On Serenade right now and reduced deposit isn't available for the longer Serenade cruises.

Curious about the cutoff for longer cruises. Did they give you anything in writing with the new rules?

Says it starts Dec 9th.

I am on Allure right now, and was hoping to take advantage of this tomorrow, which is the 9th. When I asked at Next Cruise, was told that it won’t start until the beginning of next week’s cruise, which is Sunday, the 10th.

I am tempted to go ahead and reserve next December on Symphony. Afraid that they might lower the deposit and raise the cruise fare.

Reduced deposit has not started yet

Sorry, got excited should have read all. Been on ship for couple weeks middle of B2B2B and haven't been on Cruise Critic until today. Even missed out on my corner aft for Serenade BOS/FLL for 2019, though had it last 2 yrs and will in 2018 as a B2B2B at cost of many late nites...

If you go with the REFUNDABLE deposit, do you still get OBC?

If so, what is the breakdown?

I wish they would tell us if the Mariner is getting a SL. If so, I'm going to cancel 9 deposits which will free up money for the $250 deposit.

It's more work to book on board when you go through Casino Royale.

If there is no OBC for refundable deposits, there is no point booking on board.

Like Bob said, I typically will book a couple or three and as my schedule changes I move my cruises around. As a NRD it still might be worth one or I wait and watch for deals and be a little less picky.

Do you take all of them?

And again, you still have to pay for them. And we are not talking about 50% deposits, we are talking about a few hundred more.

But it makes you happy, great.

Apparently RC is going to allow reduced deposits of $100pp for booking onbiard again, but only if booking non-refundable rates.

Yes that's correct, we were just on Independence and tried to get the $100 deposit each but were told it doesn't start till this weekend and only for non-refundable deposits.

Now if they would allow changes to ship and sailing date without losing any deposit, I'd be at the Next Cruise desk again.

Wow...and I thought the downgrading of the old original Next Cruise Certificates was bad. :(

I miss those...and used to hoard them up...but have long since used them up. Drats. :o

I still don't get it.

Right now, you can book through 2019, so if you are going to take those cruises, you will have to pay the balances in the next 18 months.

And since the reduced deposits are ONLY for NRD, you pretty much have to take the cruise, or lose your deposit.

It seems to me, way too many people book 5 - 10 cruises, expecting to take 1 or 2, to be determined later.

But that screws up other people (holding desirable rooms that will not be used), the cruise line (inaccurate long term planning), and again other people with higher fares (fuller the ship, the less likely sales or low prices, basic capacity control).

Although $100 deposits for NRD is actually easier for RCI. You change, you lose the deposit, and they do not have to mess around with a FCC for that over $100. :D

That describes us. We currently have 5 cruises booked and will book more on our January 28, 2018 OA cruise. Time value of money.

Wow...that's surprising that I have you beat on booked cruises...;)

Which one/ones are you booking next month? Hope we get to cruise together again...and actually SEE each other this time. :o

All packed and headed to Tampa in the morning for 7 night Brilliance. :D

I have seven booked and plan on taking every one of them. I only book cruises I know I am going to actually be on. The only thing that would change is a drastic emergency to keep us from going, then it would be losing the whole thing since it would be past final payment.

So not all of us follow into your scenario.

So Royal is "Introducing" $100 deposits? What's next, "testing" making everyone in a cabin get the drink packages? Royal is starting to remind me of the Fortune 50 company I work for that has its headquarters a 1000 miles away and keeps sending in new management teams every 2 years to reserve what the last team did.

Emailing you what we've booked and what we might be looking at. Interested to see the BR is like -- there were some negative reviews.

Agree about actually spending time together!!!

Have no complaints about Brilliance so far with day three on board. Food good, cabin nice. Not impressed with the DL which has taken over the entire VCL due to numbers, and have tried twice to get service in there with no luck.

Now for the really bad news...and not Royal's fault. First night, I managed to catch my heel on the edge of the carpet, went total "splat" in the CL and twisted my foot really badly. Upon Xray in the morning...sure enough broke my foot. Am spending the rest of the cruise in a wheel chair and a cast. Not a good way to start a cruise! :o:(

On another note...the medical team and was fabulous! Very nice and helpful crew.

Oh no! I wish you a quick recovery!

I saw a few posts mention the 24 hour hold is back as well as the reduced deposits at NextCruise.

Oh Pat -- how awful! How long do you have to be in the cast? I'm so sorry,
