The sun was shining as we put up the balloons and decorations around the canopy we put up in the yard. We rented a bounce house, and it showed up an hour early, so he got some play time before others showed up. Twenty minutes after his cousins arrived, this happened. FullSizeRender.mov 7.03 MB · 7 downloads We had three storms roll through in the afternoon, some with higher winds. After each one, I would take beach towels in an dry out the bounce house (and I had to bounce a little to test it out each time😁). By the end of the day, I had gone through 20 beach towels. But the kids were not bothered by a little rain, and they all had a blast. Two of the boys are close friends of the family. Their dad was best man at my sons’s wedding. The menu for the party included filet mignon, and I can’t believe grandson ate two of these. Ranch potatoes and corn on the cob And a few other sides. Since the theme was Minecraft, that was the cake choice. In spite of the on and off rain, fun was had by all. This is the first day I have felt exhausted at the end of the day. God Bless You! Our honeymoon was on the SS Norway. My how things have changed. The Norway was the largest cruise ship in the world when we sailed. The life boats were a little different. Everyone got a bridge tour. Everyone was a medalist. They all got a kick out of those. I am way behind but a light bulb just went on when I read this post. I literally have 6 of these medals that I pulled off the old bed (there because I must not have known what to do with them 15 years ago) and was thinking "should I just let go and toss them, like I did with the 3 dozen luving cups last year?". Nope, now I will hang on to them for another 10 years just in case I get blessed with some grand kids. 5

I think by the 80’s and 90’s they had added capacity to her. We have fond memories of that cruise, even with sailing in a Cat 5 hurricane.

Don’t let anyone talk you into going back to work. It took a few months to totally relax. After retiring, my wife would see the tension building Sunday afternoon and would ask, you know what your doing tomorrow? I would shortly say, what. She would answer, whatever you want, you’re retired! I would quickly feel the tension melt out of the shoulders. Happy for you.

ATG Posted August 2, 2021 #24624 Share Posted August 2, 2021 Retirement is fantastic! But it takes some getting used to after all those years of working. We see new retirees move into our neighborhood. The first year they are busy doing all sorts of projects around the yard and house. Eventually, they realize they have time, a precious thing when you’re working. The projects get spaced out and more time is spent on the things they enjoy, whether it’s golf, reading or walking. Enjoy your retirement, you worked hard for it.

I don’t think I’ve ever had someone say to me that they regretted retirement. Life’s too short. I don’t want my life to be defined by just doing one thing for 40 years.
