Thank you for today’s FR&D, Rich! It was a lovely morning for a walk and I got to see this morning’s launch travel along the Coast before it headed UP! Fascinating, no matter how many I see.

Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with all of us! Hope you are feeling better.

Today Bindi heads off to day camp at Pet Paradise, and I head North to tour a Continuous Care Community in Jacksonville. My good friend Jan and another woman we work out with are going together. The other woman has a good friend who lives there, so we will not only get the official tour, but also a current resident’s perspective.

I am not ready to commit to anything, but I am starting to think about it. My niece & nephew will have enough to worry about with their Mom, so I want see what is out there. We have several in the Ormond Beach area, too. But Jacksonville has two huge things in its favor: an International Airport and a Mayo Clinic. I have my list of questions ready, and with three sets of eyes & ears we can compare notes afterwards.

Prayers for all who need our support. Tana & Terry, praying that you both have a good, uneventful day.

Chuck & Annie, hope the two of you have a pain free, uneventful day.

Joy, praying for Bonnie, you & your entire family.

Cheers to all who are celebrating! This means you, Rich!

May we each find a reason to smile today.

Jermann-Pinot-Grigio 2022

I used the 2022 vintage info, since it should be ready to enjoy now, and is still fairly easy to find. This is not my “go to” white wine. Lately I have gravitated to white blends. But I would definitely try this wine, and who knows - I might really enjoy it. Online prices start at $20.99.

Winemaker Notes

Pinot Grigio from Pinot Grigio grapes, fermented as a white wine. It has an intense straw-yellow color; its aroma is intense, full and fruity, with excellent persistence. Its taste is dry, velvety, fragrant and persistent.

To be paired with fish soups, chargrilled seafood and various dishes based on field mushrooms and porcini mushrooms. This wine is wonderful with squid ink lasagnette pasta and crayfish sauce.

  • 92Wine Enthusiast

This classic Pinot Grigio’s aromas flow out of the glass showing fresh orchard notes, white flowers, lemon drop candy and crushed stone. It’s lively on the palate with the sprightly levity of lemon zest, green apple skin, wild green herbs and a zip of acidity.

  • 91James Suckling

Really fresh and pure on the nose with typical sliced apple and lime zest characters. Chalk and a hint of white fruit, too. Crisp and refreshing on the palate with bright, zingy acidity and a limey, nervy finish.

Happy Monday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports.

Sunny and around 82 today. Much cooler that it has been. Fancy is going to the vet to get her nails trimmed and anal glands done. The we will be going to the park as she deserves it. She has been uncomfortable for the past couple of days. Finishing one class today and will be grading another class full of assignments. It never ends. Yesterday I spent the morning pulling weeds from the from bed. I let it go a little too long. Now I am sore. Oh well.

Happy birthday to @richwmn and to @luvteaching mom.

I am happy to be able to share some pictures of Castro, Isla Chiloe, Chile from the Oosterdam on February 17th.  First thing in the morning, there was a knock on my door.IMG_9970.thumb.jpeg.56a1acd19a2fdfe5793a16e064d4171f.jpeg

We enjoyed the view as we sat on the balcony and drank our coffee.IMG_9967.thumb.jpeg.eab432bea298d4f3af32870f4b1d1f74.jpegWe had met a lovely Australian couple and decided to explore the city with them.  Luckily, she had planned our route to avoid as many hills as possible. Our destination was the church that was built without nails.

The woodwork inside was gorgeous.IMG_9978.thumb.jpeg.9ddcb1060640f49b01299930a54aff65.jpeg

We walked down the hill to the

Mercadito De Chiloe, a lovely restaurant with a view of the harbor for a seafood lunch.  I had the octopus.IMG_0814.jpeg.82622068c0d58bbdb2cab3883cfb9d94.jpeg

We shared a nice bottle of wine (well maybe two). IMG_9985.thumb.jpeg.65e1151e6943e8ce5d7af23f2c8f6679.jpeg

Castro is also known for its palafitos or stilt houses.  My friend waded into the harbor to get this shot.IMG_3245.thumb.jpeg.1bf90d03804dc80c5c11f8aa0c6ce98b.jpeg

Castro was a replacement port so I hadn’t done any research prior to our cruise.  Luckily, serendipity won.  We had a wonderful day exploring without a plan.

Good morning, everyone!

It is cold out this morning.  It is only 50F and the house is kind of chilly, but hopefully that means it won't get too hot this afternoon.  First thing this morning I have to call a plumber.  The downstairs toilet is not working properly.  We suspect a certain someone may have flushed something that shouldn't have been flushed.  If we spend an hour plunging we can get it to work, but if the upstairs toilet is flushed the downstairs one starts gurgling and the water bubbles up and then we have to start plunging all over.

It is always something, isn't it?

@luvteaching  Happy Birthday to your DM!

@Haljo1935 Bon Voyage!  I hope your cruise is delightful.

@Seasick Sailor Holding your sister close and sending healing thoughts.

Today's meal sounds good to me!  I'll gladly try the scampi with zoodles.  Shrimp Scampi with Zucchini Noodles

This version sounds pretty good, too!  Healthy Shrimp Scampi

The sauce in this one is slightly different, but the outcome looks delicious!   Shrimp Scampi with Zoodles

shrimpscampwithzucchininoodles3.thumb.jpg.da012b0cbd2e3ca914f3cb781100e3bd.jpg

If you don't like Zoodles, you can always just use regular noodles.  In all three recipes the sauce has been adjusted for lower fat and calories.

Wishing you all a wonderful day.  I'm off to call the plumber.

Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.  Happy birthday @richwmn and thanks for compiling and delivering our news each day!

It looks like it will be a pleasant day here in the Twin Cities area.

I remember the milkman delivering the milk from the Twin Pines Dairy when I was a kid in Sterling Heights, MI.  I also remember Milky, the clown spokesperson.

I like the funny quote from Groucho.

Both the meal and drink suggestions sound good for a nice summer day.

I have not been to today’s port.

Prayers for those on today’s prayer list.  Cheers to those who are celebrating heppy events!

We visited today’s port, Castro, Chile, in 2018 while on the Zaandam.  Although it normally rains here almost every day, we experienced great weather.  Our excursion involved visiting four UNESCO recognized churches.  The oldest was built in 1730 and is the oldest wooden church in Chile.  The newest was built in the early 1900’s and its beautiful internal woodwork was constructed by boatbuilders.  We also stopped at a seaside cafe for a light snack and listened to a local band playing traditional Chilean music while some people danced.

Good morning from a mostly sunny central Texas.  There is a 6 mph wind from the SSE which should help it feel a bit better out.  It is 78F at 7:30am, but feels like 85F with 90% humidity and a dew point of 75F.  This is our last non triple digit day with a predicted high of 99F, but I'm pretty such the feels like temperature will be in the triple digits.  So besides laundry, I'll be trying to keep cool again today.

The youth today should be nurtured as the become the leaders of the future.  DH is the middle brother.  I remember the milkman delivering milk when I was growing up.

Like  others, I still laugh at the Groucho Marx's quote whenever I see it.

The meal sounds good, but tonight we'll be having the salmon (me) and cod (DH) we didn't have a couple of nights ago.  I'll pass on the drink, but would try the wine.

We have not been to Castro, Chile.

The invention of the sewing machine was a time saver for people.  Henry Ford's introduction of the Model T made car ownership easier for many.  When DH bought his first IBM personal computer, I inherited his Radio Shack Model II computer.  Computers have certainly come a long way since 1981.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, I'm glad your DS made it to Frisco safely, and I hope the storms in Oklahoma didn't cause any delays for Ren and DDIL.  Thanks for the pictures from Castro.  The stilt houses are interesting.

@MISTER 67  Welcome, home.  I'm glad you had a nice cruise, but I agree about too many passengers on ships now days.  Our first cruise in 1987 on Costa Daphne which held 530 passengers.  The biggest ship we've sailed on holds 3600 passengers, which is okay if the itinerary is right.

@0106  Tina, thank you for sharing your day in Castro.

@dfish  Debbie, I hope you can get the plumber there soon.

@Mtn2Sea  Robert, thanks for you pictures, too.  I love the woodwork in the ceilings of the churches.

🎂Happy birthday Rich! Many thanks for your dedication.

Karen, Happy Birthday to your dear mom!  🎉

🛳️ Bon Voyage Elizabeth! Time for renewal!

🙏Prayers for Bonnie!

We’re still in Boston!  Will depart 5:00pm, hopefully. Bunkering by TRUCKs! New itinerary. One port dropped, Sydney. But it’s all good!  Ahhh!  Hard to have a bad day on a cruise ship!

Last night we enjoyed our late dinner, I did have to take a nap first though. DH began scouting music venues. I found him in the strings lounge.  Lots of music options!  Wonderful hours for eating. It’s been a long time since we were on Princess. Now I’m remembering many of their good points.  Emerald Princess feels large but not overwhelming. Very glad to be here. It’s really quite Amazing!  Thank you all for your support!

Blessings to all in need, Annie and Chuck, Ann and Pat, more for Bonnie and family and her care team!  And the special needs going in for lindler

And our country and yours!
Cheers for all the joyful celebrations 🥂

Life is Good🌈 One day at a time is Everything

Maureen

@cat shepard Ann, we moved to independent living in an Erickson Senior Living continuing care facility. There are many in the country.  We looked at about 25 places within a 90 min radius of the granddaughter who wanted us closer so she could be oversight contact. No regrets, a lot of adapting. DH and I are 12 yrs apart so it’s a bit awkward. But I’m very grateful we each will have an easier time as needs arise. It’s important to make the change while you can but it’s not an easy call. We each had moms in similar types of residences so we understood the progressions that we might face. We are data gatherers. We did a lot of exploring before we made a choice. Wishing you good learning!  m—

Good morning Dailyites

Wow, thank you for all these beautiful pictures posted.

Thank you for the prayers. They are truly needed right now. I went to Vanessa's care list and made sure I prayed for each individual.

So, like Debbie @dfish I too have a guest toilet that isn't flushing properly. I noticed it after Oliver's party. Hmmm. But since a plumber will be here today anyway.. at the party a wine glass was dropped in the sink on the disposal side. Picked up what I could, reset the disposal switch.. nada.

I will try Debbie's shrimp dishes. All look great! Thank you to our outstanding F and B ladies, and a big thank you to our Birthday Guy today. Rich, I really love your new format on the fleet report!

Wishing you all a great day. Blessings!!

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  Hurray for youth, middle kids and milkmen (delivery people).  And 3 cheers as well for Mr. Singer, Mr. Ford's company and whoever decided it would be a good idea for personal computers; where would we be without them?

It's a clear, sunny day out there for us this morning, with a temperature of 13(55), going up to a warm 29(84).  The one thing DH and I noticed yesterday was the difference in colour of the sun in the late afternoon and evening.  It's taken on more of an orange tone which of course signals that fall is soon going to be coming.  It's always a melancholy time for us, as it means our days spent in the yard and evenings on the deck will be coming to an end.  Oh the other hand, we don't have earthquakes, tsunamis, or hurricanes, so we have to be grateful for what we have.

@richwmnHappy Birthday to you!  Wishing you a wonderful day with many happy, healthy returns of the day.

@Seasick Sailorsending prayers for your DS Bonnie.

@Haljo1935Bon Voyage; enjoy your cruise!

@luvteachingwishing your DM a very Happy 98th birthday!

Had a rather upsetting phone call yesterday from a dear cruising friend in North Carolina.  They'd just returned home from a short trip away and it appeared he'd come down with a GI bug of sorts (they thought it was food poisoning); it continued to get worse and his wife tested him for Covid, which turned out positive.  Two days later he collapsed and is currently in the hospital where his condition is listed as "stable".   The hospital said it wasn't the first case they'd had where Covid first showed up as a GI thing.  Scary!!

I'm saying yes to the drink (have them often on BHB's), will let others have the white wine, and maybe if I peeled the zucchini, I could get the zoodles into DH - he doesn't care for the "z" veggie.  We love scampi, so whether it's made with noodles or an alternate, I'm sure it's good.  For dinner we're going to have panko crumbed salmon, garlic roast potatoes and green beans (courtesy DH's DS) on our deck tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, in pain, in grief, in turmoil, in wars not of their making, and in the path of destructive storms and fires.  Cheers to all who have something to celebrate today.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann and Dixie for the FR&D     Three interesting days to celebrate although I was never a middle child..    Special prayers fo  Bonnie,  Terri, Katherine’s friend, Sandi’s brother, Scottie,  Chuck, Annie and Tana with  Annie and Chuck at the top of the list...Bon Voyage Haljo1935.  Happy Birthday Rich.

The quote sure sounds like Groucho.

I visited Castro in 2019 on MS Prinsendam.

Three great days in industrial history,

I’ll pass on the meal.  .My alternative is Chilled Red Grape and Cranberry Soup with Orange-Ginger Pork as served on MS Prinsendam August 12, 2011.

A very pleasant day here.  I have almost continuous zoom meetings from 4 to 7 so I took my walk and grocery run early and am home the rest of the day.

Good morning. Get this posted before we loose internet or power. New fiber optic cable is being installed in neighborhood and I have four workers digging holes in front of house between easement and sidewalk. There have been many complaints of gas lines, electric, internet lines being damaged. What they don’t flag and mark is our sprinkler heads and pipes for our yard irrigation. No matter before the days out I will have at least four areas in yard with dirt spots and no grass. Cox Cable now has competition with this new company offering cheaper service.

It’s Monday so laundry day and some day this week we are going to the polls to early vote.

@richwmnHappy Birthday!

@Haljo1935Bon Voyage

I remember milk being delivered to house and in my early years it was delivered by horse and wagon. Yup! Old as dirt.

Have a great week folks and thanks for reports and post. Bruce

Good morning from sunny and cool Durango. Current temp is 58F with a predicted high today of 81. We had a rain again early this morning accompanied by thunder and lightning. Little Monty dog was burrowed under the covers and shaking. Oddly enough, the thunder only seems to bother him when he is inside. Outside when it rumbles, he just ignores it. Storms are possible again tonight.

Happy Birthday @richwmn.

The scampi looks good but tonight will be a slice of ham and a salad. Clearing out the fridge again.

Today is going to be taken up with lots of odds and ends of errands - some in person and some by phone. I have a little list.

Best wishes for a good day to all.

Susan
