I just downloaded an Andriod update on my Samsung 8, checked the Google Play store and found MedallionClass! Got it running now (still have to wait for the Sky Princess Inaugural Med booking to become enabled). Nice to have the Android version though

WOO HOO! I just found it to after reading your note.  I had heard it might be up this weekend or Monday latest.  

 

I now have it installed and automatically had our upcoming cruises.  It looks like it replaced my former OCEAN Now app (I had all the Apps on my phone).  The "JourneyView" is kind of cool how they have the ship sailing and the animation drawings actually resemble the harbors to be visited.  I looked around.  Had to update relationship for emergency contact.  Can't remember what else I might have touched.  Being off ship don't see everything, but having single-sign-on is great.

This year I was on the Caribbean Princess and we received them 10 days before the cruise. It was great you just walk on the ship. 😁😁😁

When you just walked onto the ship, did you arrive at the pier early or did you show up closer to their suggested time?  Also, what port did you leave from?  I'm trying to decide if I should arrive early as I usually do or arrive a little later.  Thanks.

FWIW when I ordered the medallion it states they could not ship to me as I live in CA (that would be California) but I got it via FEDEX anyway. Almost walked directly on ship. Its a lot faster. No one seemed to show at designated time but it didn't seem to be an issue (Fort Lauderdale). We shall see re: October cruise, getting to LAX at 10:30. For next spring's cruise I've decided to drop bags at SF Pier than play tourist (I live near here) boarding at last minute.

HI.  I was told back in Feb that it was imminent that Medallions would be mailed to Canadian customers.  Still not showing as available for a Nov cruise.  When are you going to be doing this?  At the time, I understood that Medallions were sent from Asia.  They could be sent to Canada just as easily.  Even if mailed from USA, pretty easy to mail to Canada.  Charge me an extra $1 or so for the postage if you want, I don't mind.  But I would like my Medallion just like the Americans on the cruise so we can have the speedy check-in and just head onto the ship.

 

I don't know why they won't ship Medallions to any countries other than USA but I have a theory.  Is it possible that because they are shipping a material item (the medallion itself) that represents a purchase of thousands of dollars that the other countries would want to charge duties or VAT on the cost of the cruise?  Maybe Princess is working those details out.  Just a guess however.

Any custom declaration would be on an individual package and that would be de minimus and not attract any excess charge in most cases... at least in Canada. It would have nothing to do with what paid for cruise.

Downloaded to my phone, Android 7.0.1, but that stays in safe onboard.  Playstore indicated "not available" for my Samsung tablet, Android 8.1.0

 

Tablet is device I would use onboard ... so I feel your pain, but I really don't think you or I will miss much.

 

Just disappointing that for all the time and money invested in this program, the team isn't further along with full functionality for all

I just updated the MedallionClass app on my iPhone and when I opened the app, our November cruises on the Sky Princess were in there - and had not been there previously. So I added all the other details and we're now "Ocean Ready" and I have screenshots of our OceanReady Passes. :classic_smile: Just sayin"....

It appears that there may be an issue with this new Android app, as it does not seem to be installable on Android tablets, only phones. I can install it just fine on two Sammy phones, but it can't be loaded on two other tablets, both running Android versions above 7.0.1 telling me it's not compatible with my device, so the current version is presumably not formatted to run on tablets. Interestingly, there are other comments here on CC that folks have the Apple version of the new app up and running on iPads.

 

Can anyone confirm they have the new MedallionClass app running on an Android tablet, not just a phone?

I'm on the Royal now. I've found you do need to keep the OceanCompass app. Even though it's in the new MedallionClass app, when you click on the OceanCompass section it launches the old app. (The same for OceanPlay and OceanCasino.) 

 

While I have the MedallionClass app on my phone, I'm finding it just faster to just go to my OceanCompass app when I'm trying to locate and communicate with traveling companions.

Until yesterday’s update of my iOS version of the MedallionClass app I was unable to add my November cruise.  After the update my cruise was automatically displayed with all of our information however it’s still too early to order our OceanMedallions.

Just learned an important feature about the App. If your cruise is not at the Ocean Ready State, you can add it or even logon to the application. The error message states that "Your information does not match our records." I gave the support line a bunch of grief over the terrible error message. It should tell you that Your Cruise is not Ocean Ready yet, not that your information is incorrect. 

 

The support tech did not think my complaint was very valid, but grudgingly agreed to send the suggestion upstream. I doubt it will actually happen, but hey you never know. I've been in Software Development for over 30 years and one of the things I harp on is that error messages should be made as accurate and meaningfull as possible. If I had gotten an accurate error message it would have saved me the 10-15 minutes I spent on the site chat and then calling the support line.

I would suspect that you will not get them until you reach the check-in area at the pier. The reason I say that is because meeting Princess passengers at their Princess hotel the day of embarkation is one of the jobs that my wife does with passengers who are in a pre-cruise situation in Seattle and they are unable to do any check-in work with the passengers because it is too far from the WIFI system on the ship for them to access the check-in data. If that's the case, then there would probably be no advantage to issuing the medallions themselves to the hotel passengers.  But, you'll soon find out, I guess! 😀  In any event, hope you have a great cruise!

I got the impression that steelers36 was having the medallions shipped to him at his FLL hotel since they won't ship to Canada.  I didn't get the impression that he was planning to check in to the cruise at the hotel in order to get the medallions.

Can't put it in my tablet either.

Went to Playstore, followed the "Contact Developer" link, sent email asking if it would ever be available for android tablets.  No answer yeth,  but I just now sent the email.

@lx200gps The MedallionClass app currently is available for android devices including tablets, and we are in the process of making app flow improvements for tablets using android OS 8.0+. We appreciate you patience and will keep you updated.

Well, it doesn't work on android 7.0 tablets either

Ocean Ready wasn't available for same devices..

Thank you!  I've been trying to log on all evening and getting that message!  Calling Princess for every error is a pain.  I'll wait until my cruise is closer.

Thanks for keeping us updated. On August 14, you stated "When the Android version of the MedallionClass app becomes available in the next few days, it will, for the most part, support Android devices that have been purchased in the past five years and use the Android OS 6.0 and above. "  Both of our tablets run Android 7+ and neither will install the new app. Does this mean that the new app will now only work on tablets running Android 8+?
