Reading this thread this morning ,shows how even just reading about all of you and

your losses can and does bring a lump in my throat .

The love ,the loss can be felt even over the internet by us all .

We had dogs as I was growing up and others as my kids grew up too and I am

proud to say the all broke my heart when they departed this earth but they are

with me , especially on days like today .

Even a dog that wasn't even mine ,will never leave my thoughts ...

It was about 1963 when I was 7 year old that as playing with other kids I grew

up with I got to meet RIngo . Think their Mum and dad  were Beatles fans .

As we grew up Ringo was there by our sides playing in the street or sat  on

the bankins watching the steam engines roll by .

13-14 years rolled by and us kids had grown up and gone our separate ways

in life . One day whilst back at mam & dads I spotted Mrs B and asked  about

how my old playmates were doing . She said very well but worked away and

one was in the forces . I then told her how much  I loved playing with  their dog

Ringo .

At this she started to cry and told me he was in a bad way ,cancer  and she

and her husband had no transport and thought he may pass away but just kept

getting worse as time went by .

I put her in my car and drove her home and had a cuppa with her and hubby .

Ringo was on a rug under the kitchen sink and was whimpering a lot and visible

sores on his body . He sniffed my hand and tried to come to me , he had remembered

me . After a while I said "this dog was part of my childhood and I can see he is in a lot of pain ,just as you two are watching him suffer .

"Will you take him for us they said both crying ?" Sure and I will stay with him .

At the Vets I told them what had happened and they could see Ringo in pain

and they put him to sleep in my arms, he looked so peaceful .

A minute or so later gave him the rainbow jab where he took his last breath ,still in my arms .

The good thing was Ringo was not in any pain no more .

Never will I forget Ringo my childhood playmate .

This bought tears to my eyes.

Sorry Guys never meant to upset anyone .I just had one those bitter sweet memories

that took me back and wishing how Mrs B had not let poor Ringo end up in that state,

but I suppose it was love from them not letting go.

Once again Soz  I  never wanted to cause upset 🙂

To lighten the mood ,I  had a mate who did not like dogs and told me "they were

stupid as he had seen one chase it's tail for over ten minutes "

He was the one who stood and watched and he calls the dog stupid 🙃

They can get you into trouble though .. I had the police come knocking on my door

to tell me " They had received complaints that my dogs were chasing people on bikes."
My dogs didn't  even own bikes 🙃

Just had a guy come and fix a leak on our gutter and vac and clean all the rubbish

out that collects in them. There was a fair bit as well .

Whilst the sun has decided to come out Mrs K is cutting the grass , so that's us all

sorted for the next downpour..

Morning everyone, hopevyiu are all ok today.

We had to make the awful decision yesterday to let our elderly dog who had an aggressive tumor to cross the rainbow bridge. I am heartbroken 💔

I think the horse is a very noble animal, quite like dogs but hate cats with a vengeance, can’t understand why anyone could like an animal that kills for pleasure, then again as Megabear says each to their own.

I take it you're not keen on humans either then?

Best wishes Michelle, I know how you are feeling. My labrador, Harvey, was only 10. We were away on holiday and returned to find a letter from the kennels informing us he had had a heart attack and passed. This was 45 years ago but I still rhink of him when I see a cream labrador. To put the icing on the cake, there was an additional vets bill included !

We also had a yellow lab called Barley, she was one week off her 14th birthday when we had to make the dreaded decision in 1997. We still think of her daily, turn around suddenly expecting her to be there. It is hard but memories are memories. All the best Michelle x

Obviously upset quite a view people whilst expressing my personal view. Have no problem with anyone having their own views, that’s what makes the world go round. Just to take up the point made by Kalos as regards to humans being killers (safari’s etc.), would confidently say that an extremely small percentage of people kill for pleasure but would equally confidently say that a very high percentage of cats kill for pleasure. I should like to leave the matter there, I lost my dear wife last year and she and all of my family know what kind of person I am which is more than good enough for me.

As a cat person I researched the killing instinct many years ago.  Not wishing to get into big discussions on the subject you might find this interesting.

John ,you did not upset me I just made the comment that humans have been known to kill

for pleasure and off the top of my head foxes in a chicken coup .

My sister had a dog cat and budgie who used to be happy sat together .

You tube are full of them.

Sorry that you lost your wife and at no point have I judged you and  I have no reason to label you "That kind of person " or anything else As you say I will leave the matter there .

Best wishes and you take care

Just read an article about neighbours almost in fisticuffs over a cat. A couple's cat keeps going into next doors back garden. The cat owners are outraged because their precious pussy prefers the neighbours property and ranted at him that he wasn't doing enough to discourage pussy. He was advised he must tell the cat to go home and not come back !  They have threatened to call the police and called him a cat pervert !!!!

Probably only going for a crap, we used to have a cat that dug holes did its business in the hole then covered it over.

My current pussy used to live next door as a kitten.  They went back to Malaysia and left him behind and we found him as a waif and stray in a cupboard in our car port.  Thirteen years on he still goes next door to do his business.  He's getting a bit stiff nowadays so my now neighbours built him a ladder on their side to help him get back over the 6 foot fence!

He is a very spoilt pussy by all around here.

Our neighbours cat did that in our garden. A supersoaker ensured it went somewhere else.

Cat lover of Woking.🤣🐈

That is just such a lovely story. We had a spoiled rotten cat who is currently on holiday with us at our caravan. Sadly we had to have her daughter put to sleep due to a tumour and liver issue New Yrs Eve 2021 so she gets spoiled rotten. Going abit dodgy on her back legs but OK for 15. An indoor cat but prefers the caravan to the house.. no stairs! We may buy a bungalow for the cat !!!
