I was one of those affected by the Empress fiascos and I could get full refund but no FCC and to sail when scheduled had to pick from few options Of other ships in same or close to time frame and had to pay quite a price difference as it was only two weeks notice from them so prices were not so great due to so many Empress sailings cancelled. Of course they were not consistent on what their offers were I believe others received better offers than I. The difference being the Empress cancellations were due to a change in government policy and outside of Royals control while this is totally under Royals control. It’s consistent as to how they have differentiated between these two situations in the past.

Im not familiar with the Empress issue..but I'm talking about sailings that are canceled completely. But I am guessing in this scenario with Oasis if they don't have these cruises sail as scheduled they're going to offer the full refund and FCC of some sort. They tend to offer more when it's close to a sailing and folks have travel costs involved. If the ship sails but with limited activities as they're finishing up things I don't see a FCC being offered they could possibly let you opt out for the full refund. If you sail you would get OBC too for the inconvenience. Just from what I've read on how they handled other similar situations.

I sure hope this is true.

I didn’t realize there were more occurrences but I was affected by the cancellations of the Empress when she was taken over by the European company and many of the first sailing dates were cancelled due to dry dock taking longer than expected. Exactly same scenario. I received nothing more than but change fees which did not cover costs of increase in plane tickets to change to new dates AND we had to pay the cost difference for different ship and dates. We did sail on Independence as we all had our vacation time booked etc and had a great time but Royal did not give FCC or deals on changing ships. At the time it seemed surreal that they cancelled my booking but I had to give them more money in order to still sail on their ship. It was quite a fiasco for most but some people did get better offers so just saying what happened in my case.

My cancellation was exactly that and less than two weeks before scheduled time. They cancelled many sailings because dry dock was taking longer than expected. No FCC had choice of sailing on other Empress sailings after dry dock finished or take different ship which is what we chose. No FCC, no full refund, change fees for air was covered only and no deal on sailing of choice within the same original time frame. Their cancellation cost my group more money! Just saying not always do they offer all of what you state.

uvadover Posted November 1, 2019 #688 Share Posted November 1, 2019 Apologies for the re-post but there are now two active threads on this. On the social media site most frequented by the current US president, Royal Carribbean's official twitter is saying as recently as 55 minutes ago that "Oasis is resuming sailing on 11/24" and "No changes have been made to [these] sailings" and "This is just a rumor and there are no cancellations for Oasis." I am sailing 12/29 so I certainly hope things are set. Also went thru TWO recategorizations for this same sailing, so I am over the nonsense reshuffling of cabins. Let's go!

Those balconies seem much larger than the ones on Symphony. This category just opened for my sailing. $18,000.00 for 4 people ($4500 each)...I would never pay that and not have a balcony, Star class or no Star class. That is just not worth it. I do not plan on sitting in the bedroom looking out the window so those 2 in-room bedroom lounge chairs would be wasted on us. We paid 1500 pp for a 3BR garden villa on NCL a few years ago and there is no comparison between that & this cabin. With over 1600 sq ft between cabin and balcony, “cramming” never occurred. IMHO I do agree these cabins can’t be compared. Anyway, we will see if it is better in a 4-bdr villa suite in August—- I’ll report back. 😉 mac_tlc

I'm on December 8th and had a major problem with the re-categorization earlier this week. Have connecting cabins with two small kids and they flipped my son and I to a different deck. Luckily we were able to grab different connecting cabins but I can confirm first hand they are having problems with it. However the fact that it is the first three sailing only that aren't showing does worry me.

I don't think Royal's ships have that much of a percentage increase from double to max. For most ships, I agree. It's usually just a few hundred more. If memory serves me correctly, for Oasis, the original (pre-AMP) pax was 5,400 with a max to 6,100-6,200-ish. Which is still almost less than 600 less than MSC. After AMP, I'm sure those numbers will go up by a hundred or so once Royal figures out how many people can fit in a cabin. Which seems to be a challenge these days.
