Evening Father and a Happy New Year! Captain Eric Barhorst is in command of Eurodam

He is a good guy also.  I have traveled with both Captains and like them both.  The Eurodam is a great ship.

Thank you for taking us along with you on your New Year cruise.

Your stateroom looks very smart.

Wishing you both a wonderful cruise, and the very best of everything for 2019.

A lovely warm sunny day here, on this first day of 2019.

Happy New Year and thank you for taking us along.  Great pix and maps.

If you happen to be in the casino sometime, would you see if there is a crap table.  I've heard rumors.........Also, does it still open at 9pm.  66 days and counting.

Our two stateroom stewards are Arie, the lead, and his assistant Putu. So, dinner was a casual affair in what’s now officially known as the Lido Market served to us by a Filipino asst. cook by the name of King. We both wound up having the salmon with wild rice which was tasty.

There usually is only one show on embarkation day at 9:30 PM in the Mainstage and today was no exception. This is a new show however, not the old “Listen to the Music.” The concept is similar with the cruise director, in this case Christine, introducing the entertainers of the ship in a 30-35 minute show called “Preview” and full use is made of Eurodam’s technical “show stuff” like moving stage panels with LED projections, sound and computerized lighting sets, interspaced with the full cast performing multiple musical and dance numbers from their upcoming production shows “1000 Steps” and “Off the Charts.”

After the show, we spent time taking in the B.B. King’s All-Stars in their lounge who were awesome with sweet sounds. We learned from the band’s trumpet player that most of the musicians were brand new to HAL and had met each other for the first time in Memphis, TN for rehearsals just prior to joining Eurodam. They sound really good and attracted crowds during all three of their sets. In between those same sets, we moseyed over to nearby Billboard Onboard where piano players Greg and Alissa were taking requests. The old-time piano bars might have been hits with some, but HAL’s got a big hit going with Billboard Onboard!

We called it a night around 11;45 PM only to get an interesting surprise at 5:19 AM :classic_ohmy:

Will get back to you on the crap table; we don't gamble :classic_wink: On embarkation day the casino opened at 8:30 PM and on the two sea days, at 2:00 PM

Happy New Year to you and your lovely wife!

To grab the menus without scanning, open up the Navigator "app" and go to Dining. Dining is visible along the bottom on a computer, but on the fly out (hamburger) mobile menu on a smaller screen. Find the MDR. There should be a link to download today's menu. A blue button, IIRC.

You'll be saving an MS Word docx file. You'll need to rename it as you are saving it, because each day's files will have the same name.

They probably won't display perfectly correctly because you won't have the HAL fonts. However, they'll be readable. If you want them prettied up, you can send them to me once you get home.

Sorry I didn't mention the Word files earlier. I didn't realize it myself until Day 3 - and I'm allegedly trained to spot this kind of thing.

Happy New Year to all.

Heavy traffic was due to visitors in town for the Holiday Bowl parade and game yesterday.

A van from Tijuana arrived at 4:45 pm with 6 guests.  Lucky for them that they used their cell phone to relay their progress once through the border crossing.

When your safety drill started, there were still 17 missing.  Slowly they trickled in, with a variety of "excuses" for not being on board by 4 pm.   Two had driven from Fresno, two misread their boarding documents and thought check-in was at 5 pm, and two were just married.
