it was offered mid cruise, we never saw it on the first day. Not sure if it was phased out.

Billy Baltic Posted January 27 #5 Share Posted January 27 It was on Explorer in the med in August. I think it was priced around $95-$96 and was definitely towards the end of the week. My understanding was that the 10 drink card would appear if drinks sales had been sluggish but that could be rubbish.
zaylyn2590 Posted January 27 #6 Share Posted January 27 I was on the vision during the holiday cruise and it was offered. One of the waitstaff told me about it on maybe the 2nd day of the 8 day cruise but wasnt available to purchase until the last 3 days.

Yes, in past used only later in a Cruise to make up low Liquor Sales to help meet that Sailings quota. Many times was with only 2-3 days left Edited January 27 by ONECRUISER
Cheesepleese Posted January 27 #8 Share Posted January 27 We had the 10 punch drink card on the Brillance back in 2017(about 6 years ago). It was a 12 night cruise in the Mediterrean. The card was available for purchase on the second day of the cruise for $75 plus gratuities. From what I am reading on this thread, it seems they are only making it available towards the end of the cruise instead of one or two days after embarkation if they are making them available at all. With Mrs. Cheesepleese and I enjoying a drink not necessarily every day it made sense to get a drink card to spread out over most of the length of the cruise. We are not big drinkers so a drink package would be a waste of money for us. If they are only making it available with a couple to three days left, I have to wonder for ourselves if it makes sense then to purchase it if you have to knock them back in that short of time frame. Just my thoughts, cheers!
deliver42 Posted January 27 #9 Share Posted January 27 We did that several years ago on a 10 day Serenade cruise. I think there were 3 days left in the cruise when it became available.

Yes, you're right, I forgot to mention that you can share it like the coffee card. We did share it on the Med cruise. Thanks for mentioning this. Cheers!

Rare livingonthebeach Posted January 27 #14 Share Posted January 27 On the rare times I've seen the drink punch card, it has been towards the end of a cruise. Haven't seen it advertised in a while. As mentioned previously, the best bet is to ask for it.

I've heard of these cards here -- but have never seen then offered. Has anyone been successful in asking to buy a card? If so, how long ago? Hoopster95 Posted January 27 #16 Share Posted January 27 Late Nov 2023 - Oasis, available and advertised at the bar on day 5 of 7 night sailing Early December 2023 - Odyssey, available and advertised at the bar on day 4 of 6 night sailing These were both the first times I had seen it advertised since the pandemic 2

moesyk4 Posted January 28 #18 Share Posted January 28 Independence offered it the second to last day on our November 2023 cruise. They had signs as some bars around the pools.
pghflyer Posted July 6 #19 Share Posted July 6 Vision of the Seas advertised these in the daily flyer and at all bars on Day 8 and Day 9 of our 9 day cruise. $99 each ($117 after gratuity) for 10-drink shareable punch card that could be used on any beverage $14 or lower. Took a picture since I had never heard of it before.

smokeybandit Posted July 6 #21 Share Posted July 6 When those cards come out, it can only mean alcohol sales on that cruise are below some threshold of profitability.
pghflyer Posted July 6 #22 Share Posted July 6 (edited) I would guess that is probably true (the cards have a 2015 date on them ha ha), but maybe just looking to juice sales on two consecutive sea days. We just got off the cruise, so this was like 2 days ago. Drinks of the day were $11, and the best bargain on beer was still the $9.50 Foster's Oil Can (25 oz, so 2 beers), which C&A members can use their 50% off coupons on too. I always find the $14 Rum Punch to be the best bargain beach drink, as they put 3 full (decent name brand) shots in each glass (Captain Morgan, Bacardi, and Kraken). Still wish RCL offered all inclusive packages covering specialty-dining/wifi/drinks/excursion allowance similar to NCL/ Celebrity/ Princess/ Holland....but they seem to not be going that way. On the plus side, it usually means the bars are not near as busy as those lines where everyone is getting their drink on. Cheers. There was once a wifi/soda package combo, but even that has disappeared. 😄
PhillyFan33579 Posted July 7 #24 Share Posted July 7 They were available for sale on days 5 and 6 of a 7 day cruise when I was on Radiance last month. First time I saw them in at least a year.
Aaron3 Posted July 7 #25 Share Posted July 7 On anthem 2 night from Southampton they had it on day 2 - I assume trying to sell as much as possible to anyone without a package If we knew they had them earlier in the day we'd probably have shared one (only saw about 5.30pm). As we didn't we just bought 2 drinks each If it was a standard for the past 2 or 3 days we'd probably splurge at thr end. Never bought alcohol package as with children we'd never drink enough
