Just off Adventure and bartender lied about drinks

Recommended Posts

Friday night last night of the cruise was in casino and getting a BBC and was told by bartender that he did not have the pina colada mix. I then switched to a Mudslide and was told he could  not make this either. I did not hear what reason he could not make the Mudslide. I then approached a casino employee and we went to the bartender and he told us that there was no more pina colada mix left on the ship. I did not think this was possible so went to guest services and the Representative called the Bar supervisor who came and talked to me in person. He made a few phone calls and said what the bartender said was not true. He took me to the Pub and got me my BBC. He was nice enough to apologize to me and said he would take care of the casino problem. We also complained about the freestyle machines on this ship. Always out of ice and one machine in windjammer broken all week and the other machine was empty 4 days of the cruise. We were able to go to bartender in windjammer to get soda but the wait was very long sometimes.  The other two machines on Deck 5 were also always out of ice and most flavors of soda. Sometimes the wait at Promenade Café was so long we just did without ice. The bar supervisor did however refund us 2 days of our package.

Sorry that you had a problem.  Feel your title is a little strong - bartender told you he was out of a mix - this does happen especially on the last night of a cruise.  Specific bar could have easily been out and bartender told no more available.  Understand that you were upset, but to think he purposely lied is a bit much.

If I was told they were out of pina colada mix, I’d just get something else. Hard for me to believe anyone would go to guest services over that, regardless of the outcome. Hope getting the drink was worth the effort.

Yeah, happens. Over the years one or two machines were out of Diet Coke syrup towards end my Cruise. Once they were even pouring it out of 2lt bottles at the Bar

It is the statement that the ship is out of the mix that was the problem. We only drink 2 or 3 different drinks and BBC and Mudslides are 2 of them.  We only drink on cruises and usually only have 1 drink a day. So I can only assume he was too lazy to get supplies or did not want to serve me.

Assume much?

Like others said, the bar was probably out of the mix.

It happens.  Next time, just walk to another bar and ask for the drink.

Wow - talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. So the guy was out of pina colada mix. It was the last night of the cruise and things don’t get restocked until the next day. Did you want him drawn and quartered because he couldn’t leave his post to run around the ship to find your favorite drink? And we all know what happens when one assumes.

No mountain but when you are told that the SHIP is out of the mix and find out that he (lied, Mispoke) or whatever you want to think he should not have told me the entire ship was out of mix. My wife me and daughter are all prime members in casino and lately service in casino has been terrible.

They sort of lie about stuff all the time. It is not unusual. Just go to a different bar. It is something that we no longer make an issue of, unless we need to get the bar manager involved.

Being a Prime member does not mean you are better than anyone else on the ship. You are really coming off like  Pompous A$$

Pretty sure this is uncalled for too.

To say he lied, call him lazy or say he didn't want to save you is really uncalled for.

WOW, how rude.  You stated that what the Op called the bartender was uncalled for, but yet you make such a terse and uncalled statement as to certain Op's expectations (service).

Agree. Bravo.

I can only imagine the post we'd see if the bed sheets were slightly wrinkled...oh the tragedy of it all...

Sounds like you had a lazy bar-crew!

OP, Good for you. You had an issue that was important to you and you took action to have it resolved to your satisfaction.

I'm am sure the posters around here who are criticizing you would do exactly the same thing if they encountered a similar problem involving something important to them. I'd complain if they claimed they were out of my favourite whisky. Others would complain if they were out of straws for those fruity frozen drinks. Others would complain if the buffet claimed there was no more bacon on the ship. And so on and so on.

Thanks for posting.

OK..there was a lazy bartender. WOW - that's the end of the world apparently for a very few people.

...but then put the frosting on the cake by venting here after the fact...dealing with it at the time with a simple conversation to his boss was the right thing to do. End of story.
