Allure where to stay deck 8 vs deck 6

Recommended Posts

So I am travelling in the Allure next year. I booked a Jr Suite in the 8th floor. I know see another JR Suite available in floor 6 with Hump balcony room 6240. Is the 6th floor also a good floor, or would you stay in the 8th floor and forget about the hump balcony?

Thanksss

We stayed in 6640 on the Oasis in May 2018 and LOVED it. The balcony was huge and we spent a lot of time out there. The room was also very conveniently located near the promenade, boardwalk, schooner bar, and aft elevators to the dining rooms, casino and pool. Central Park was also very convenient to get to. I personally would choose 6640 or 6240 over any other JS on the ship as we love deck 6, but particularly if you are comparing it to a JS without the larger hump balcony.

Hump balconys tend to be a bit bigger but I would definitely prefer to be on deck 8. It’s really nice to walk through Central Park and to be close to Park Cafe in the morning. I also like being close to Dazzles at night.

I'd pick deck 8 for quick access to Central Park and more importantly, Park Cafe which I visit several times a day.

However, 6240, is close to the Boardwalk, schooner bar & rear elevators, if that's important to you.

I've never had a hump balcony. Is it worth it? It just seems to be slightly larger than a regular balcony. Maybe back in the 1990's it was worth it but on today's mega-ships, the balconies are a decent size to begin with.

I guess that answers my question about balcony size. lol

Our Jr Suite hump balcony had 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a table with plenty of space between. I’m pretty sure the non-hump rooms aren’t big enough for both loungers. It was nice to relax out there on the loungers at night (particularly as we had sleeping kids in the room).

I’ll add I’ve looked at regular hump balconies vs regular balconies and tend to agree that the size difference isn’t really worth the extra cost. But with the Jr Suites the balconies are so much wider to begin with that the extra space really makes for quite a large balcony. And since there’s no difference in price between the hump Jr Suite and non-hump Jr Suite, I’d take the extra space and loungers...

I wasn't thinking. I forgot the JS has a much larger balcony to begin with. 2 lounger, 2 chairs and table certainly make for a big balcony.

I over researched our Allure cruise a few years ago.  I decided on a balcony on deck 8 for the walk through Central Park at night back to our room and the Park Cafe.  I really enjoyed it.  That said, my dad had a balcony on deck 6 (guarantee balcony) and paid less.  I was impressed with that deck equally as much as deck 8.  It was easy to get to the promenade and boardwalk.  Not that it's hard from deck 8, but I realized I would have been happy with either.

If I'm really honest, I'm not sure any deck is better or worse.  They all have different pro's, in my opinion.

I think I'd go with a Jr. Suite hump than think I'm in a worse deck than 8.

I'd stay away from deck 14.

We prefer deck 8. Deck 6 is "disconnected" at the ends of the promenade, so if you're in an aft hump JS you either have to go down to deck 5 or up to deck 8 to get from the back of the ship to the front without walking past a 1/4 mile of cabins.

Thank you!! I switched to the 6th floor

I think you will be VERY happy when you step out onto that balcony!  I tried to "step" it off one time and I think it's about 33% larger than regular balconies.  I made that decision because it seems to have an extra panel in the divider.  But I think you'll LOVE it!  Good choice!
