Just got back from Puerto Rico from the Summit, and I loved it.  Reading all the reviews of people complaining is so sad.  Yes there's some issues but you all have to remember you're on vacation, just relax and enjoy yourselves.  Im here at work wishing I can get back on that ship!  I've been on about 15 cruises, mostly on Carnival and first time on Celebrity... wow what a difference. The decor, food and on this ship the singers/entertainment were fantastic.  I've never done a review of a cruise before but I'm thinking about doing one.

Hi Deb.  We were on the 3/25 sailing as well.  We loved it.  I thought the entertainment was stellar.  I have mostly cruised with Carnival and a couple on Royal, though not the bigger ships.  This was our first Celebrity and I think it won't be our last.  We cruised with my brother and his wife who mostly do the big Royal ships.  They thought activities were lacking and would have liked more choices.  My husband and I were satisfied.   A piano bar, though, would be a great addition!

I've been on the Allure and felt overwhelmed by all the things I could do and didn't want to miss out on. I didn't mind the lack of activities. This was a very nice relaxing cruise for us without our children.  Our last Carnival cruise was during Thanksgiving break and it was overrun by kids and loud. I loved the solarium and the bubble seats.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.  We are sailing in an oceanview room in June.   I think most of the disappointment comes from those in the suite categories, which is understandable at this price point.  We have cruised on the Summit previously twice, and the rooms(especially bathrooms) imo were in serious need of the revolution.  We are looking forward to the new look.

I'm the average cruiser.  We try to cruise twice a year with the kids but could only do that on Carnival so maybe our standards are lower.  Any day I don't have to work, cookand clean is the best vacation for me.  I was celebrating my 40th so we left the kids at home and wanted to try something new and different.  I'm glad we did!

We have sailed multiple times on the Summit and enjoyed the ship.  Yes, it was in need of updating and we are glad it has been done-  Hopefully we will sail on her again.  Unfortunately, the August week that works for us seems to be chartered over the past couple of years-  If Celebrity rotates that week for charters, we will consider sailing on her again.

Sounds like the updates were done and are great.

Thank you for posting this--the wailing and gnashing of teeth over perceived issues has turned absolutely ridiculous.  When people claim they are going to threaten to cancel a cruise because of ancillary furniture in the cabin, you know things have gone off the rails.  We are sailing Celebrity (on the Summit) for the first time in November, and I am incredibly excited to do so, in large part based on all of the pics of the Revolutionized Summit, which look fantastic.  To see that the thread about the  new Summit has been hijacked by people upset over a coffee table or minor decorations in a cabin is just sad.  You hit the nail right on the head about enjoying the cruise, and it sounds like you had a great time on a great new ship.

I'm a regular on RCCL, HAL, NCL, MSC,Carnival and X. Celebrity and MSC have by far the most whiners of all the forums I visit. On MSC, it's mostly about customer service, but here everything is fair game. These are the forums of cruise lines I have traveled on or going to be on.

I am glad you enjoyed the Summit. We have sailed on the Summit more times than I care to count and have always loved every minute. We will be cruising on her again this Fall for 21 days and we are looking forward to it...AGAIN!

The one theme that is highlighted in all the above is that you are new X cruisers, mainly from Carnival (and I’ve also noticed recently there are numerous posts from NCL crossovers too). Perhaps that’s where the difference lies? Many of the posts you refer to are from long-standing X cruisers and that’s why they see the differences more. It would probably be the same if they were to sail Carnival and read some of the comments on that board from regular Carnival cruisers.

It was perceived that X were after millennials going forward, but perhaps that was wrong and they are actually hitting their target market: crossovers from NCL and Carnival? Just a thought.

I'm not big on posting on any boards, I come to these forums to learn about what to do while on my next vacation.

I have been on cruises where I read some of the reviews and people are just see things completely different.  I worked in the hospitality industry for many years, have friends who work in the cruise industry also.  Its all the same.  People complain.  I just see great service, most of the time great banquet level food, sorry the main restaurants are nothing more than this when your serving 900 plus or so at each sitting, and they do a great great job with it mostly.  Yes I ask for something else if I don't like what I m having and always end up happy.   I actually  always make sure I have a cocktail with me when I go to guest services since around 30-40% of the time I hear crazy guests there and want to enjoy the show on how childish people can be, or think they are so self important.  I never once have been on a bad cruise, okay maybe I haven't done enough, (15) but I think its a fair sampling size.

I understand that point, my perception before cruising on on Celebrity was that it was geared for the older crowd and not for children.  Since I turned 40 we decided to try this and enjoyed the more relaxing, laid back experience.  It also helped that it was completely revolutionized 😁. Also there was a lot of 30s and 40s that I saw.  I've seen much older crowds on Carnival depending on the the time you travel.

I am so pleased to hear from someone who has had a truly wonderful cruise experience.

We are Celebrity loyal and we really love the brand. if you see my cruise history we have tried a few other lines but always prefer X. Yes we can pick holes in some ships and some cruises but our glass is always half full! - we go on holiday to have a great time and we ALWAYS do.

We were last on Summit in 2007 and have booked for January 2020 to see the new look ship. I already know she wont disappoint even though I know there are no alcoves and no Murano - so what? there will be something special about the old girl and we will have a ball.

We have just returned from 2 weeks in the Caribbean on Silhouette and there have been a few operational hiccups which were nipped in the bud with a smile and we had the best time.

Yes I think you have made a move to a better cruise line which you have enjoyed which is great for the brand to have a new up and coming bunch of loyal followers. Let those who want to moan about X and its shortcomings either continue to back the cruise line and stay loyal or move to another line.

Yes I can quite see your point. This is a natural evolution I think from other brands to the better(IMO) one.

We are on the new Summit now for 2 weeks.  I think the ship is beautiful.  We last sailed on her 6 years ago.  The room, aqua class, is beautiful.  Yes there is no coffee table, but we just brought the one from the balcony inside when we thought we needed it.  The casino smells of the leather of the new chairs.  The Windjammer, light and bright, the Cellar Masters is elegant.   Blu has not been revolutionized, but is still very nice.  As elite plus we are quite pleased with the ship, but have not been to the elite lounge yet, so no comment on that lounge.

A day on a ship is far better than a day at home!!

We are long time Celebrity cruisers and are in the camp of those who look at these changes as an exciting direction. Most certainly, as with any change, there are things that may not be to our taste. None of these items would change our mind on booking future cruises and booking them with Celebrity...in fact we are booked through April 2021.

It is refreshing to hear positive comments from newer cruisers, regardless of where prior loyalties have been. We can only hope that the new relationships turn into loyal Celebrity cruisers in the future.

Remember, the current, long standing Celebrity cruisers had to start some place. Perhaps the next generation of long standing Celebrity cruisers is starting now.

We will be on our 20th Celebrity cruise in November with 2 more booked, all on Revolutionized ships.  I'm going with an open mind and actually like the new looks.

What is disheartening and is adding to complaints by long time Celebrity cruisers is the lack of functioning furniture and décor and things left undone.  When you see a Concierge cabin with a single chair and no coffee table, yet there is plenty of open wall space where a couch could have been, and you think about bringing deck furniture into the suite you start to wonder why you are spending the bigger bucks for the room.  Then you look at the Royal suite and there is no place in the shower for shampoo, shower gel, etc.  How did a designer over look that.  Why am I spending even bigger bucks for a non functioning shower.  I've also read reviews of Millennium and a lot of them are saying things are just not finished, electrical cords hanging, ceiling a/c vent covered by ceiling tile, doors that will not stay closed or will not lock, etc.  Who was responsible for quality control in this Revolution, or did they just push the product out so fast that no one was doing a walk through with a punch list?

Ok, rant over, looking forward to all of our cruises and am confident that all the bugs

will be worked out

It is not so much the long standing cruisers seeing the difference more, it is the drawing a line in the sand over a missing coffee table or a chair that is not to their liking.  Honestly, at times it feels that these complainers are pissed that they weren't consulted on interior decorating choices, because clearly (in their minds) they could do it much better.  What's even more comical is the fact that some of these people have decreed that due to what they believe is poor decorating choices, they are going to cancel their trip.  If that is indeed the case, it is probably better for all involved, including all the poor X employees who would have to listen to their complaints about minor things.  I personally believe that people should give informed opinions once they cruise the new ship, not jump to negative conclusions based on photos.  As for me, we are going on Celebrity for the first time after previously cruising on DCL and NCL (in a Haven suite), and I for one think that based on the photos I've seen thus far of the Sky Suites, that they look much nicer and roomier than the Haven suites.

Excellent point!

Previous passengers miss the features they were expecting that have been removed or downgraded, while new passengers lack that basis for comparison.  Therefore they don't notice the cutbacks, not having previously experienced the missing (or downgraded) items.
