We had dinner at in Fine Cut steakhouse.  The charge is $55.  I told you I was trying as many venues as I could!  I do wish I had time to sample the MDRs as well to do a comparison

I may have missed something in other posts and am curious  to know who is the other part of  “we”  that you dined with?

Thanks

In case Jenn is too busy unpacking, etc.: Post #2 talks about having her co-worker onboard - maybe that is who she was talking about?

Was that in the MDR? There wouldn't be an extra charge on the Edge to have surf and turf in the MDR. The steaks in Prime Cut Steakhouse are advertised as Prime or premium dry-aged, so a cut above. I can see charging extra for those steaks. 🙂

We wanted to try the risotto dish and were told there would be an extra charge.  Also the Double Chocolate Brownie gives the Ultimate Chocolate Sunday its run for the money😉😃.  Actually the brownie won that race.

Henry would agree, but one thing I love is a good hot fudge sundae. Usually we share a dessert unless I have a scoop of ice cream (he orders something chocolate and I take a couple of bites), but he wanted the brownie and I wanted the sundae. We were both happy! 🙂 🍨

I can see now on the menu that Jenn posted above that it does say at the bottom that extra entrees will have a $20 charge (post #88). I'm glad that it is on the menu. It must be a change because here is the original menu without the $20 extra charge (I don't remember seeing that the 3 times we went, but it could have been there). I imagine because everything looks so good, people wanted to try it all so they had to limit the entrees. 🙂

Interested in what was great on your cruises on the EDGE. Wasn't the terrible food we had every day. Wasn't the atmosphere, there wasn't one, wasn't the extremely loud music was it. Wasn't the terrible seating was it. Wasn't the absence of color on the ship. What did you call the show at the EDEN? Children playing? What did you call the lunch at the EDEN? How did you sleep on the rock hard bed? Wasn't the absence of seating at the martini bar was it? The only positive on that ship was the staff. They were hand picked and the best ever. The EDGE was the worst cruise we took out of 70 cruises. I really hope they change many things. nothing to do on that ship but drink and eat. Deal or No Deal game was nothing but a rip off of $25.00. Most any winners only got some match play at the casino. The only one that made out was the person picked to play. The magic carpet is nothing but a gimmick and a joke. The few times it was available to get on. You could never get on it to get a drink. that is when it was open for that. packed. Dining on it was impossible with the heavy winds. Table cloths blowing off of the table and the womens hair getting totally messed up. A stupid idea for sure. Expecting to use the magic carpet and the nice boats they bragged about to go to shore was a major let down. Same old, same old. Asked why. Cannot use the magic carpet with the standard boats. Our boats do not hold enough people. So what you see in the videos is nothing more than a lie. Maybe they use them when they go to there island. The EDGE a total let down. Like sailing on a hotel and nothing more.

I'm on this cruise and at the gym as we speak. This is my second sailing after having to leave early the Dec 16th inaugural cruise. The food has been nothing short of amazing. Having dined at all four main restaurants I think Tuscan and Normandie are my favorites. Top dishes are the Strozzapreti Carbonara at Tuscan (you swear you were in Rome) and the lavander roasted salmon in Normandie.

Still love breakfast and lunch at Eden (although they have limited the days available vs Dec) with the oatmeal and bearclaw tops for breakfast and sliders, salads and the AMAZING brownies & chocolate chip cookies for lunch.

Quick observations is that entertainment has changed quite a bit and the ship is feeling like it's coming together. Still no problems with getting drinks or seats at The Grand Plaza during Elite Cocktail Hour and really haven't noticed any PERVASIVE toilet odors ( sometimes a SLIGHT smell here and there but nothing where I would have to leave any particular area).

More to come later.

Thanks for doing this! I was pointed here when I asked what people would do between Equinox Eastern or Edge Western.

Still not 100% decided, but almost leaning towards going back to Disney and dealing with Marvel or Star Wars Day At Sea because I feel like I won’t be comfortable in my normal shorts and stuff during the day. I only do skirts or dresses when required (like dinners). Sounds like I would stick out and be one of “those people” who gets talked about on here. 😞 Celebrity might be too fancy for me.

Oh my goodness don’t let that decide you. I’m sure Jenn said it was just a personal preference why she didn’t wear shorts. I’m just off Reflection and I’d say the vast majority are in short during the day. Honestly no difference from Disney in that respect (done 16 DCL and 12 Celebrity if that helps.)

Thanks.  I may have mis-read - I thought she was saying that most people were dressed up and shorts were pretty much just people on excursions.

I would say smart shorts - not gym type ones! But honestly shorts are the norm on the other Celebrity ships I have been on.

I agree with Wendy. Jenn did say she didn’t like she didn’t like shorts for herself. I assure you that there are plenty of people wearing shorts or capris (during the day, in warm climates) on Celebrity ships. In fact, I will be amongst them in a few days😉 In my experience, few people wear shorts in the evening, unless they intend to dine in the OVC (the buffet) or hit the gym when it’s less crowded.

Ok, thanks. I will wear a dress or skirt for dinner, but I hate how I look and feel in them, so it is minimal time at best.

We enjoyed our EDGE cruise. In Jamuary .We will be returning to EDGE and also booked APEX!

Sorry you did not enjoy EDGE..

We also enjoyed the Edge in January and really liked our IV. We are also booked again for 2020 and booked on Apex for 2021.  Not everyone has been turned off by this class of ship.

You can also wear Palazzo pants or dress up a nice pair of pants with heels and a sparkly top😎

I replied on your inquiry thread( pls refer back) ...Jenn was on a working cruise.  But to be honest we did find EDGE a bit more dressy in the evenings ..but nice shorts and tops are fine for daytime..

Dress has really been all over the place on the current cruise. A handful of tuxes and suits on chic nights, most people dressed nicely but certainly less dressy than the old formal night attire and then some super casually attired - in Luminae last night (chic) one couple waltzed in wearing shorts and flip flops you’d typically wear to the pool (along with a noisy infant); hostess didn’t say a thing and sat them without batting an eye.

Siting on an S2 balcony sailing back to FLL.  I have sailed on celebrity in all current classes and didn’t know what to expect. Yes I miss the a cappella groups and the piano player at cove cafe.  Time moves on. I was pleasantly surprised. Our S2 is awesome. The bathroom is amazing. The crew is exceptional. There are things that I am not pleased with, no ship is perfect. The retreat is fantastic. Make your own judgement but we are having a wonderful time.  Booked apex April 2020 while on board. Jen it was great to meet you.
