Lol. So suggestions means nothing.

Go back and read #1130 again

True quarantine only applies to HUBEI PROVINCE. We were told to follow the China protocols

I got to hear the story over a couple of beers while waiting on my son's confirmarion number.🍺

I'm sure of all the cruises you have been on you have had some great moments and some not so great moments. Hopefully some day on a future cruise you will be in bar having a beer and tell someone, "Remember that covid-19 thing? Let me tell you a story......."

Safe travels John, Laura, Pat and Twangster!

Please forgive me for highjacking:
We leave Freedom tomorrow and for the 1st time I’m worried. We’ve been in the Caribbean & as far as I know there has been no Covid 9 there. My home state has closed schools for 2 weeks and the gov declared a state of emergency. Friends have posted pictures of empty grocery shelves. I don’t mind self-quarantining, but we have to pick up our dog from the boarding facility. Our DIL is pregnant so I won’t let her anywhere near us. Am I getting too upset for the situation?

I understand you are re routed to Miami.

It was supposed to be a joke about suggested “dress code”. Lol. We all know John likes to wear his Tux. All in good fun.

Glad they are home safely.

In my opinion

I think I'm done with the tux, to much work. Just because we are allowed two 70 pound bags is no reason to do it.

John and LaLa

Welcome home!!!!!

Yup you guys had quite an experience and I am sure you have more stories to share.

I do not want to hijack your thread but.......................

Were you not involved in one of those summer hurricane  cruises that affected your travel plans?

Also...............Your travels this time were not the usual experience.

So, when and if we cruise on August 16th. out of PC,   Can you just wave from your balcony😁.............although we would like to meet you personally from following your adventures over the years.......just saying.

Glad your home.

Stay healthy

We have had some interesting trips the past three years.

Irma in September 2017 got MJ shortened pre hurricane and Oasis shortened post hurricane.

Our 27 hour flight to get to Singapore for Mariner Odyssey  in April 2018 took 68 and we made it to the ship with 3 hours to spare. Plus that cruise got the last leg cancelled so they could do drydock in Spain vs Bahamas

We sailed on the Oasis for the Noro cruise in January 2019

I wonder what 2021 will bring?

Fire up the way back machine and let's visit Friday morning AKA departure day

We had let Jay know that we didn't want to get off first thing because we were going to hotel, and it likely couldn't accept us, so we'd like to get off at 9:00

He told us he still wasn't sure what the departure procedure was going to be anyway. And this was before Spain announced the port closures. He said he would let us know Thursday night if we had to have bags outside at 11pm, or at 7am. Turns out it was 7am, no big deal. He also told us that he was leaving ship at 8:30am, so he couldn't escort us off anyway. He asked Sophia, the International Ambassador to handle it. Bummer.

I was up at 6:30, put the bags out and we went to CK for breakfast around 8am. Had to get our morning coffee up there since Starbucks didn't deliver on the last day. I kind of thought that was the case, but wasn't sure.  I wasn't even sure they were open, but the latte and cappuccino up there was fine. Breakfast was nice, surprised we didn't go more often, room service was a bust this trip.

Back in the cabin for our 9am departure. Met Sophia right on time, and we bypassed a few people to get scanned out. After that having an escort was of no value.

Ran into a roadblock almost immediately. And Sophia didn't have the skills to get us through, so we waited

Now at one point the HD Director walked by, kind of surprised he didn't offer and Sophia didn't ask him to run interference for us. He definitely pushed his way through along with a few other officers. Not the end of the world.

Finally made it to the luggage hall. FWIW, customs is before you grab your bags. There were two lines, one for EU and one for all of us. EU was pretty much empty. All agents worked on both lines, but EU got priority with the 2 agents on the left.

So we waited. Not sure a Genie would have helped, but who knows.

By the time we got our bags, roughly an hour after leaving our cabin,  the luggage hall was practically empty, but there were still several STAR bags. No idea who those belonged to.  Part of this was my fault for wanting to leave late, part Royal for not providing us with a Genie escort, and part because of new port and Corona confusion.

BTW, I was surprised I could take pictures in here

So we said goodbye to Sophia, headed outside, and more lines. Took 30 minutes to get a cab on our own. Ouch.

Overall, STAR Class departure was a failure.😥

@John&LaLa , @twangster , glad you’re safe at home! You’ll certainly have some interesting stories to tell for years to tell. Hope everyone stays healthy now that you’re home.

I know there were a few others on this thread who were either cruising with you on Allure or on another ship. I hope they will check in here and let us know when they’re back home, and give us an update on their journey.

I'll catch up tomorrow on Barcelona, the airports, and the flight home tomorrow.

We did the Suites/Pinnacle walk off at 0700 on our cruise out of Barcelona and bypassed most everyone and were at the airport before 0815. I suspect leaving a bit later contributed to your delays.

A couple of thoughts. Allure is so big she needs two terminals to load/unload. Much different than Freedom. Plus she hasn't been there in 5 years.

I would rather of hung out in the cabin than wait in line. If we had waited another 45 minutes. That may have been possible. And before anyone says they needed the cabin for the next guest,  that wasn't the case. Obviously other STAR guests hadn't left yet.
