"Left Over" Elite coupons?

I have a number of coupons from previous sailings. I am reading that with Elite Plus your benefits are "loaded" onto your sea pass card? Does that mean no more coupons (eg for laundry, Persian Garden on port day etc)? Are old coupons still viable? Thanks for your help! LuAnn

Technically the coupons are only valid for the one cruise you are on and receive them for. Several posts have talked about selling them, giving them away, etc. When we were on the Reflection in December, we talked extensively to Ti-Ann the CC Hostess. When the coupons are used they are actually validated. if someone uses them that is not entitled to the benefit, they are called and questioned. So the answer to your question is technically they are no longer viable,

That being said, as mentioned, any people play the system. I just would not like to be caught. Too embarrassing.

Forget about the happy hour vouchers - they are a different color and different date for each event. Anybody who buys them is wasting their money.

Celebrity should have some control over Elite coupons since you have to put your name and stateroom number on the back. If you turn in an internet coupon for the free 90 minutes, they should be able to tell if you are elite or not to credit the cost of the minutes back to your account.

I always throw away unused Elite coupons at the end of a cruise, and while I remember a statement printed on the reverse to the effect that the coupons are not transferrable, I also think that I remember a statement to the effect that they are only valid for the cruise on which they were issued.

On the Equinox TA in April 2013 we were issued vouchers instead of the "traditional" Elite cocktail gathering. While the happy hour vouchers had the specific day and time period (ie 5PM to 7 PM) for which they were valid printed on them, the vouchers on that cruise were always the same color -- white.

I have just noticed that the cruise before ours is giving coupons instead of the daly cocktail party. Such a shame as we loved meeting up with people over a drink and snacks for an hour or so before dinner.

Another cruiser has scanned the page and it would appear that you can not use them for Michaels Bar, the Martini Bar, the molecular bar or dining rooms. So where can you use them? just a busy bustling main bar?

I assume that you can then walk around the ship and take them into any bar you wish??

Thanks to you all with the experience

I seem to remember a post somewhere that indicated people being able to use their vouchers in the Martini bar on certain ships/cruises, but I wouldn't bank on that.

I've successfully given my unused coupons away or used them on subsequent trips.

I suppose some are subject to more scrutiny than others are, such as Internet where you pay then it comes off your bill once they verify the coupon.

But the laundry, no one seems to care, I used coupons from several cruises in all 3 colors, grey, gold and blue, and no issue.

I gave 7 of my $5 matchplay coupons (saved from multiple trips) away this cruise to a friend 1st time on X (i.e. not yet signed up for captain's club so no status) and they took them.

Gelato seem to go however you use them as well.

Coupons are treated differently depending on the ship, the cruise and perhaps the phase of the moon....welcome to celebrity!

With the exception of the internet coupon, we have never filled in the back of any coupon with name/stateroom....and we've never had a problem. I doubt there is someone in the laundry checking if you've used your allotted coupons....or using your kid's coupons. I've never been asked to even show my room card using an elite drink coupon...if you have a coupon, they give you a drink. (they do check the date). I don't think the somellier's even have a way to know that you've already used your two coupons for wine discounts so you can't use a third one....and so on. Certainly there's no tracking in the casino.

we have used drink coupons at the martini bar (they do have smaller glasses so the drink is under the $8 limit). Have never tried to use them in michaels club, but that's moot now that michaels is zenith only until 7pm. Molecular bar drinks are over the limit for coupons and if I want a glass of wine in the dining room on a cruise with coupons, I get a glass at the nearest bar and take it in with me (doesn't work if they aren't using coupons).

I think the risk is minimal, but we've always used the coupons we want...and just throw away those we don't want. Yes, I've seen coupons being sold on EB..Y, but none there now.

... Are old coupons still viable? Thanks for your help!... LuAnn

The sheet that the coupons are printed clearly states that they are only good for the current sailing. It also says that on they are non-transferrable. So no, old coupons are not viable, except maybe to those who "play" the system, & want to see what they can get away with.

Since my wife probably has one drink on some days, none on others, we often have a few coupons left. I give them to the servers--I do believe they get some credit at the end of the day. But, only if they are coupons for that day-- in other words, they may bring a drink and take an invalid coupon, but they will get no credit for the delivery.

And we haven't found anyone willing to trade drink coupons for spa discount coupons!

For the first time we had a server shakedown on our present cruise. The server has been re-assigned.

We have Zenith drink package, our friends the classic. Despite not having to show coupons in the lounge the server said he wanted both our coupons (Zenith don't get them) and theirs as well as charging us for the drinks that are included in our package.

Servers do not get paid by the coupon and passengers and severs are scamming the system by submitting them without getting the drinks associated with a coupon. If you wish to tip the waiter do so and keep the unused coupons in your pocket if you don't consume.

If servers don't get paid by the coupon, why do they want them? I'd rather give the extra tickets to a server than throw them out.

As for the Elite coupons, family and friends regularly save their match play coupons for us and we use ours and theirs. We also bring along old coupons in case we need them such as laundry or dry cleaning. When we cruised with our four year old, we definitely needed more than 2 laundry bag coupons per week so they came in handy.

LuAnn, This is Wayne writing...Agree that the DRINK coupons are only good for the day printed. However the other coupons, ..laundry, pressing, etc can be used on any sailing. We just finished a b2b2b, and used coupons on the first sailing on the third leg without questions.

I'm not sure I understand this, if servers do not get paid by the coupon how are they scamming the system by asking for them.

Also, not sure what you mean by 'server shakedown' - do you mean that you had the server re-assigned?

Passengers do not re-assign staff… management does that. We have never witnessed a server demanding vouchers when one's key card shows clearly that the passenger has a beverage package.

The server said that he would accept our order using our drinks package but wanted our coupons the next day.

His response was that he gets paid more for the coupon than the 15% gratuity on a premium drink…

The mere fact that he made it clear we had to submit a voucher as well as charging our card in the belief that he would get paid twice was an indication he needed a little more training. We reported his conversation and the next day he was elsewhere.

We were told by those higher up the food chain that they were not compensated by the coupons but only by the time served and gratuities..
