need2cruisesoon Posted March 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Seems like live music whether by piano or dueling acoustic guitars would make dining a little more palatable, no? Maybe DaVinci dining room now Pavarotti (music) dining room? Sent from my iPad using Forums

toeloop Posted March 11, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2018 No. I like to hear the person I am speaking with. In addition, I would not want to be forced to listen to music that I might not enjoy. I would detract from the enjoyment of my dinner.

Pam in CA Posted March 11, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2018 No. I’ve been on other lines and for the most part, felt music, waitstaff singing, etc. was loud, disruptive and/or tacky. On one line, there was piano music that was almost 100% ignored. I felt badly for the pianist as they were mostly not appreciated.

XBGuy Posted March 11, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 11, 2018 I love music. I'm reasonably confident, however, that you do not enjoy the music that I love. Similarly, I'm pretty sure that I do not enjoy, in the least, the music that you like. My vote is no music in the dining venues. Fun question, though. Thanks. Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted March 11, 2018 #17 Share Posted March 11, 2018 No. Although live piano would be lovely in the MDRs they are a bit too big for it to work effectively, and all it would do is increase the noise level as people would feel they needed to speak louder to converse over the top of the music. satxdiver Posted March 11, 2018 #20 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Appears as though so far the no vote is the result. I too would like to add my no vote.
Rare 4cats4me Posted March 11, 2018 #21 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Yes. On Celebrity they used to have a three-piece in the main restaurant. So pleasant to listen to. Would much rather listen to music than people.
pris993 Posted March 11, 2018 #22 Share Posted March 11, 2018 I could see a piano, perhaps, in the main dining room. Back in the olden days, a pianist playing suitable dining music could really set the mood. I don't know if I'd want strolling minstrels. I always feel uncomfortable when they stop at my table. I agree with you... HAL use to have it, miss it. Never that loud, just what you would like.
Rare geoherb Posted March 11, 2018 #23 Share Posted March 11, 2018 I remember classical musicians playing at afternoon tea. It was nice and not obtrusive. It could have been on one of our HAL cruises.

NoWhiners Posted March 11, 2018 #25 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Please, no. It's enough that we get blasted by the pool and there are no quiet places nearby. Let the MDR remain peaceful and (sort of) quiet. You know, except for all the people :D
