Thanks. VT will have a better assessment. I can only reply about today and it has been cool but that is do to today’s weather being unseasonably cold and windy, I think. Just came back from the Martini Bar/Grand Plaza and it was very comfortable. Off to dinner soon and I’ll let you know what the dining room was like. Rare Host Anne Posted November 28, 2018 #378 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Marilyn ~ I was so sorry to come back to this thread tonight and read about your injury. You have gone WAY above and beyond to try out every nook and cranny of Edge. We did not expect you to personally check out the medical services onboard. But we are happy to hear they took good care of you and that you are now relaxing in your suite. Get a good night's rest and be sure to take care of yourself. THANKS for continuing to share with us. The good news is that I’m onboard and got a free Edge hat. The bad news is that I tripped on a raised thing on the gangway and smashed my head and ended up in Medical and had 8 stitches in my head. I’m still alive and they let me stay on the Edge!!!!!!! I look like a train wreck, with a split lip, maybe cracked nose and lovely stitches up my forehead and scalp. The MD was wonderful and everyone here has been so supportive. They even got me a free Edge hat to cover my wounds. It looks like I will live and am thankful that it wasn’t worse!! Was scary at first. So I finally got to my S1 at 1:00 and this was my view! Love love love this suite!! I’m off to muster- not sure I’ll be at the RTG - I look like a train wreck. I may have you all here to see me later. 😀 Very tough way to let us know Medical is at the top of their game. Feel Better, Lady. Maybe it’s time you relax on that fancy bed or on that rear facing balcony of yours for a day or so now. Or at least try. Denny01 Posted November 28, 2018 #381 Share Posted November 28, 2018 (edited) Marilyn (VTCrusing!) - I added this post to the one thanking you, but wanted to add it here to make sure you saw it!! just wanted to let you know we are all thinking about you tonight. Hope you are getting a good night sleep but realize you’ll be feeling a bit more pain this next day, but if you’re going to feel a bit poorly, relaxing on such a great ship is a good place for it. Just sit and relax and know so many are thinking of you. By the way, I went through and looked at all the posts you added that helped so many of us to get to know this ship better and counted out how many responsed to all your fine threads: over 3,500! And how many read your threads: over 228,000! Wow. And just think of how much enjoyment you’ve given us. Relax and enjoy.Hope to cruise with you and your DH sometime in the future. J18ktleo Posted November 28, 2018 #382 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Marilyn, Sending you healing thoughts and that's going waaaaay overboard on trying out Medical! Question, looking at the picture posted of the bed in the suite it does look like it's covered all the way around, so where does the luggage go??? vtcruising Posted November 28, 2018 Author #384 Share Posted November 28, 2018 As you you can see, no hippie van. We are going to have to somehow survive without it. This place has many nooks and types of seating. It really is a nice area. I hope the weather cooperates today so I can be up there some. Met one of the Retreat concierges - Lively guy and took a lot of time to welcome us and give suggestions.

This place has many nooks and types of seating. It really is a nice area. I hope the weather cooperates today so I can be up there some to relax and heal. As several suggested I may need a few cocktails for medicinal purposes. I will see what the bar situation is there since there doesn’t seem to be a bar within the lounge. They serve drinks there, but not sure they have a place to sit at the bar except at the pool. Reminds me, quite a few are complaining about the bar stools on board ( and bartenders have heard it a lot), though they are stylish, they have no place to put your feet. Legs are just hanging at the bars, I guess. 😊

vtcruising Posted November 28, 2018 Author #387 Share Posted November 28, 2018 This morning I am sitting in my Kelly Hoppen greige rocker (that I love!), with the tom- tom as a footrest. Probably most know about the tom - tom now but for those who don’t there is an unusual piece of furniture in the staterooms that look like a drum and are multi- purpose. They are quite heavy - not small and flimsy as they look in pictures. The top comes off and turns over, with a soft side for a seat or footstool and a flat head side for drinks. It is hollow so you can store stuff in it . We may fill ours with ice and beer and other drinks and bring it out on the balcony, though maybe not since Lysette used hers fir dirty laundry😀. Soft top for seat or footrest: hard top for small coffee table Hollow base for beer cooler, hiding the things you bought at the shops or whatever floats your boat! Anyway, I’m enjoying it as a footrest now. The rocker is quite long in the base and leans back somewhat like a lounger. I would bet they will be dragged onto the balcony 2 1
vtcruising Posted November 28, 2018 Author #388 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Did I mention the handwahing center in the OVC? Instead of purell they have a nice hand washing area. So cool! We’ve been there a couple times and the food seems better and have heard that from others. Chairs are nice, higher tables facing windows are popular and the service is good. Someone bringing pastries and coffee and tea at breakfast . Fruit is so amazingly perfect. I talked to other cruisers about the wow factor for even the OVC. People who have never sailed X seem to be impressed with this ship. i
cruise47 Posted November 28, 2018 #389 Share Posted November 28, 2018 (edited) The food is better on The Celebrity Edge. That is just one of the reason that. Celebrity Cruise Lines stood head and heels higher over the other cruise lines. The word “Excellent “ is Celebrity Cruise Lines trademarked . Vtcruising how are you feel this morning. vtcruising Posted November 28, 2018 Author #390 Share Posted November 28, 2018 (edited) We ate at the Fine Cut Steakhouse last night and it was wonderful!! It was the restaurant that I was looking forward to the most and we were invited to go there last night with 2 other couples who have United Way suites. It was a little awkward at first since we didn’t know them, but we ended up really enjoying the other couples and didn’t want to leave. Explaining my face was a good conversation starter. 😉 The food did not disappoint. So nice to have prime aged beef - my bone in filet mignon and my DH’s prime rib eye were superb - cooked to perfection. The scallop appetizer and arugula salad were very good too. I would highly recommend the hot fudge sundae for desert. The service was Muranoesque. The concept error here IMO is that having this gorgeous high end restaurant so open to the Grand Plaza will detract from the ambiance due to the loud Martini Bar music. When we walked in the MB was hopping and the music very loud in FCSH. We sat further back luckily so it wasn’t an issue or maybe they tone it down after 6 for fine dining. Very nice restaurant - hard to choose - will be back Dec 1 and Jan 20. 😀 One of the people was a cruise critic person intermittently and had seen some of our recent excitement about the Edge so it was fun to talk shop with her. She loved my selfie with LLP.😊 The orher couple walked with with us to the Faceless People and the Haunted Forest. They had never sailed X and were impressed with the art. I spoke with A crew member in the hallway who was smitten with the faceless people. He said they paid $80,000 each for them (there are 6). When I got on the elevator someone said”Marilyn” and I didn’t recognize them. They asked how I was doing - it was citruscuiser, who is following the thread - she saw my hat and face that looked beaten up and knew who I was - very funny - I won’t be incognito today! Rare hcat Posted November 28, 2018 #391 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Hi Vt Hope you slept well in your nice suite digs..looks very comfy! Have a great day..You are a real trooper for carrying on after your accident...enjoy! Thanks for pics of the Retreat..definitely nice furniture up there..but what's with rocking chairs on what might sometimes be a rocking ship! Seeing more of the Hoppen style, like the Tom Tom..I think she would be so perfect to design college dorms..that's just how I view it! Very retro... Could not open the Tree People Video..will try again Waste of money for the faceless people! And if they own them, they can't be rotated out! Glad you liked Fine Cut but distracting music from the bar/ lobby is a bummer. Noticed that as a potential issue for BLU and the Bistro..no doors. We won't want to sit near the BLU curtain but closer toi a window or wall.. Hope your day is filled with smiles!

Better I am praying. Thanks for asking!!! Yes I am doing better - sore all over and my face is a mess but I am feeling sooooooo lucky. I hit the window frame pretty hard and there was a ton of blood - I was nervous about developing an intracranial hemorrhage but think that risk has passed. The doctor will check me out this morning and had said to get the stitches out in 5 days. I said That I would be back on board in 5 days and she said “great, I’ll take them out. It’s better to have the same person do it anyway.” So I have a date when I board on the 1st to have my stitches out. You can’t make this stuff up!! The bill is on my account. It was $589, I think. Much cheaper than my ER at home. I was lucky because this MD has a lot of suturing experience and said she was good at it. She gave me the choice of steri strips and glue (<$200)or the sutures, saying the outcome would be much better with suturing (it’s in the middle of my forehead). Seemed like a no brainer. They were excellent to deal with - I will bring them some maple syrup this morning.😉 Everyone has been so nice. I have had calls from so many X people, asking what they can do. I may ask for the ship model in the gift shop $55 or the crystal one that is $120. To make me feel better. 😉 Edited November 28, 2018 by vtcruising
pl281 Posted November 28, 2018 #393 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Sorry to hear about your mis-step - I have a question about the S1 - and probably other cabins - with the TV mounted across from the couch - does it tilt at all so you watch from in bed or do you have to sit on the couch and watch? vtcruising Posted November 28, 2018 Author #396 Share Posted November 28, 2018 (edited) Just to add to the gang plank story because only you Edgies would appreciate this - everyone else would think me crazy. The EMTs that were called said I needed stitches and wanted to bring me to the hospital and said I’d be back in time for the cruise. I said no, I wanted to board (and explained my obsession with the ship). I asked if the MDs onboard could do the stitches and they said they weren’t sure they would, I said that I had my sewing kit and would do it myself if I had to ( have some experience). The X employees were chuckling and said that I really was determined to be on the Edge. I’m so happy I got back onboard !! BTW, thanks to the person who asked where Medical was - I knew exactly where it was and the employees didn’t know yet. 😀 Edited November 28, 2018 by vtcruising 6

vtcruising Posted November 28, 2018 Author #400 Share Posted November 28, 2018 (edited) Oh, just This ship sails very smoothly - can’t tell it’s moving sometimes but the seas are arocking and rolling this morning. Hearing a little new ship creaking but all in all this stateroom is very quiet! Really love the se up - the Retreat concierge said the aft S1s are set up the same - I won’t believe it til I see it. He said they are all full or he would show us one. If if any of you peeps on this cruise want to see it , let me know. 10147. We haven’t planned our day yet but should have some free time.😀 Oh, just noticed that if you start to open curtains they open the rest of way on their own. Cool. Even better - just found out I can open and close the curtains with my app. I love this ship! Edited November 28, 2018 by vtcruising
