It worked for me when I tried it again.

Worked for me too! As you said, nothing to see on the app yet, just the schedule for an event and directions.

I really hope this 11/7 announcement isn't just about this app. That would very disappointing. They should give out free cruises to everyone. THAT was be a good announcement! :')

Don't get me wrong...I love technology. I used the Royal IQ app daily when aboard Anthem. But I was hoping this announcement would be about a new ship, added ships to Bayonne, new itineraries, better drink packages (or more discounts), etc...

I don't think so, as RCL announced some months ago that the latest Q class(Spectrum?) with its latest technology, would be destined for Asia to join the other Q ships. There was too much criticism from Paxs to the Quantum--from the lack of Royal Promenade, DD, etc. Also, remember, Quantum has been refitted by decreasing the Music Hall and converting into an extension of the casino to suit the Chinese market.

 

Being on the Quantum, I can assure you the Quantum did not refit the Music Hall, or make any changes to it. The Casino had many slots removed, and more table games, but it is in the same area. The only other change was Johnny Rockets, and I'm sure it won't take much to change it back.

I suspect the new/improved app will be considered the "front door" to new things within the cruise experience. They typically announce new destinations, ships, etc. separately.

And the speculation about having a Quantum class ship in Alaska is also correct. Our April 2019 TP on Explorer was just cancelled and one of the options offered in the email is to book the TP on Ovation in 2019.
