metsmom Posted February 5, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2019 Just wondering if lunch is served in the Solarium Bistro on Embarkation Day? I checked cruise planner and only times available for dinner were too late for us. I saw you don't need reservations for lunch and wondered if they would be open after we boarded the ship the first day or only open certain days at lunch time. Thanks for any help! zdad59 Posted February 5, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2019 A great way to avoid the Windjammer. That and Park Cafe.
blueridgemama Posted February 5, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2019 When can you make reservations for dinner in the Solarium Bistro? My cruise is on Symphony in September. I have been able to make reservations for MTD but I don't see the Bistro.

37645 Posted February 6, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2019 I have never been on a cruise hat had the Solarium Bistro. Do they have a good amount of options for vegetarians? Thanks

mets123 Posted February 6, 2019 #9 Share Posted February 6, 2019 It's like a mini Windjammer. Very subdued and not many children.
Rare KmomChicago Posted February 7, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 7, 2019 Was my personal favorite on Oasis. I am getting old and just can't tolerate a heavy and junky diet anymore, which is of course a problem on cruises. Bistro had everything I liked: Tiny buffet - salad - appetizer area full of international, very flavorful, veggie-based dishes Little serving line with entrees, more sides, and desserts Nice setting - only a few tables but they were rarely all full Little beverage station with coffee and flavored waters No reservations needed for breakfast or lunch, no upcharge Not a particularly popular venue so nowhere near as overwhelming as Windjammer (which we also loved anyway) View of the ocean. Also, view of people in swimsuits in the Solarium, if you like that sort of thing. More the ocean for me. Our cabin (inside guarantee) ended up being Deck 10 forward right next to the elevators and stairs, so a quick ride or jog up.
nat9511 Posted February 7, 2019 #11 Share Posted February 7, 2019 I was on the Symphony in January. We did not make dinner reservation for the Solarium Bistro. We like to eat early and just showed up every night between 5:30 and 6:00. We were seated every time.

Not sure my family member that is vegetarian would like gazpacho but we can always take a peek at SB to see what type of entrees they have and go to the windjammer if none of them sound appealing. :)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SuiteLady Posted February 7, 2019 #13 Share Posted February 7, 2019 Love eating breakfast and lunch in the Solarium! That is where I head on embarkation day! I am so over the crowded Windjammer....lol.
HBE4 Posted February 7, 2019 #14 Share Posted February 7, 2019 Every time we've eaten in the Solarium Bistro, we did make reservations just to be on the safe side. Usually 7:00-7:30-ish. But the place was never full and it seemed like many people would just walk in & be seated without reservations. Obviously, if you are traveling with a large group, I'd recommend reservations as the Bistro is not large.
zdad59 Posted February 7, 2019 #15 Share Posted February 7, 2019 On Allure, the Solarium Bistro becomes Samba Grille for dinner. It’s an upcharge restaurant...a Brazilian Steakhouse.
matj2000 Posted February 7, 2019 #16 Share Posted February 7, 2019 I had lunch at SB on the Oasis back in Nov. Probably the worst selection of food I have ever seen on a cruise. I would not recommend it to anyone....
