Pre Cruise Hotel in San Juan

We always get hotels the night or two before our cruise.  Any hotel suggestions for San Juan?

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in San Juan (great hotel) years ago but it was pretty far away from the pier and we had to hire our own shuttle.

It'd be great to be closer to the ship and have a shuttle available.

I don't think any hotels in San Juan offer airport or pier shuttles.  Uber or taxi is the best way to get around.

We like Condado Plaza Hilton and Embassy Suites.  We were at Embassy Suites in January, they've done a great job renovating the whole place post-hurricane.

I don't know of any hotels that offer shuttle service to the pier so you will need to hire a taxi (or Uber) to get around. We have stayed at the Embassy Suites and also loved it. Our new favorite hotel in San Juan is the Intercontinental. Like Embassy Suites, it's also near the airport.

We stayed at Best Western Plus Condado Palm Inn & Suites, priced very reasonably since it's one block from the beach. Excellent location, we took the local bus to Old SJ in front of the hotel. Taxi to the pier was less than 20$.

Do you recall what the bus fare was and approx how long it took to get to OSJ? Was the schedule pretty frequent and easy to navigate? Thanks in advance!

Normally we just fly in day of cruise (we live just outside Orlando, quick non-stop on Jet Blue)...with really no worries since sail away is not until 8 pm.   Indeed I would fly in day early if coming from northern states, and especially if have connecting flight.

But this time, since we have more time and are doing B2B2B, we are coming in a day early and elected to stay very close to the pier at the Sheraton.  Even has view of the port from hotel room.  Will be nice to see Vision come in early that morning.  🙂

We've never stayed at a hotel in San Juan where they had a shuttle to the Pan Am pier whether free or not.  We have stayed at the Condado and the Marriott Stellaris as well as Embassy Suites.

We liked the Marriott  best.  I thought Embassy Suites was drab and kind of depressing and it wasn't on the beach.   We haven't sailed from San Juan in a few years so it may be different today.

I would cast a vote for the Marriott Stellaris, too.  It has spacious rooms, amazing views and a great pool.  If I remember correctly, it was about 15 minutes or so from the port.

Sheraton PR Hotel and Casino on Convention Blvd.  Was not my first choice, but since I decided late to add on night before hotel, it was one of the only choices left near the port.  And no...I am not a gambler. 😉
